  • yeah, that's what i do. their menu ideas look alright to me, but i have a lot of good, healthy foods i already like to make and can get my husband to eat, so that's what i stick with. i also pay attention mostly to the macros. still trying to wrap my mind around the calorie recommendations but doing better.
  • first of all, calm down. second of all, great for you for wanting to give lifting a try! here's a really helpful link to help you understand the layout of the workouts http://maggiewang.com/2008/05/20/new-rules-of-lifting-for-women-diet-calculator-and-workout-logs - bonus, the page number with the demonstration of each…
  • i used to pay attention to it but now i totally ignore it. i don't find it very accurate OR encouraging.
  • fresh veggies are soooo much better than canned! sauteed, roasted, or steamed! a little EVOO, salt and pepper goes a long way! oh and of course garlic. i also agree with trying a touch of brown sugar or honey can't hurt. that's how i prefer my brussel sprouts! and try different things - there are so many different veggies…
  • www.petticoatfair.com has some good options. my grandparents-in-law opened this store in 1964 and my husband's uncle now owns it. it's a really classy store that has everything from mastectomy to bridal to pjs. nearly everything in the store is cup-sized (rather than S-M-L sizing). bands on bras range from 28-56, cups from…
  • i usually try to have a good amount of protein (from food) throughout the day. i do use protein powder to help reach my macros, especially after lifting. also... something you might not know - protein powder can give you gas. really, really, stinky gas. just a warning.... :frown:
  • i see noticeable differences, especially in your legs! that's what i'm going for too! yay, this is encouraging. GREAT JOB!
  • i love that the possibilities with protein powder are endless. one of my favorites is to put it in non-fat plain greek yogurt (tons of protein right there too!) and mix with fruit. it's my go to snack for every morning basically. it tastes like cake batter! i also like to make protein smoothies instead of just the milk or…
  • my favorite is a protein style, animal style cheeseburger from in n out burger. it comes wrapped in a bunch of the most crispy, crunchy, delicious lettuce and with grilled onions and their special, amazing sauce. TASTY! unfortunately, there aren't any (at the moment) in austin where i live, although they are building one…
  • thanks for the link! that guy was crazy with all the variations he was doing, it seemed totally effortless! i am heading back to the gym tonight to make my next attempt with these. i looked at a few other youtube videos, they were really helpful. thanks again to everyone for the suggestions!
  • great job! keep it up and enjoy shopping :)
  • thanks! it's great to hear that people are getting these types of results! i just started and so i am excited to continue!
  • i just started last week and i had trouble with this one too! a lot of the ladies in this group encouraged me to do my best, keep trying, and get back on that ball. i was discouraged because i didn't look like the lady in the picture, with her butt up in the air. everyone said that it takes practice and that you'll get…
  • you look great! way to keep yourself motivated to keep going!
  • For high protein snack ideas, try a shake made with trutein protein powder (it actually tastes good!), fage 0% plain greek yogurt (tons of protein in this alone!), a handful of spinach (lots of good vitamins!) and whatever other fruit you like, i usually do raspberries and half a banana, throw in a little milk (coconut or…
  • thanks for the input and encouragement ladies! i will keep practicing!
  • i just started yesterday! i am loving it so far!
  • that's awesome! that's such a great boost for your confidence! keep up the hard work!
  • i agree. eat good food with lots of protein after a workout. your muscles need it to rebuild.
  • great job! and congratulations on getting engaged. keep up the hard work!
  • i cook most of my dinners (for just me and my husband) from scratch as well. you should see my "recipe" list on my food tab. i think it's a great way to keep track of what's actually going into my food and also how to change them to make them better (you might be shocked when you see what nutrients are in different foods…
  • i've been sick this week, but i just got the book in the mail and i can't wait to get better so i can get started on the program! thanks for posting your results! you look great!
  • i was the same way. the first week or so, i had a hard time even letting myself eat enough in order to reach the maintenance calorie suggestion. trust me... you'll get over it. :) i was so happy to be at maintenance, i was not such a happy person eating 1300ish calories for several months. i have been successfully…
  • great job thus far, everyone! you've all made beautiful progress! :) SW: 138 lbs - had an account for several years, started using consistently again in october 2012 - was a tight size 6 and getting tighter CW: 125 lbs - achieved mid-january 2013 - now a size 2 GW: not trying to lose anymore Goals: -want to start using…
  • great attitude and great results! way to keep yourself on track with wanting to be healthy, not just skinny! i am so glad to hear you are happier too! thank you for sharing your journey thus far!
  • seriously? no one?
  • i think that you're at a healthy weight now, for your height. i took a look at your food diary, and i don't think you're eating enough. you should increase your calories with more healthy choices, as you look like you are already trying to do (good job on making good choices)! i also highly recommend increasing your…
  • yep! she ^^^ got me into trutein, and i love it too! i also use about 1 scoop a day. it mixes well with a lot of things. mixing it with yogurt and eating it with fruit for a snack at work is my favorite! i eat it in smoothies with spinach and banana too. or mix it with frozen blended bananas and roasted coconut chips for…
