Every day I take a pot of cottage cheese, a yoghurt and some kind of crackers etc to have at work. Sometimes I'll also bring some slices of chicken. I follow that up with a high quality protein bar. Protein lunch ahoy!!

To echo what others have said, some things I do are: Ear buds in, music up loud Know which exercise you're going to do first If you can/are allowed: I sometimes take the weights out of the busy weights area and across to a free mat area and do the exercises there, sometimes using a Swiss ball instead of a bench for added…

I've always been a morning person, my alarm never goes off, I'm always awake. Routine is key, I sort out everything the night before (all food for the day, work clothes, gym clothes etc all laid out). Go to bed around 10-10.30, read for a while til sleepy. Then I wake naturally at 5.30, doze til around 6-6.30, go to the…

I'm 5'2.5", muscular build and would love to maintain at 136lbs but that might actually look too light on me so might maintain at 140lbs. Focus is on building muscles and losing inches and seems to be going well so far. Am size UK 12 on bottom (10 in A-line skirts) and UK 10 on top. Think this thread is a great…

Don't worry, it's not 'fat' weight, it's food or water retention weight. On Tuesday, after two days of bad food choices I had 'gained' 4lbs, after one day of being back on track (normal cals and exercise) I'd lost 3 of those and by the end of the week, I'd theoretically lost all 4 + another 2lbs! (And I was eating normally…

One thing that I read that helped me stop eating chocolate during lent, was that instead of saying to yourself 'I can't eat that' say 'I don't eat that'. I don't know why but it worked for me, perhaps the first way of thinking makes it sound like denial whereas the second is a choice? Also, I think the idea about…

Me and the OH decided that these noodles were actually alien snot! They are weird and I can't chew them at all, just swallow them. Having said that, I do like them with a spicy sauce and have prawns or quorn with them.

Hello - I'm doing the Dalkeith one too, it's in August. Currently doing a wide range of general fitness (lots of circuit type stuff), need to increase my running. Really not thought about clothing etc and I'd not heard about the goggles! I'm least looking forward to the water jump as I'm not fond of water at the best of…

If I run in the morning then I don't have anything, if it's after work when I'm tired then I make sure I have a little something mid-afternoon (ie. couple of oatcakes or some dried fruit). If it's the morning of a 10k race then I will have some porridge 2 hours before but that's just cause you have to hang around for ages…

I'm 5'2.5" (the extra half counts, right?!), I have a muscly/stocky shaped frame and started at 150ish, losing about 1lb per week on 1350. I use my calories more as a guide and don't log every tiny little bit of mustard or sauce that I eat. I losen up a bit at weekend and have one or two days higher calories or if I'm…

I have a cup of hot tea and also a big glass of water, by the time I've got through those (about 30 mins later) I feel really full and not interested in eating. I do this after my evening meal when still feeling a bit 'nibbly'.

Can't drive so take the bus approx 5 miles (on nice days in the summer I'll walk home with gigantic backpack full of papers/laptop/cables etc etc). Used to take train an hour each day plus 30 min walking. Think bus/train/walk combo is more a UK thing though!
-
Well, in one way it hasn't helped my fitness/weight - being sat for 10 hours a day with nowhere to walk at lunchtime and a little office so not much distance to walk but on the other hand... my job has helped because I can sneak onto MFP ALL THE TIME!! I get so much inspiration and motivation from this site and luckily my…

I've got loads of lovely work clothes that are a bit too tight on me at the moment, I can't wait to wear them again: Purple tunic dress Black skater style dress Beautiful blue straight Coast skirt (the only straight skirt that's every fitted me!) Black and red tulip skirt dress And of course skinny/straight-leg jeans…

I lived in the Netherlands for a year and the Dutch Quark is aces! They do soooo many flavours (apple and cinnamon anyone) and it's yummy and low cal. The only version I've found in the UK is the more cheesy typye one as opposed to the yoghurt type one - however it's good for making cheesecakes with. Fromage frais is…

Ah but no, he KNOWS that it's impossible for me to eat just one bit of chocolate! He even laughs at my lack of willpower which I readily acknowledge! I completely appreciate the sentiment but sometimes he makes me scream!

You should definitely report him to the gym where he works. If you don't want to do it personally then maybe they have those Customer Comments cards that you post in a box that you can do anonymously?
-
Maybe he just doesn't 'get it'? My OH knows that I try to eat healthily and that I exercise a lot but he seriously doesn't 'get it' (despite the fact that he's always moaning about his weight and lack of fitness etc, etc). I make us nice healthy meals and then afterwards he'll ask me if I want to share a pretzel (the bread…

You know, this might be one of those times in your life where you have to prioritise. You are not Super Woman and you cannot do absolutely everything and be there for everybody. It sounds like at this point in time, you need to focus on your studies. Your MBA will eventually be complete and then you can go back to…

When I was that age I loved to do free weights training and really pushed myself. My dad was (and still is at 62) into heavy weight training so I was inspired by him and the various weights magazines he had lying around. It really made me feel empowered as a female to be lifting weights, I felt different and special but in…

I've just bought a batch of tofu to experiment with and didn't realise til now that you can have it raw! This sounds yum, I'm going to give it a go.

Happy to be added as a friend to anyone too. I'm dedicated but not fanatical ie. I do eat stuff that's high sugar or have a mental day of chocolate but I do my best most of the time! Been on here just over a week and need to keep up the motivation, the exercise bit is pretty easy (even if I have to force myself some days…

Yeh, the whole metric/imperial thing, I'm from the UK, 34 and could pretty easily cut off a 1oz lump of cheese but ask me to measure 100g of cheese and I have no idea. Being looked at weirdly in the hotel in Houston when I asked for some milk to go with my tea, I didn't even attempt to ask for skimmed. I hate creamy milk!…

Green tea and mango Camomile and spiced apple And I used to get one from Holland & Barrett that was a Heath & Heather Slimatea (don't think it actually did anything slimming but it tasted delicious) but they've stopped doing it.

I'm so sorry that you're in a stressful situation at the moment, here's some suggestions that might help: go to Aldi or Lidl - no you won't find the same thing each week but the fruit and veg is super cheap. There's nothing wrong with tinned veg either, it'll last and is also really cheap. look out for bargains in…

Bottle of water iPod until I misplaced it and now it's driving me mad not being able to find it

I'm not sure what the options are for online grocery shopping in the US, but here in the UK, I do my shopping online at Tesco and they send me coupons based on what I buy ie. I buy lots of veggies so next month I get a coupon for either money off or additional points if I buy say £2 of veggies etc. Perhaps something worth…

Hello, I've suffered from terrible shin splints in the past but now no longer get them and have run half-marathons etc. I have really flat feet too so here's my advice. Firstly, get your flat feet seen to by an orthopedist and get some orthotic insoles if required. Go to a physio who will do the most excruciating massage…
