  • Are these ones in the Gym? I wouldn't worry, I'm over 300 and I've been working out on the treadclimber for weeks now with no problems. Edit: I have back/knee problems as well so same issue as your hubby. He'll love it, I've done 60 mins on the treadclimber without any twinges, I last 20mins on anything else maximum before…
  • Once a week is enough. Though sometimes I do a half week weigh in, I know I shouldn't...
  • I've tried Weight Watchers and Slimming world. The problem I have with them is that they don't really explain what is going on, they give you points or tell you what you can/can't eat but the reality is, you can eat anything you like, as long as you're balancing and can follow it then you'll be fine. If you want to eat…
  • My bands are the following: Fear Factory Pantera Life of Agony Slayer and P!nk Yes I know, but something about that lady, the music is so energetic, I know it doesn't quite fith with the metal before it but hey :) this week though I've been burning thorugh calories to Fear Factory. And it's been really driving me on.…
  • Uh, I only use a little bit of splenda. On my cereal if I have it. Will have to go look for this other stuff now. Splenda was recommended by my DOCTOR as it was from sugar rather than artificial. Fat lot of good that does me. Also my one, big, vice is Pepsi Max. I used to get through 4 ltrs a day of it, but that's dropped…

  • Quite common in Hollywood. 50 started from a heavily muscular but 'regular' size, he could've stopped working out, gone on a liquid diet and dropped any 'juicing' he was doing (not accusing, just saying) he'll be able to spring back in a few months although he's putting a lot of strain on his heart.
  • Half of that story could've been about me :) Wow, very inspirational, congratulations on getting to where you are now and all the best for the road ahead. You know know that you can do it and make yourself that promise that you'll never go back. This time next year I want to be where you are :)
  • Don't Run. As others have said, walking is fine, just start at your own pace, get used to it and then pick up the pace a bit. The lake/pond you mentioend sounds perfect, if you find yourself getting bored with the scenery don't be scared to find alternative routes near where you live. Do you have any stairs/steps at all?…
  • I'm sure you have them wherever you are. In the UK we call them 'seat belt pads' and here's a really nice example: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_247521_langId_-1_categoryId_165548 I'm sure you can find the equivalent :) Good luck!
  • Looking after a baby is hard enough work. Don't beat yourself up about the protein, think about it only if you start gaining weight. You'll be fine.
  • Cool. 90% does sound more 'sensible'. I wasn't going to eat back an extra 1000 calories anyway so I'll certainly not be doing any damage :)
  • Are you working out? Are you under some days? There's been quite a bit of discussion on protein the last few days, I still say don't worry about it :) going over on protein or fiber shouldn't be a problem unless it's by massive ammounts. Both of these are important. I'd personally say stay under the calories, under the…
  • As long as when the band is 'removed' the person doesn't go right back to what they were doing before, I've seen it happen, there was a big deal made of a girl over here in the UK who's done just that and as long as the person is doing it for the right reasons then I don't have a problem at all. And I wouldn't like to cast…
  • I've got a lot to lose, put my 'main goal' in there. And if I proceed on from that goal, all the better. It's worked out that when I pass my kitty, I'll be a very happy person. Edit: Kwilliams. What you do is this: Go to tools. Create your ticker. Get the code for your ticker 'for any message board' Then come back to the…
  • Everyone is at a gym to improve themselves. Focus on your partner and don't worry about anyone else around you. Think about why you are there and what you want to achieve, everyone else will soon fade into the background if you get yourself focused. And just think. Keep it up and in a few months you'll feel great!
  • This is why I think weighing yourself a lot is a mistake :) It's about how you feel and what you are doing. If you're working out, feeling good and things are heading in the right direction then sod the scales, they really don't matter. As Simon said you've probalby lost a bit of muscle which weighs more than fat, don't be…
  • On the tread climber at the gym I usualy get around 330cals for 20 mins. It's a pretty hard workout and I am sweating like crazy while doing it (though not struggling too much). Normally for 10 mins work on the cross trainer I end up with about 100 cals. So yeah sounds like the numbers are a little inflated.
  • Thanks all of you for taking this the right way. I will not be forgetting where I've come from and I hope in a years time I can honestly say I'm never going back again. Everything feels good and positive at the moment. I even signed up to become a student again, feels like I'm changing everything in a positive way.
  • Enjoy your coffee. Life shouldn't be boring and coffee isn't that bad for you plus any milk you put in has calcium which we need and you're using splenda which is probably the best artificial sweetener. If you're feeling really bad drink an extra glass of water a day to counteract any dehydration from the caffene.
  • /bounce I think I should be in here as well. Over the course of my life if I think I've picked up enough fitness and nutrition tips in order to help others, even if I don't follow it as much as I should.... In any case, I'll have my own questions to add as well, maybe I should've put my motivation post in here :) but I…
  • I quite for 2 years a while ago. And I plan on not drinking anymore, unless it's a very special occasion. The best way to deal with it at first if you're struggling is to have something that tastes nice and is a substitute, even though it may still have calories. For example, Orange Juice with Lemonade (light lemonade if…
  • I have a lot of weight to lose, but as long as I'm heading in the right direction I'm not that bothered if it's 1lb, 5lbs, 8lbs, whatever. I'm training as well and I know my muscles react pretty quickly when I get my butt in gear so I know it's balancing. After 3 weeks I feel a lot healthier and I can walk up the stairs…
  • Chuck a cupful in a pan, add 200ml of 2% milk. Heat up and simmer for 5 mins. Add: Low fat Jam/Jelly or nothing. Best way to have it IMHO :) I just have mine with a sprinkling of Splenda (low fat sugar substitute) Keeps you full for hours.
  • I'm guessing you've had more than one day below your calorie goal? These things balance, as long as you're not going 500-1000 calories over (okay maybe the very odd special occasion) then you're fine. If you feel guilty do 1 minute of step ups or something :)
  • You're doing what you do for you, not him. From a guy's standpoint he's probably the kind of rude obnoxious person that isn't worth a second of your time in a bar, club, on the street or whatever. Ignore, move on, you never know one day you might meet him on the street and he'll have a different tack.... Then you can step…
  • The shake/low carb diet is what I'd call a crash diet. Things like Slim fast etc are good for very short term loss but they are never good for sustaining. It Sounds like you do exactly what I used to, I used to eat an extra large pizza in 20 mintues with sides easily. And then feel sick 20 mins later, but still want more.…
  • My plan was to hit the gym Monday/Wednesday/Friday each week and take the 15 minute walk to the Tube station. I can re-commit myself to that today, Monday I was in the gym, Wednesday I was in the gym and I was even in there this morning as well (mostly cardio I'm not overdoing it :) ). And I've walked to the station every…
  • It'll balance out. Most people will start losing weight very quickly which is why all these 'con' plans can promise things like "we guarantee you'll lose 20lbs in 2 weeks" etc. My first week following this I lost 8lbs. This week I've lost 1lb. In the past I've lost 24lbs in 2 weeks. It blances out as long as you're being…
  • My faves: 3 Wetabix with 2% (Semi Skimmed) Milk + 1 Banana Half a cup of rolled oats, 2% milk, sweetner to taste or a low fat Jam (Jelly) added. High fibre cerial with yogurt 2 Slices of toast with low fat spread. And if I have a little more time. 1 slice of wholemeal toast, 1 scrambled egg, 100gm of baked beans,…
  • Had a 'crash' last week. Was on monday, 7th day after starting my diet, started with a headache, ended with a fever and nausia. I had a Mango smoothie in order to 'control' it but it didn't help much, I was better the next day however I felt a bit wobbly all week. My Flatmate suggested it was a '5 day crash' and as it…
