For about a week I didn't work out . Granted it was only a week. But it was after my kettlebell competition and I was told to take it EASY. So I took that to heart and didn't do anything except play video games with my kids, rewatch all the seasons of Game of Thrones, and got hooked on Orange is the New Black...lol.. When…

No,I'd just eat the snickers and not use exercise as punishment. I used to be a binger, I used to also over exercise when I couldn't binge. Nope, not gonna do that again. One snicker won't hurt you. Eating one to two everyday will. Eat it, move on...get a great training session in next time without thinking of the darn…

hmm..it depends..When I was training for kettlebell sport I would eat up to 2100. That's with three training sessions a week. When I am not training I tend to stay around 1600-1900 naturally. Like this week was an off /deload week for me with no activity. I tend to naturally stay around that 1600-1900. I'm 5'3 at 124 lbs

My breasts..just kidding. I WISH!!!! Seems like my thighs...but I am ok with that.

Not sure about T25..but stronglifts you definately need a barbell. If you have access to dumbells Nia Shanks has a great bodyweight/dumbell program for only $9.99 and her Beautiful Badass bodyweight workout guide is $17.99. Only your body needed. She has some great programs. Simple but progressive.

One of my good friends is a beachbody coach and gave me a free bag of shakeology( I am sure hoping I would turn into a customer). It was ok. But I tried it once and gave the rest to my neighbor. I'd rather eat real food, and I already have a fav shake if i have one at all. It's too much and you can get GREAT results…

Awesome! thanks for sharing...going to make this!!!

As a female 315 would be a challenge. And for an untrained man like the OP, I bet it will be. Anyways, if someone like the OP has never attempted deadlifts or worked on them progressively. Yeah.. it will be difficult. And if he can manage to get it up without properly training for it, he will HURT himself. If he has been…

AGREED! I don't know if you guys know who Jen Sinkler is , but she has a great shirt that reads- Q- What do you do for Cardio? A- I lift weights FASTER! I must get that shirt. I do kettlebell sport which requires ALOT of endurance. I lifted the kettlebell for 10 straight minutes without putting it down, one hand switch. IT…

People, let the guy lift 315 lbs. Heck if anything has more carryover to outside the gym..its the deadlift for sure. If you have no idea about the above then you arent lifting very much in the gym, are you? And I read your previous thread about groups of sorority girls doing deadlifts in yoga pants and how bothersome it…

Agreed! Progression is SO important. There is a book called New Rules of Lifting for Women. Great place to start. I barely sweat when I am powerlifting, although I get REALLY fatigued toward the end of my work sets. But my bodyshape has changed dramatically.

TO the OP: congrats on the new you and your mindshift. My own journey is VERY similar to yours. I started of wanted to run off my baby weight and then switched to just lifting heavy and love being strong and my body just looks better..(I no longer run, I just lift weights!..) Awesome job.

You can't "tone" what's not there. Lift HEAVY. And then Lift heavier. I lift heavy and i am not bulky. I powerlift and for "cardio" although I prefer the word conditioning, I just lift weights faster. LOL. My conditioning of choice is kettlebells and I just competed in my first kettlebell sport event. I WISH to all heck I…

To the Op..I'd be one of those people that would suck at basketball. Heck, I have an NSV post on here just about that, how I sucked at almost every sport...as an adult I found out I can outlift alot of people, especially in my peer group and now compete in kettlebell sport in the longcycle event. So how can I be so good at…

I try to eat my bodyweight in protein(and I try to do it in whole foods first before reaching for a protein shake)...and let me tell you it's HARD as heck for me! I usually am not hungry by the time I get close to hitting that number and whenever my protein is high my carbs are usually low. So eating lots of protein…

The great thing is, after I was done lifting..I was asked to join a local kettlebell sport team. AT this competition there were some athletes on teams, as opposed to me and my lonesome. Maybe it took 30 something years for someone to ask me to join their team...but these strong females did. As soon as I was done lifting,…

Wow what a view! Good job on the hike! Nature rewarded you with beauitful scenery!

Good job!!! I drink a lot of water too!

Thanks guys! I had so much fun. I met some great, strong women at the competition. I was so honored to be lifting besides them and cannot wait to compete AGAIN. It is highly addictive!

My coach just has me doing three days a week. Keeps me from getting burnt out.

Just like another poster said- injuries. I can defiantely feel my abs engage when I am squatting, especially that front squat. Whoo whee. I might not have a six pack but i have my ab strength to thank for my heavy squats, deads.etc. All it takes is to throw out one's back to appreciate what the abs are really supposed to…

You look good! When I was a runner i was skinny fat too. Then I found powerlifting and kbells! Awesome to hear about females not afraid to put on the muscle. Look forward to hearing more about your journey!!!

TO the Op- I've been there, thought that. Heck, I came across an old blog post of mine from years ago when I was writing about trying to keep my cals low..fast forward to now.. My goals are now performance based and that has helped tremendously. If you can't actually look skinny, what's the point? Actually there are many…

You look stunning! You are going to motivate and inspire people!

I eat chocolate everyday..BUT it could be (a graham cracker spread with marscarpone cheese and my favorite chocolate sprinkles(from the Netherlands I got at this frou-frou market here in Chicago) on top. I ate that for about a week everynight. Heck, I am still eating that every night. I'm not to hung up on breakfast, lunch…

To OP- Fire that trainer. Look at my pic..I do powerlifting and have competed in squats, deadlifts and bench..and for conditioning(I do kettlebells) i just lift them faster! Lol! I do not look bulky. Instead i got the curves I was brainwashed into fighting against, and trying to retain the figure of a prepubescent girl.…

When I was concentrating on powerlifting, I always did my lifts first, conditioning after. 220 lbs(that's heavy for me) squat required me to be fuly focused. If I fail during conditioning, the most that wil happen is I have to stop and catch my breath...if I fail during a heavy lift, I might seriously injure myself.…

Getting a specialty cert will help set you apart from the competition. Of course I don't recommend just getting an additional cert(in addition to the pt one) just because. I HATE kickboxing, zumba, yoga etc..so none of that appeals to me so I just wouldn't. I have had the opportunity to get those certs but I know I'd just…

I competed in my first powerlifting competition last Sept(I started off with STarting Strength and continued with Wendler's 531 to prepare me for my comp)... It did not make me bulky at all! I will be competing again in August! Don't be afraid!

Hyde Park in the MFP house!! I mainly do kettlebells and powerlifting!
