I've been practicing for about 4 years and this is the pose that I have the most difficulty with. I've learned 2 things this summer: 1) since losing 40+ pounds, it's much easier for me to reach down and put my hands under my foot. My mid-section was preventing me from doing this 2) I discovered that I can practice this…

Be patient with yourself ... you'll get to the full expression of the pose, eventually. It may take weeks or months.

I understand your desire to "vent" on MFP ... it probably feels good to put your feelings into words. And you also get some positive feedback from the MFP community. BUT ... if you really want to improve the situation: 1) You need to get into cognitive behavioral therapy. Find a therapist! There are many talented…

I really try to follow the instructors' suggestions about not eating 3 hours before class. But, when challenged for time and feeling famished ... I have an apple. I've found that it stops the hunger pangs and I can eat it within 30 mins of class.

My favorites poses change from time to time. Generally it's been camel pose, followed by fixed firm. Most recently it's been the final spinal twist at the end of class (I've gained flexibility & lost weight) and the twisting feels really GOOD!

I hope you enjoy the Bikram Yoga. Keep in mind, it's not for everyone. Some of my girlfriends won't even give it a try (afraid of the heat and afraid of sweating). If you like to sweat and can tolerate heat --> IT'S A FANTASTIC WORKOUT!!! Be patient with yourself, do your best, and take it one day at a time. And DON'T…

WOW! That's very inspirational! Awesome that you've kept detailed track of your progress, logging miles and calories burned.

Julia ... I was looking (and couldn't find) a post I wrote a couple of weeks ago for seasoning and tenderizing steak. Basic steps: 1) step-1 = tenderize the steak (I pound both sides with a meat tenderizer/hammer) and immediately squeeze fresh lemon juice over it 2) step-2 = marinate the steaks in a ziplock bag for 3-4…

I'm in! Will do the 50 sit-ups:happy: and TRY doing push-ups (I totally suck at push-ups, so could use some bigtime improvement)

So sad to read your post ... Sorry that you are struggling and have a spouse who's not supportive of your efforts. I think the ideas about the crockpot meals are awesome. And get to the grocery store and stock-up on some fresh veggies. I have an electric veggie steamer and make huge batches of veggies (carrots, broccoli,…

Thanks! You're right!! I guess I just get flumoxed by all the ads for diets/fads claining you can lose 10 lbs in a week. Not realistic.

Hi ... Anyone can add me also. I'm on Day-19. Am feeling good, energy level is good, finding plenty of foods to eat and be satisfied. But I've only lost 6 LBS so far. Wish the weight loss was greater.

WOW! Very interesting and at first glance looks complex. Since I have an data/analyst type personality, this looks like a tool for me ... THANKS for sharing!

I've had my CPAP about 5 years, and I use it every night. It has made an enormously wonderful impact in the quality of my sleep. I sleep through the night every night and am rested when I awake in the morning. Before I had the CPAP my sleep was not restful and I awoke numerous times during the night. If you're just getting…

That is a great story! Very motivational!

My husband and I had it tonight for the 1st time. I also mixed in some sauteed onions and steamed carrots. It was yummy!

I LOVE wandering around that store! So much to look at, food and otherwise. I've discovered my all-time favorite body lotion at Whole Foods. It's Aubrey Rosa Mosqueta (rose scented). I also like the EO (Everyday Organics) body wash products.

I enjoy taking classes from different instructors. I've found that I'll learn something different from each of them; they tend to emphasis different facets of the bikram experience. Of course there are days when I want to "hide" in the back of the room and take a class from an instructor who's easy -- meaning they don't…

It usually takes me 3 - 4 days to reach ketosis, eating less than 30 grams of carbs per day. Once I'm in ketosis -- going to pee is fun! Looking at the color on the ketostix. (A much better experience than peeing on a stick to see if you're pregnant).
