I'm in! Let's do this!

I like protein powder mixed with non fat yogurt and fruit... but I lift weights very often and am getting ready to enter a phase where I'll need about 300 grams of protein a day and that is really the only way to do it.

Not a veg here, but the advice to use veggies to add to what you eat is very good. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but starving yourself is counter productive to losing weight. if you do that your body will think it is in a famine situation and try to hold on to every calorie you eat. Eat healthier foods. Eat human…

Congrats on your progress so far. I am not too familiar with kettle bells other than knowing what they are. I just wanted to pass on to you that in general, for beginners, the fitness program you choose isn't the most important thing. It's discipline. What I mean is that if you look at most of those programs, one of the…

I remember when I weighed myself and I was under 200 lbs for the first time in 10 years. That is such a H U G E landmark for a lot of us! If you do what it takes to get there, then you deserve it!

I think that's a great idea. Sounds like it would really help to keep a person motivated because instead of one seemingly unobtainable far away goal, you always have a goal right around the corner. Smart!

That is how MFP helps. it helps you be constant! We are all here to help! Feel free to add me as a friend. I love to help and could use the help…

Thank you!!!!! It is so awesome to look in the mirror and not recognize your own body! I feel I still have a long way to go to reach my goals, but now I know it is possible.

That depends on your goal. If you are in maintenance mode, then you want to hit your caloric goal as consistently as possible. If you are trying to lose body fat, then coming under your caloric maximum in a healthy way is OK. Good luck! Anyone fee l free to add me if you like. I love to help and could use the help myself…

I agree. Many people make the mistake of jumping into the deep end before they learn to swim. If you have had a lifetime of eating "garbage" and then try to eliminate all of it all at once, you are making it more difficult for yourself. Take baby steps at first. One good habit will make it easier to adopt another. instead…

Taste it. Even if it's curdled and you drink a cup of it, it won't kill you... probably just give you real bad gas. :-)

Hi twade1972. As a 42 yr old Firefighter, I understand shift work and the feelings of wanting to be in better shape as you get "older". MFP is a great tool because it lets you actually see what your diet is doing and it helps you set goals. Stick with it. We are all here to help you make it! Good luck!

Find another way to deal with those issues. I know in theory it's replacing one addiction with another, but try exercising. Anytime you feel the need to eat (outside of normal meals) get up and do something until the feeling passes. Stretch, walk, run, dance, jump up and down, whatever. Just do something that moves you and…
