So glad you shared this. He is definitely proud of you, and you should be proud of you, too! For losing the weight, but also for raising such a sweet and observant boy. You're doing great.

I'm working on my Master's and my focus is Children's Literature. I'm only taking 2 classes this semester--one is 'The Heroic Tradition in Children's Literature' and the other is my thesis writing. This is my last semester of classes and then I have until June to write/complete my thesis. It's crunch time for me! If all…

I'd say yes. But then again, I also count water that I add the crystal light or on-the-go packets to. I just also happen to add the calories from those packets to my calories for the day. So basically, if you want to count it, then go for it!

I look at text messages and sometimes send a reply during the night, but I'm usually at least semi-awake, if not fully functioning. There has been more than one occasion though where I've been too tired to respond and I'll read something, then respond verbally out loud and won't remember until the following morning that I…

TOOL. Their songs are around 6-7 minutes long so I think of my cardio as only being 10 songs long.

I plan to still log (as best I can) and I am going to coordinate it so that my day off from the gym and exercising is Thanksgiving day. Since the gym isn't open that day anyway, it's a good day to have off. That way I can still go all out the other days and not feel guilty about having a piece of pumpkin pie, pecan pie, or…

That's terrible. I had to absolutely hound the city (I think I had them out 3 or 4 times in one month) and then I had to call 3 different plumbing companies, plus my insurance company, and then finally a lawyer. I had just bought my house and it happened to me about 1 month after moving in. Try to hang in there. Call again…

I'm a calorie hoarder. I'm always terrified that I'm going to be starving in the evenings and have run out of calories, so I usually save about 900 calories for dinner and evening snacks. This is almost always more than enough, and instead of worrying about going over my calories for the day, I'm actually finding that I'm…

This is wonderful! Congratulations to you! It's amazing the difference that just 20 pounds can make, isn't it? Keep up the fantastic work!

I have a terrible, terrible, terrible sweet tooth. I mean, it's so bad that I have to have something sweet after every meal. Here are a few things that have worked for me so far: Sugar free jello pudding -- I really like the dark chocolate ones. They're only 60 calories. Snickers or twix mini ice cream bars -- They're only…

Welcome! You'll love it. Feel free to add me if you need any advice, encouragement, etc.

I counted "light cleaning" yesterday just because I was doing it for about 6-7 hours. I cleaned my entire house from top to bottom, including scrubbing all of the floors on my hands and knees, plus walking up and down the 2 flights of stairs to a) do the laundry and then b) put it away upstairs. Typically, I don't log…

^^^ This. I had the same issues with the drain outside of my house, and it completely ruined my entire basement, including the drywall, carpet, and about $3000 worth of electronics that I had in the basement at the time. I had to have mold remediation done, plus they had to completely gut my entire basement in order to…

There's always the Harry Potter challenge if you're interested. I'm pretty sure Hufflepuff still needs a few members in their house. Search the forums for details.

Also, not sure if you have a Sams Club or Costco membership, but I buy Chobani Greek Yogurt and lowfat string cheese in bulk from there. I also really like the laughing cow light cheese wedges. A lot of times you can get them on sale and they come in a variety of flavors. (My personal fave is the original swiss and I use…

How do you feel about soup or chili? I usually make a big batch of vegetable soup or turkey chili on Sunday and take it for lunch 2-3 times that week. The vegetable soup is the easier of the two options because you can pretty much throw whatever you want in there. A can of black beans for protein, a can of corn, green…

Yes and no. Yes, you would lose a lot of weight. No, it's not possible to completely cut out carbs. If you're talking processed carbs (like the white rice, bread, pasta, etc. that you mentioned) then you will obviously lose weight faster. The problem with this is it's unrealistic to maintain something like this. I've…

Whenever I'm headed out to an Italian restaurant I choose either a small (lunch) portion of the spaghetti and marinara (sometimes meat sauce, depending on the calories I have left for the meal) or cheese ravioli with marinara. Most cheese ravioli with marinara dishes are around 650 calories. Add a side salad (dressing on…

Yes. The same thing happens to me when I'm on the bike at the gym. I've tried entering my weight and age into the machine and using my HRM and found the machine to be closer to an accurate burn.
-
I ignore everything that MFP says for calories burned as I've found that they're usually double, or sometimes triple what I really burn. I'm 5'11 and 290 and when I wore my HRM and rode 6 miles on the recumbent bike (on the weight loss program and averaging a speed of 80) I only burned roughly 100 calories. MFP had it set…

Love Kat Williams!
-
Neither. It's "piss in vinegar."
-
Nope, sure not. You're not eating enough and if your tracker is accurate you're not drinking any water. Bump the water intake up to at least 8 glasses per day, make sure you're eating at least 1200 calories, and you'll start losing at a faster (and healthier!) rate.

Yes! Those are definitely my favorite! (Also, I'm finding a serious need for a 'sarcasm' smiley today. Where's the eye roll smiley when you need him/her?)

I used my BMI. The trickier thing for me to figure out was my body fat percentage. If you're unsure, you could always just ask your doctor.
-
Ha! No, but could you post one about what you find attractive in the opposite sex, please?

I've always heard "think".

I walk on my break at work (15 minutes, 3.5 mph pace) and hit the gym roughly 5 times a week. 3 of those days I do cardio and weights, the other days I do only cardio. My cardio includes a 30 minute warm-up walk on the treadmill (again 3.5 pace), then 30 minutes on the bike, 20-30 minutes on the elliptical. On days when…
