Nope, fat comes off where it wants to come off. Unfortunately :p I always loose in my face first, thighs last. Drives me nuts. Targeted exercises develop your muscles in those areas, which can result in a physique that looks better to you. Edited to add that its good to do both cardio and strength training, just doing…

Admittedly I hadn't read through all these yet, but had to jump in with my pet peeve of sale vs sell. e.g. "I'm going to sale this online" or "There are a lot of holiday sells this week" yup, drives me nuts, especially as i've been seeing this used by businesses now! The funniest mispronunciation happened to me a few weeks…

I *think* I remember reading in NROL4W (could have been somewhere else), that it gave two sets of TDEE ranges, one for workout days and one for nonworkout days. That may be something to check into too. Edited to add that yes it was NROL4W, here's a post that explains how the two differnt sets of calorie ranges are set up…

I got to thinking about this last night, because you're right, we don't just lay in bed all day, so really you do burn more than your BMR regardless of exercise. So even eating back exercise cals, there's all the other calories you burn through out the day sitting, walking, etc etc. I thought about maybe redoing my TDEE…

Awesome, I was just thinking today how to switch back to eating exercise calories, & you've saved me a lot of trouble, lol Yup, I'll admit it, having to exercise for extra calories works as an incentive for me :p Well, there's other things going on that's led to me not exercising as much as I was, but I'm thinking that not…

By all means do so! I did this to a jerk who would come sit like 3 ft in front of me every damn time i was in the gym and stare while I was on the treadmill. When I got done he'd get up and go sit in front of another woman work out, and so on. It was blatant enough that there was no mistaking what he was up to, so I…

About 150$/wk for two adults, though that includes groceries and other household items. And maybe 30-50 of it is on stuff I'm buying extra of because its on sale so I try to stock up. Good produce is very hard to find cheap too, even in season stuff you can expect to pay like $2/lb for tomatoes even though they're local.…

marking to read through later - love my crock pot!

I'm red to some extent all the time - damn fair Irish skin, lol Nothing like having someone tell you that you need to put on less blush for a show, when you hadn't put any on to begin with! It used to bother me when I was younger and tried to wear makeup, mostly just so I didn't hear the comments all the time, but now I'm…

Hmm, I have sinus problems myself, but resort to advil for swelling and allergy meds to try to keep that under control too. Spicy food might help? Be careful with things like netti pots, I would recommend using bottled distilled water, and not tap water as there have been some reported instances of people getting ill from…

I started doing this sort of, by eating smaller 'meals' and adding in more 'snacks' (really just by breaking up what I'd eat for one meal, and eat part of that as a snack like two hours later), and also by adding a snack around 9pm. I think its helped, I rarely have instances during the day where I feel just super hungry…

At the end spend a few minutes slowing yourself down to give your brain time to adjust - you can get dizzy otherwise (I do at least and I've heard others do too, I have to go ridiculously slow at the end to give myself time to adjust, and even then usually stand there another minute or two to make sure I'm not gonna…

For me it's been ok, but I've lost super slowly. Lost the first 50-60 lbs over a year or two a few years ago. I've lost almost another 40 since Jan. I'm more 'jiggly' right now but not like 'loosey-goosey' skin wise - most noticeably the flabby arms :p I've read several suggestions, that the more slowly you loose, it gives…

Usually I work my way up to 3.5 after about 5-10 mins (depending how i'm feeling that day). do that for 15-20 mins, then spend another 5 slowing myself back down. If I'm feelin real rough then I may do the 3.5 shorter amt of time and do 3-3.3 instead.

I tried WW over 6+ months last year. And gained 6 lbs. Go figure, lol Using MFP I've lost almost 40 in the last 6 months this year. True I've done more with it than when I was on WW (more exercise for one thing), but anyways, MFP has worked for me. For me it seems easier and more flexible.

Just jumping in to say thanks to those who've posted all the links! I just started reading up on this, but a lot of it went over my head too! lol A lot of sites seem to tell you what to do but not how to do it (which is what I need), so I'm hoping these will help! That and I could use more intro stuff overall anyways since…

What about targeted, thoughtful bashing??

This is what I started out doing initially, since my workfriends were doing WW, and kept talking about flex points, I thought why not allow myself some 'wiggle room' as far as my calories over the course of the week. Now I started on another tracking site that did allow you to view points weekly, which made it easier.…

Certainly! Its a great especially to start, I started off small and have been adding more time as I go along. Start with goals that work for you - if it seems small, but you'll do it, then go for it (no point in setting a goal that you won't stick with). True it can't be like 'window shopping' pace, I think I read that…

Like everything else, in moderation its ok, as well as thinking about what type of sugar you're consuming (better to get it from fruit than ice cream! lol) But its so easy to go overboard since its in so many things you wouldn't think of and quantities - I've seen tomato sauce with more sugar listed than some sweets! I've…

Maybe Tai Chi? I did it in college and it was definitely a stress reliever. If you're in the US you can go to http://usa.taoist.org/ to find classes (they're usually pretty cheap). Or just do an internet search, you may find other classes (at colleges, community centers, etc), as well as videos online.
