Welcome to a new decade!

Am 5'5. In my 20's and before marriage & giving birth, I was happy at 122. In my 30's, working full time, with 2 little kiddos, I devolved to 140. Weight continued to climb in my 40's and 50's. My number was around 153. Well am now in my 60's and am in the 190's. Am setting incremental goals: first to get to 180, then 160,…

I may not be there yet, but am closer than I was yesterday.

Followed the link and read the post -- very inspiring!

Yup, I'm following a similar food plan; am being monitored by a nutritionist. I think what's key is to eliminate the processed foods! Veggies, fish, fowl, and fruits are your friends!
-
I started reading the book this week and looking at the website. It's very inspiring! Am considering cutting way way back on the animal protein I consume. Am on day2 of veggie only eating.

That would be me. Sending you a friend request

Am grateful for a beautiful day and can spend time outside gardening and then fix a batch of healthy turkey-veggie soup for dinner.

Yup, I'm with you. Don't want to reveal too much because have been stuck in a high-stress/co-dependency situation for about a year and a half. Needed to physically remove myself from the environment in order to focus on "me", for a change.

Still struggling with this pose. I have great leg strength and flexibility. My issue (was and continues to be) finding BALANCE on one leg.

Had an instructor say "even the top of your feet sweat in class ... who knew that was possible!"

I'd be happy to be your accountability partner! I was very successful following the DP during Lent (our church sponsored the program) and I WAS part of a small group that met weekly to encourage, support, and hold one another accountable. But now am away from the group. Hubby and I have a summer home in the mountains of AZ…

I did the 10-day detox and was very pleased with the results. I had been following the DP for about a month and decided to do the detox. I lost weight every day on the detox. I felt great on the detox. Would recommend it to you!

Here's a suggestion to keep yourself motivated ... go to Youtube and do a search on "Rick Warren" or the "Daniel Plan". You'll find a number of videos that are inspiring and motivational. I especially enjoy watching Pastor Warren; he speaks plainly, down-to-earth, and yet is so profound.

For me, it's doing devotions in the morning. Ideally, first thing before I "get busy" with the daily stuff. I also try to be in prayer throughout the day. Often short prayers. I like to pray when walking for exercise. And to surround myself with Christian friends! I sing in the choir at church and love being in choir --…

My name is Mary and I live in Sunny Arizona. Just turn 60, am retired, happily married for 29 years and we have 2 grown children (ages 25 and 28) and one delightful grandchild. I started doing the Daniel Plan during Lent. Our church sponsored the endeavor and gifted anyone who wanted to participate with the book and…

Thanks for sharing that! It it loaded with so many helpful ideas!

"What aspects of the Daniel Plan do I worry about"? For me, it is keeping the focus. I was fortunate to be part of a group that met weekly during Lent. But, Lent is over, and our group is no longer meeting. Our group is going to attempt to stay connected via email; we live in Sunny Arizona and some of the group members…

The cookbook is beautiful! It's one of the "prettiest" cookbooks I've ever seen. The color photos of the recipes are amazing.

Tamara ... Please tell us which recipes you've tried and like from the cookbook. Within the past week I have prepared 3 "new" recipes from the cookbook. This is a "personal best" for me, because I seldom try new recipes. Here's my reviews: 1) the asparagus creme soup: easy to prepare, but very bland ... UNTIL I added a lot…

I started more carefully reading labels and was stunned to see how sugar appears in SO MANY staples we eat. I'm referring to things like stewed tomatoes and spaghetti sauce.

Awesome post!!!

My favorite snack right now is Fuji apples. I like apples because they are so portable -- when I'm dashing around town, I just take an apple with me and will often eat it in the car. It stops my hunger pangs. At home I like leftover veggies. I usually make a big batch of veggies for dinner -- enough so there will be…

Awesome! Very inspiring!

I received some good, common sense advice on this topic today. Basic point is not to have the trigger foods in your home. This is because at some point you WILL succumb to eating them, which is a bad decision. Instead -- change your decision point -- decide at the store NOT to buy the trigger foods. You are being strong,…

My church is promoting the Daniel Plan as part of focusing on Lent. I'm in the third week of following the plan and attend a weekly small group meeting. So far, the small group discussions have not been very helpful ... BUT ... I REALLY enjoy watching the weekly videos from Saddleback Church and find Pastor Warren to be…

Am in the 3rd week of doing the Daniel Plan. Our church is promoting it during Lent. I joined a small group that meets once a week. I REALLY like the videos by Pastor Warren and the faith-based approach to getting healthy.

This is helpful for me, reading the stories from others who struggle with this behavior/compulsion. I also have discovered that it helps (at home) to trash all the trigger foods and when grocery shopping not to even look at the aisles where the "bad" foods are located. I feel bad for my husband, who sits there in the…

I've struggled with binge eating in the evening for years ... I wish I knew the "answer" or the "cure". When hubby and I are watching TV around 8pm I get an irresistible urge to eat unhealthy foods. It's a compulsion, don't know how to stop it. Then next morning I wake-up filled with self-loathing. I frequently have eaten…

We good be friends ... I follow the Paleo eating lifestyle ... I'll double-check that my diary is open
