  • Make sure you are eating enough calories...I saw your diary entry for today wasn't even 1000cals. Try to eat a balanced diet with plenty of vegetables and fruits...fibrous foods will fill you up. There's no reason for you to be starving if you stick to your 1600cal target.
  • I totally agree. I drink Vega One shakes for breakfast most mornings (mixed with a few bananas) and they are great! The new formula is GMO free so you know there's nothing synthetic in there either. I do not believe you need Shakeology to be successful on a Beachbody program.

  • Ahaha oooh I know what you mean! For me I just do what I can, which usually means weight training but cutting back on the cardio until I'm feeling up to it. Just do what you can and don't beat yourself up over it. So long as you don't go crazy eating junk food for that week then it shouldn't matter too much. Not sure on…
  • Having to make a run for the bus and nearly losing my pants! Realising that I can actually pull my current pair of jeans all the way down with ease without unbuttoning them. Time for a size down I think!
  • when I was wearing a size 8 (I'm currently a 10) I was about 150lbs. I am 5'8 and I have average hips. When it comes to your body type you can get rid of fat and you can firm up muscle but you cannot do anything about your bone structure. Maybe pay less attention to the size and more to the measurements?
  • Wow, nothing like having a supportive partner! pffft. You could tell him that unless he has a degree in sports nutrition and exercise, he can keep his opinions to himself. Eating once a day? That's crazy. Perhaps you can tell him that a HIIT workout for 30mins is far more effective for weight loss than one hour running on…
  • I make quinoa burgers with black beans and steak seasoning...super easy. Also if I don't want to actually make burger patties I just add some homemade spicy tomato sauce and the beans and serve it on a grilled portobella mushroom cap with some salad greens. It's soooo good like that! Quinoa salad is also awesome.

  • I don't see how you can be burning 600cal a day for every P90X workout. I wore my HRM yesterday while doing the shoulders and arms workout and burned 317cals. Doing Kenpo X burns closer to 550cals for me. I am restarting P90x after a long break. I completed the 90 days and didn't see huge results and I think that is…
  • *currently enjoying a huge bowl of zucchini noodles with acorn squash sauce (with nutritional yeast, herbs and spices*
  • ok...I did a lot of research on the vegan lifestyle before deciding to undertake a partial vegan diet for health. I realised that I was consuming too much junk food and sugar and I was feeling like crap. For me, I have been using the vegan way of eating as a starting point for adding a lot more vegies and fruit into my…
  • Welcome back! You CAN do it! Just start with small changes like replacing pop with water & lime juice, chips and dip with baby carrots and dip, cake with a sweet piece of fruit etc. If you find it easier to start with cleaning up your diet the first month and not worrying about exercise, then do that! And remember that you…
  • I bet mashed potatoes with cottage cheese with some nutritional yeast would be excellent! I like gourmet cottage cheese from Vito Dairy. It has a far better consistency than a lot of other cottage cheeses...it's really dry and very bland so you can add whatever you like to it to make it tasty. Nomnom
  • I was wondering the same thing. I'm not vegetarian but trying to keep fats low while eating meat protein is difficult. Low fat cottage cheese is definitely a fav. You can blend it into soups, vegie sauces, or mix in a little basil pesto and place on top of cucumber slices. I also drink Vega all-in-one nutritional shake…
  • I cannot have any kind of junk food in the house. I have no self control and will eat an entire bag of family size chips in one sitting if it's there. I have learned the only way for me to control my snacking is to stock my fridge with huge amounts of vegies and fruit so I have no other option. I would also rather stuff…
  • I would suggest choosing more calorie dense foods. Dates for example are high calorie and aren't hugely filling so you could probably easily add say 5 dates to a smoothie and you would boost your calorie intake to a better level.
  • Hey! I just wanted to say congrats on reaching your goal AND being able to stop counting calories. I think what you are doing is great....so long as you keep up with the exercise and eat clean, low fat, nutritious food there shouldn't be any need to count the calories. You probably are well into the routine of knowing how…
  • Hi Kat, I do not have fibro (though a dear friend struggles with it), however as I was investigating the raw vegan lifestyle this year I kept coming across stories of people who had drastically reduced their symptoms through this lifestyle. So my suggestion would be, as well as the gluten, to cut out all processed foods,…
  • I agree with the above posters....it's impossible to say if that is a good day of food without knowing how many calories you are consuming. You mention exercise but not how many times a week you are doing that. Having said that, I would say that is a nice clean looking diet though I would be worried you aren't eating…
  • I recently got into making sughetti (zucchini spaghetti) and i LOVE it! I just use a mandolin and it works out great. I don't cook my noodles, just add a cooked sauce, or even raw is awesome. I made a sauce last night using 2 small acorn squash (baked in the oven) 1 clove of garlic, half a cup of low fat gourmet cottage…
  • Awesome! I just started weaning myself onto the Raw till 4 lifestyle and though I'm still having a few animal products here and there I've noticed a big difference in the way I feel! No more bloating or feeling heavy and gross after a meal. At the same time I feel like i'm going through a bit of a detox because i've been…
  • Mmmm, roasted in the oven. Doesn't need anything on it. Also you can cut it into slices and cook it with some other vegies (peppers, zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes etc) and you have a tasty, healthy side dish. Love my sweet potatoes...nom nom
  • I don't agree with Tuscnina....good workout bands are expensive and if you are using them in place of dumbbells you need a set ranging in resistance. Sure buying one light band may be cheap but they aren't as effective as the strong bands. You also need to be able to attach one to a door for the "pull up" workouts. One of…
  • P90x is expensive for sure and you need to also buy weights/resistance bands, a good quality workout mat, a heart rate monitor and good training shoes. It is also a very gruelling program. I would suggest talking to your doctor first and asking what they would recommend. You may be better to start off with a more cardio…
  • I am all for defined, lean muscles! it is my ultimate goal to have 18% body fat and some noticeable muscle...and a flat stomach!
  • I think the main benefit (for me anyway) of eating smaller more frequent meals (5 a day) means I don't end up feeling starving....when I am really hungry I get grumpy and grumpy me isn't a fun person to be around. :noway: I think this post is right on the money. Too many people are trying to do both, exercise and restrict…
  • Both! (size being muscle not....you know) Who'se Bad?
  • that's amazing! and I think you hit the weights thing right on the money. Lifting heavy weights is the way to do it, as heavy as possible! What fantastic results!
  • hehe! (to the duck comment) I haven't looked at your diary (not sure if I can see it anyways) but I find that eating 5-6 small meals a day makes it easier to eat the correct amount of calories, rather than trying to "stuff it in" in just 3 meals a day. Try to keep all your meals to around the same cal intake....so lets say…
