Google 'bodyweight exercises' you'll get a boatload of websites with training plans/exercises that you can do anywhere at anytime with no extra equipment. And check out a bunch of them so you're not doing the same thing every day, give yourself a good variety and think about what kind of cardio you might be able to mix…

Congrats on your half! A couple basic questions on the joint pain. Have you been to a store that specializes in running shoes and been fitted for the shoe that is right for the way you move? A good running store will have you walk without shoes on to watch your foot movement and recommend the right shoe, they should also…

A cap, for longer distances, also allows you to put ice under it and have the ice stay in place until it melts.

^This^ another runner (4 marathons), cyclist (century rides), and duathloner (international and half-ironman distances) here.

I cut processed sugars cold turkey and was amazaed how fast the cravings went away. Completely gone in less than 2 weeks. I also cut out bananas - highest sugar content of fruit and red apples - higher sugar content than Granny Smiths.

This ^ Try not to think of it so much as eating more... think of it as fueling your workouts. Your muscles need fuel to build and repair before they can look toned. Give them something to work with pre-workout then give them something to recover with post-workout. These shouldn't be huge meals before and after, just a good…

Lots of processed foods in you log. Take a look at the ingredients list of everything you eat. If you can't pronounce something or the list is eight miles long you don't want to put it in your body. Sure, we all want to be beautiful forever, but food preservatives are not the way to get there. That's not to say you need to…

I would start tracking sodium and sugar. Processed foods contain a ton of both, the deli meats, the packaged foods, try unsalted butter. There does seem to be quite a bit of calories in candy. Do you have a major sweet tooth? I did! I cut out all processed sugar (did you know canned kidney beans have sugar added? What's…

It's not easy, but yes, you can drink too much water. http://www.livestrong.com/article/150718-dangers-of-drinking-too-much-water/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication

the almonds are good, but do get old after awhile. How about walnuts, cashews, raisins, golden raisins... mixed together or when you finish a container of one, swap it out for another on the list

Goodwil here also, just bought a fabulous suit at my local Goodwill a couple weeks ago and stop in whenever my pants size changes. I've shopped ebay in the past as well, but I recommend shopping for brands you are familiar with and sizes you know will fit in those brands

Same here, it really confused other kids in school when they handed out the scissors and tried to hand me the lefty ones. I golf lefty too, I talked to an instructor before buying clubs, she watched me swing the club both ways and said she preferred the way I shifted my weight as a lefty. But as far as the can opener... I…

The 4:1 carb:protein ratio doesn't necessarily need to be liquid either. You can get that ratio from a mixture of raisins and nuts or various other solid foods, although if you opt for solid food rather than the liquid, you should drink water to re-hydrate.

Peanut butter is OK as long as it's natural without all the chemicals and preservatives. Almond butter, walnut butter, those are good too.

Smoothies... I use milk, yogurt, avocado, nuts (almonds or walnuts), and frozen fruit... or milk, yogurt, avocado, pureed pumpkin, pie spice, walnuts. I use whole milk and whole milk yogurt... the healthy fats will keep you full longer and less likely to be starving by lunch. With a magic bullet type blender it's easy to…

40s can be fabulous, 42 here. Competed in a race this summer (my 4th year for this race)... 2 miles of kayaking, 12.4 miles biking, 3.1 miles running. The first 3 women to cross the finish line were all in the 40-44 age group!!! Happy to say I was 2nd... will be happier next year when I come in 1st LOL

That reminds me, I need to go to the Stoneyfield Farm website and print coupons for yogurt!
-
I add whole milk yogurt or Greek yogurt and fruit - mix it the night before and put it in the fridge, overnight the oatmeal soaks up some of the liquid instead of cooking it. Letting it sit overnight does make for a less "slimey" texture than microwaving or cooking.
-
I set everything out the night before also, but as far as waking up I'm the opposite. I try to just roll out of bed, put my clothes on and get out the door before my brain realizes what I'm doing. If I take time to think about it, I'll talk myself into trying to get in a run after work, which never works at the end of the…

I've podiumed 1st in age group by default the last 3 years at an Adventure Race that I do (2 mile kayak, 20k bike, 5k run). I say by default because the woman who comes in 1st in my age group every year, is always 1st overall female which eliminates her from the age group awards. My first year there was a woman who came in…

I use KTtape and can take care of most issues with the videos they have on their website. I'll often use the spray BioFreeze after applying the tape, it helps it stick better. BioFreeze is also available in a roll-on and a gel.

I have the Sufferfest Downward Spiral video, I love it!

Nicely Done!

I've done 4 fulls and a couple halfs. Started doing duathlons (run, bike, run) last year and became hooked! Did a half ironman duathlon last weekend, 6 hrs 24 min wth a very hilly bike course.

I would first see the best sports massage therapist you can find in your area. I've pretty much given up on my primary care physician knowing anything about the aches and pains of an athlete.

Same here, I can pretty much guarantee I get the same spot each time and don't have to remember where I parked LOL
