I do the warmup routine from NROLFA, followed by some lighter sets of the exercises I'll be doing.

I started stronglifts a month ago, to the day! I am now lifting Squat 92.5 lb Deadlift 101 lb OHP 44 lb Bench 62 lb (not multiples of 5 because I started with a 12kg bar - the biggest one in my gym - and I've been adding 1, 2 or 3 kg per workout (1kg on the OHP, 2kg on squats and bench, 3kg on deadlifts) since I didn't buy…

My schedule is the following: In bed by 11 PM Up at 6:30, go straight to gym (DH still in bed, baby still asleep). I bring a banana for the bus and eat some cottage cheese before leaving. 7:00 gym opens. Work out (I lift weights, my routine takes about 40 minutes). I drink a protein shake at this point on the bus and…

Honestly go a bit lighter on it until you can see a doctor... but this is my story. Last year I used a HRM all the time and I was regularly around 170 BPM when "running" (more like a light shuffle) and 140+ when walking fast. I could still hold a conversation at 170. I would easily get up to 190 or so during spinning. My…

I have a 2 1/2 month old daughter! Anyone on this thread can feel free to add me, working on losing 23 pounds.

I agree with trying different ways of cooking veggies. Ratatouille, veggie soups, etc. I don't enjoy eating veggies but those are meals I enjoy. Especially pumpkin soup. Carrots I like raw but not cooked for example. Leeks are also easy to incorporate in many recipes (various soups, quiches and pies). Frozen peas work…

Name: Lex Hubby/Partner: Daniel How many kids do you have: None yet, I have had 3 miscarriages in the first trimester as well as several chemical pregnancies Due Date: November 5th, 2012 Do you know the gender: It's a girl! Have you picked out the baby's name: Héloïse (the H is silent, pronounced the same as Eloise) Where…

I stopped everything at 5 weeks except walking and swimming because I have a history of recurrent miscarriage (I was doing spinning, rock climbing, weight lifting and running on a regular basis). I quit swimming at 6 weeks because the chlorene made me nauseous. I am just now getting back into swimming. I kept up walking…

That braxton-hicks contractions start so soon... I've had them since 15 weeks, up to 15 per day (got checked out many times, nothing is wrong, its normal-for-me). 27 weeks now and sick of em!

Yeah I think it would work as long as the battery doesn't die. :) Enjoy your ski trip! Usually the raclette, fondue, white wine and potatoes that go with skiing compensate for the burn though in my experience.

I don't deadlift from a box either. I'm not lifting heavy enough just yet to merit adding ROM to my deadlift as the smaller plates ALREADY add ROM. Amaretta, I'd just keep doing 2 sets of 10 pushups like it says in the program but go for a harder variation: feet on the step or even t-push ups. I do my pushups with my feet…

Just did my 3d workout A. I'm happy, I was able to up the weight on the bar for my front squat/push press, and I was able to do a good job with good form - and I felt pretty cool doing it. I'm still not going very heavy (18kg) but it's better than the measly 12kg I could barely manage on workout 1. I also increased my step…

I agree this is a bit of a problem. I'll get more well dones on a day where I ate like crap but came in slightly under than on a day where I went over by 150 calories (I'm on a 250 deficit so it's still under) but hit my macros almost perfectly and ate lots of fruits and veggies. I don't look at diaries every day, just on…

The workouts are much longer :( I don't observe the rest periods at all for the core part at the end of workout B. I just go ahead and do em back to back. I do much harder core workouts back to back in body balance and pilates anyway. In fact I may just skip that part if I'm doing pilates the next day, then I can follow up…

I do 3-6 minutes on the rowing machine (depending on the day and if I had to walk to get to the gym or if I took the bus), then I do the semi-specific warmup moves outlined in the book and two warmup sets. So far that has been working well for me :)

I want to just be told what to do in the beginning, and after doing that for awhile I have reference points to understand what is really going on, how it works, and to tweak the program to meet my own needs.

I have PCOS and one thing I noticed is that by eating better quality food, in the right quantities, and exercising, getting enough rest etc. my cycles have actually regulated and they are nearly NORMAL. I know it won't necessarily work that way for everyone, but after a few months of this healthy lifestyle I am seeing some…

I've been at it for 6 weeks and I have seen improvements in my posture, my butt looks much better than it did before, and my arms look great. I still look a little pregnant because my belly holds onto fat, but c'est la vie. I'm confident I'll lose the belly eventually. That said, my self-esteem has also grown tons since I…

If there's any chance you're pregnant you should take a test, even dollar store tests are super accurate once you're actually late. Apparantly it's super common, for me my cycles have actually normalized with better diet and exercise. Make sure you're not cutting calories too much and getting enough rest (i.e. not…

I'm honestly not a huge fan of the class. I can't even really explain it because I do enjoy lifting weights, just not really in a class setting.

Oh ok that's fine then if you don't like Jillian. I know I do and I enjoyed her workouts before I was ready to start lifting heavier weights (I'm doing NROLFW right now and loving it -- never in a million years did I think I'd be squatting 29kg when I could barely handle Jillian's squats with 3lb dumbbells less than a year…

If that's all the equipment you have and all you're ready for at the moment, I think the best thing you can do is get a Jillian Michaels DVD. They are relatively inexpensive and really work for getting the basics down and for fat loss :)

I didn't read through this whole thread, but you can start with some dancing games if you think that is fun. Or a more "formal" dance class like salsa. You can also try to walk more, if you enjoy nature or live near to some nice parks it can be really beneficial in more than one way (for me, walking and running outside has…

Yes, but we don't know what they were doing before they joined. Maybe they joined because of the great discounts! I know that my gym had a special offer of 50% off the first 3 months if you sign up between Dec 15-Jan 15. I don't mind the newbies at all. I mostly use the free weights and everyone is good about letting me…

My dog is 10 month old lhasa apso! He is very cuddly and extremely loyal to the point of possessiveness. His best friend is our neighbor's labrador and whenever they are both playing in a dog park, he growls at and chases away any dog who tries to play with her! It's kind of annoying but also really funny. When he's not…

First make sure you're calculating your zones right. If you're just getting started your max HR will have to be calculated theoretically, but when you get more fit you can know it for sure (you find out by pushing yourself to max effort, there are some tests explaining it online). The formula is 220-age for men, 226-age…

The cardio room is full, the weights room is about the same as before, I don't really go to the classes anymore except stretching but it's not really a blockbuster class anyway so I've seen no difference. The sauna, jacuzzi and pool though are FULL!! I'm pretty fine with all of it though since I have an elliptical at home…

The 30 day shred, for me, made me enjoy exercise and actually helped me get a little stronger so I could keep up with the classes at the gym when I joined.

Spooky? Unhealthy? No, it's not unhealthy. My thighs don't touch and my BMI is 23! It IS mostly genetics though, and I totally understand why it's desirable. 10 pounds ago, my thighs rubbed together, which was very uncomfortable especially in the summer (walking around). I am lucky in that my thighs no longer rub together,…

I'm in for a January start progress thread! even though I've done 2 workouts in Stage 1 already, the workouts were more about getting familiar with the moves anyway :)
