I'm mildly irritated by people who misuse "beg the question" or "split the baby," but I've mostly given up. I'm strongly irritated by using "like" in place of "um" or "says." That was a Valley Girl thing 30 years ago, and the pre-teens are STILL FRICKIN SAYING IT!!! DO YOU SERIOUSLY MEAN "LIKE" IS GOING TO, LIKE, OUTLIVE…

Me too. It's a little bit zen for Western speak, but it captures something important.

I prefer "You can't eat your cake and have it, too" to the more common "You can't have your cake and eat it too." I know that it works grammatically either way, but I think it makes more intuitive sense my way.

One good thing about Bleach - mix some music from the Bleach soundtracks into your workout playlist and you will never be the same. I challenge anyone not to go into beast mode when D-technolife comes on. Favorite Manga: Kekkashi, Paracyte. Favorite Anime: The Read or Die OVA, Samurai Champloo.

43 here. The forties seems a lot younger than I thought they would; I'm hoping something similar happens to the 50s.

Welcome, Jeff. Here's my 2 cents: 1) IMHO, everybody is a little different, so your challenge is to find out what works for you personally. Read everything that interests you, listen to know it alls like me, but test out different ideas to see what works for you. 2) The biggest thing for me is just not to quit. I try my…

I rinse the heck out of them, chop them on a cutting board into about 2" length, then use them in stir fries with some egg beaters, veggies, and a ton of spices. They're rubbery and flavorless and definitely not a substitute for actual pasta, but good for bulking up some dishes.

IMHO, Diet Coke is fine, and also makes life worth living.

I work out at home. Basically, I record the tv I want to watch, then exercise while watching it. I hear you about the cost of a home gym, but there are a lot of good body weight workouts you can start with, mthen buy things like pull up bars or weight as holidays come up.

IMHO, the historical stuff is easier, ironically because it's so complex. Any time you're convinced that one side is awesome and the other side is not, there are more facts that can make things more real. So I've always stuck to the facts and let the kids draw their own morals unless they ask me what I think. If they do,…

I'm shopping now and am leaning android. Mostly because it seems like it's easier to root and get away from the phone company's bloatware.

IMHO, if it fits in your plan and you're getting some veggies, eat what works for you. I would get pretty bored eating nothing but chicken breast and ground turkey for the rest of my life.

This link should do it. http://ftcy.co/rwWEbG

Johnny Cash's cover of One, plus more than a few episodes of the new Battlestar Galactica.

Every morning - I use the hacker's diet site to plot a trendline so that I don't stress out about day to day variations. I have an Omron body fat scale, which is fine, but think Tanita might be a little better. I also take measurements once a week.

I read that post and as far as I can tell, it's not a myth -- the Euromove writer basically says, "Yes, the EU did ban a company from making the true statement that drinking water can reduce the risk of dehydration, but that result was required by the EU's bureaucratic rules, so shut up."

Incredible and inspiring! Congratulations!

1) Dude does not owe you a call. 2) Wife should only be upset if you display too much interest in your ex coming back on the market. Bro code has spoken!

The first time I tried it, I broke the LCD and had to fix that, but after that, I've gotten pretty good. ;-) I'll poke around for some good how-to pages. Which model do you have?
-
If the only thing broken is the glass (i.e., it still turns on and displays the picture, but the glass is cracked), you (or a nearby nerd) can replace the glass for about $20 + about an hour of work. If the picture is displaying wrong but the phone still works, it's about $50 to replace the glass and LCD. If it won't turn…

Last week: 157.0 This week: 159.0 Ok, time to get serious . . .

We could start a betting pool. Who wants: (1) true love, (2) hookup, then break up, (3) friend zone, (4) gay? (OP, I'm hoping for #1 - let us know!)

Cabaray - sorry for your daughter's experience, that really sucks. Kids are going to be mean to each other, but racism makes it so much worse. Probably the Catholic thing is to respond with love -- keep being nice to the kid until he (hopefully) grows out of it, and hope that his experiences with positive kids like your…

Last week: 156.4 This week: 157.0 Gained 0.6. Weird week - I spent a full day unable to eat or drink with some kind of 24 hour bug, so my average calories were way down, but my final weight is up. I'll give it a few more weeks for things to even out.

Great tips! Thanks for posting - I had never read Venuto's blog, but it's really good.

I like Tanitas a lot. You can get one that remembers the data for two people. I bought the omron with handgrips last year, but I don't think it's any better than the Tanita, and it's pricier. A lot of people like those wifi scales that upload your data straight to your computer, but I'd rather save the money and type in my…
