  • Eating 800 calories a day is not going to make you feel better. Eat 1200-1500 calories a day (taking in all the food groups - think "everything in moderation", including a little bit of KFC, crisps, chocolate, or whatever else you want, within your calorie goal) and get some exercise in. That will be a great start to…
  • Good luck!
  • Yes - count the calories. Some fruits have a lot of (good, natural, good-for-you) sugar in them. As for the amount you can eat; as much as you can fit into a balanced, nutritious diet (whilst remaining within your overall calorie goals for the day).

  • Sounds good - count me in!
  • Love it. I did a hoop dancing class a couple of years ago and, er, HELLO STOMACH MUSCLES! It is a lot of fun and great exercise. It doesn't provide a massive calorie burn so I do it in conjunction with running and other exercise, but it's good for toning.
  • You're doing really well! You have to stick with it, though. and don't lose heart when this happens. You won't consistently lose weight on a day-to-day basis; exercise, water retention and various other factors will mean that your weight loss won't be linear. If you find yourself getting upset when you see a slight…
  • I have friends who have lost several stone each on DietChef, and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I think you have to be fairly committed to it, and not eat anything "off plan", but the same is true of any weight-loss diet. Good luck!
  • That seems quite reasonable. Have a look around the forums; there are lots of posts from people asking a similar question. Essentially it all comes down to balancing exercise and good eating habits. Good luck!
  • I've just finished week 1 of the C25K app too, and I really recommend it. I'm using the ZenLabs one but I think there are a few different versions out there. I've never been the running type, but it's a good challenge, pushing me ever so slightly beyond my comfort zone and it's much nicer running around my neighbourhood…
  • Bristol is looking decidedly grey this afternoon - feel free to add me!

  • Microgynon made me moody, and sent my blood pressure a bit haywire, so my doctor switched me to Cerazette last September - much better! I also stopped having periods so no crazy weight fluctuations at TOM, which is also good.
  • You are brilliant. Well done!
  • I like porridge too; I make it with water or skimmed milk, usually. A portion actually fills me up, whereas recommended portions of most cereals are tiny. Cereal-wise, I used to eat Special K but I think they've recently changed the recipe so it's unpleasantly sweet now. The Sainsburys own-brand version is quite nice :-)
  • What kind of volunteering are you doing? If it's something fairly active, such as looking after children or doing environmental work, then it's probably not going to be a problem in terms of your weight loss. My limited experience of African food tells me there's quite often plenty of vegetables available. There are also…
  • I find that a warm bath helps.
  • I got married last June, and I'm 28. I have gained an alarming amount of weight (about 25lb) over the winter - oops! Very happy for anyone to add me.
  • You probably don't need to drink so much water if it's making you that uncomfortable.
  • Forget it. I met my fiance online five years ago, and one of the things that I liked about him was that he was totally honest about the fact that he has a child. Little white lies are one thing, but whether or not he has children is going to affect you personally if you get into a relationship.
  • I got a really nice one in Debenhams earlier this year - not sure whether they've still got their summer stuff in but worth a look.
  • You CAN do it - don't ever tell yourself that you can't do it because the whole process has to begin with believing whatever you choose to tell yourself. If you tell yourself you can't do it, then you won't do it. It sounds like you have quite serious issues and it's good that you're seeking professional help for that. I…
  • Move to another timezone. It's the only answer. No, hang on... actually, your body has no idea what time it is, and it certainly doesn't treat your food any differently at different times of day. I think the only thing that would make you gain weight from eating late in the day is not eating enough earlier in the day to…
  • Hi, I'm living in Bristol but originally from Derbyshire. Add me, anyone & everyone!
  • We've been playing with this in the office - I'm a handball player, and my colleagues are wrestlers, weightlifters & an 800m runner. Fun!
  • I think they have - I'm pretty certain there's definitely at least a National Cupcake Day here in Blighty. Or at least there was, until the Olympics came to town and it was renamed "Hey! My Cupcake Looks Like Boris Johnson!" Day. Are we allowed to partake of random icecream cravings induced by Americans…
  • A combination of us (or our parents in the case of children) and also any education system which fails to teach children about good nutrition from the very, very first day of school. It is a myth that it is cheaper to eat fast food than healthy, square meals. Have you been to McDonalds recently? A full adult-sized meal…
  • Same. It made me laugh, though, I love a good breach of normal social boundaries.
  • Yes, I'm British. No, I don't know the Queen personally.
  • Pink fluff! What's brown and sticky?
