I'm running my first 5k tomorrow!! I'm super excited :D

Hey there! I'm on the way to become a vegetarian (I've been meat free for a couple of months). Feel free to add me! Dani

I'd say that being under any of your goals is not necessarily good. That said, I'd be more strict about not going over my calories than going over any of the macronutrients (I'm usually over my carbs, can't help it :ohwell: ). Try to keep a balance between all your goals and you will not only lose weight, but stay healthy…

Try to focus on the good things; I'm sure your body is looking better than before, the problem is probably that you're more focused on the defects because now you've come to terms with the fact that you need to lose weight. This won't get done overnight, it's a long journey (and not an easy one), but the important thing is…

I don't have the exact same problem, but I'm a vegetarian and my bf (whom I live with) is not (and loves his meat). We have to compromise; he'll make meat for himself, and a side dish, and then I'll cook something else for me. It's about finding a happy medium, but you need to make sure you talk to your family about this.…

ditto!

Hi all! I'm from Argentina, now living in East Lansing (going to MSU)... quite a change ;)
-
grad student at MSU! Go Green! :D

I'd make sure I have 2-3 pieces of candy (like jolly rancher). Yes, I know they aren't the best, but your brain needs glucose, so it's a good idea to give it its fuel right away.
-
woo hoo! that's great news! Did you do anything different that helped you lose weight again?
-
Terrific job! Kudos to you!!
-
Haha, I'd mix and match, the first half of 1) and then swimming!
-
Feel free to add me, I log everyday and I'm not only interested in losing weight, I really want to be healthy above all. I also have an open diary :)
-
I'm scared now. Do you really think it can be healthy? How do you live on so little food?
-
I'd say gym! and also, you might wanna increase your calories; after two months at 1200 cal a day, I wasn't seeing much of a progress. Following many people's advice, I increased my calories to 1340 a day and dropped 3 pounds in a week. Making changes may be beneficial :)
-
Even though it's true that it may vary from one person to the other, 1200 cal is a well stablished minimum for women. I wouldn't go under that.
-
I was SO needing to read this! I've increased my calorie goal a couple of days ago and I'm not completely confortable with it. Hope it works :) Thanks for posting!
-
It depends on how many calories a day are you eating, but I would say 150-200 cals for a snack is a good number.
-
yes, yes you will! I've been doing that for 2 months and I swear it worked
-
www.skinnytaste.com has a lot of great vegetarian recipes, and also vegetarian times (the magazine) has really good ones :)
-
I work out after breakfast, so I can plan the rest of my meals afterwards, but I still have a good idea of what am I gonna have that day. I'd say never go under 1200 calories, it's too low.
-
sounds delicious! I'm definitely trying these, thanks for sharing!
-
I've been "meat free" since September; at first it was hard to get enough protein but I'm getting better at it. What are you having a hard time with?
-
WOOT WOOT! Great job
-
You look amazing! And the fact that you're smiling in the second picture also helps a lot :) Congrats!

I think you should at least eat 50% of you excercise calories. I've been doing that (even eating all of them) and losing weight. You're already in a calorie deficit, so don't be hard on yourself.
-
I think that saying "good job" to someone eating less that 1200 calories (not 1190, but 1100, 1000, you get the idea) it's a bad idea. Sometimes I'm concerned about people eating too few calories and others encouraging them. In my opinion, the whole point of this site should be to lose weight in a *healthy* way, not to be…
-
I didn't know that either! Thanks for sharing :)

If your intake should be 1600 cals a day, I'd assume that's the NET intake. Which means that if you burn, say 400 cals working out, you should eat a total of 1600 + 400 = 2000 that day. You're probably already on a calorie deficit if you eat 1600 cal/day. If a doctor said you should set your goal to 1600 cal/day, that's…

I'd say eat your excercise calories, at least half of them. Don't get too hard on your body, it won't appreciate it! Good luck! :)
