  • [/quote] You're kidding, right? The FDA is the biggest scam out there! Studies have proven that aspirin reduces your cancer risk but the FDA will not allow the makers of aspirin to make that claim any more and if they do then aspirin will be regulated and you will need a prescription to get it! They want to regulate ALL…
  • I don't practice what I preach as much as I should but in study after study, our attempts to decrease cancer incidence with specific vitamin supplements has backfired. The most notorious was the attemp to reduce risk of lung cancer with beta carotene supplements and 2 large trials demonstrated an increase in risk. The…
  • Grrrr don't get me started. One of my patients who has had her advanced breast cancer under control for years announced at one visit that she was stopping all treatment because Dr Oz said she could be cured by cuttlefish ink. Sometimes I'd like to punch that guy....
  • I'm at the Prior Lake Y but am thinking about switching to Lifetime because the Y doesn't open early enough. The plan would be to use the Bloomington facility on the way to work ( the one near 494). How do you like it?
  • 44 here. Feel free to send me FR you middle aged people!
  • Formerly from Wisconsin but now in Minneapolis, do have a cabin in WI so can I claim dual residence? Huge Packer and Badger fan still. Still looking for MFP friends!

  • Awesome! Book me for 75 miles this month.
  • Wow Anna, that's freakin' amazing! You look great!
  • Oh please please everyone read this thread!
  • Agree with the loving brussel sprouts but also agree with the stinkiness. But still tasty! I struggle with peanut butter (the creamy kind) and bread. Must.....stay.....away....
  • That's a spectacular....dress. =)
  • I usually get up at about 4:30 to go to work so would probably need to be up by 3:30 to get to the gym. That has always seemed too tough to wrap my brain around even though I am a morning perso. But my work hours are so unpredictable and I'm so fried at the end of the day that after work is tough. Plus if I go to the gym…
  • Always looking for more gaming friends! XBL Mndocjoe2 Steam docjoe
  • Hey gamers! Great to find this place. I'm Joe and 44 yo gaming veteran dating back to Pong. I have a family and a crazy busy job so I don't get to game as much as I like but it is still my favorite hobby. I'm mainly a PC (Steam) gamer but also dig the Xbox. Currently working through ME3 and Kingdoms of Amalur on 360 and…
  • Hi Minnesooootans! I'm new around here and wanted to pop in and do the old intro. Grew up in MN near North Branch, got away for a while for school but back now for 12 years. Currently living in Prior Lake and hoping to use this tool to help get (back) in shape.
  • Good for you! I've done a few of them, some well trained and some not. The most important tip....TRAIN. Be consistent, be smart and don't get hurt. If you do the above and follow a realistic program, you'll have nothing to be nervous about. Good luck!
  • Chicken soup. Preferably made by grandma. http://www.unmc.edu/chickensoup/
  • You should be warned that this running thing can get addicting. Pretty soon you'll be looking for longer trails, then you might find yourself entering races then next thing you know you are a bonefide runner! There are worse fates. Welcome to the club!

  • I'm also transitioning to toe/mid foot striking but I'm using the Newton. VFFs don't fit my feet well nor do Nike Frees. I echo the above that I think there is a good scientific rationale behind it (not to mention the recent article in Nature where the guys at Harvard were able to demonstrate that it is more efficient…
  • Oh Meg, your quote is very special to me! Last year my 6 year old son was diagnosed with what was thought to be advanced cancer and we bought a plaque with that quote to hang over his head before surgery. It is still hanging in his room. I get choked up every time I see it......
  • So sorry to hear about your dad NY, I am actually a lung cancer specialist and there is much more hope just in the last few years because of better treatments. I wish you both the best.
  • OK I'm inspired by Meg to do doubles so did 3 mile run this morning (had limited time) and chest/back/AR-X this afternoon. Did great on push-ups today but struggled on set 2 of pull-ups.
  • Argh this has been a frustrating week, gave a lecture on Wednesday night that went waaay later than I planned, on call last night and kept getting paged right in the middle of legs. Now I'm at a meeting in Orlando and planned to at least go for a run but fitness room closed 15 minutes before I arrived! Grrrrr... Well…
  • Oncologist. And feeling a little out of place as one of the few guys here but it is an awesome website. Thanks for letting me crash it!
  • Ugh, what a day. Had to give a talk at a fundraiser after work and have been poring over documents to get ready for a committee meeting early in the morning and preparing a lecture for tomorrow night. Needless to say I bagged Yoga-X and did a half hour on the elliptical while watching OKC get blown out by the Lakers. But…
  • Day 3, arm/shoulders/abripper-X in the bag. Wow does abripper X make me feel inadequate! My goal is to finish the full disk with minimal breaks by the end. My hip flexors are the weak link at the moment! Had some major crampage of my feet at the end, think I didn't eat enough today (calories were only about 1000 in…
  • Hmmm, I like cottage cheese. I like tuna. But together? Gag!
  • Guys I hate to break it to you but it doesn't necessarily get a lot easier when you're done with school. In fact, I look back at med school as the period of my life when I had the most flexibility to work out (except when I was on my surgery rotation....). Soon you will have internship, residency and then the real…
