Just got married in May. Came from Australia and got married at the Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. Thanks to Shaun T for helping me fit into my dress ;)

A few years back I started running and it used to take me an hour to do 5 km with a break at half way. My PB is around 27 mins now and I did my first full marathon last year. Don't worry how fast other people run. Do what you can and with some training and commitment, you can achieve much more than you ever thought.
-
I also say try C25K. I really wish I would have started this way. I wasn't as heavy as you when I started, but I sure was slow. Don't worry about what people are thinking. You're out there and that's all that matters. The only people you should be comparing yourself to is yourself. When I started running, I couldn't run…

Big day is May 6th next year. We're travelling from Australia to Hawaii and getting married at the Hilton Waikoloa and then doing a big honeymoon on the mainland. So excited!!
-
We're not married yet, but we got our wedding bands and took a photo. I love my ring so much.

Are you eating breakfast and morning tea? I used to suffer from the same thing before my nutritionist reprimanded me about the fact that I wasn't eating either. Since I started eating both those meals, I never get those intense cravings like I used to.

Have you tried the classes vs just using the equipment? I have a gym membership and go 2-3 times a week and I only ever do the classes. I love them. They are a lot more fun than running on a boring treadmill (and I'm a runner!) My personal favs are the cardio classes like Body Attack, but if you're into more dance style…

Oh, also I did all of those distances using the "run/walk" method by Jeff Galloway. It works for me. Many people don't think it counts if you walk, but I pass a lot of non-stop runners before the finish line using this method and it helps with my injuries too. A good physio also helps.

I started running 2 and a half years ago and I couldn't run to my front door, but had marathon dreams. I ran casually for a while on my own with help from my dad who is a runner, but I wish I had done the C25K program. There is no better way to start. In my first year I ran a 5k, trained for a 10k last year and just…

Why do you want to run a marathon so quickly? Good way to get yourself injured and never enjoy running again. I started running 2 and a half years ago, did my first 5 km in the first year, trained for the 10km the next year and trained for the half this year. Next year I will train for the full. Half marathon is doable for…

It's not even-stevens though, because by coming on here and having a set calorie goal to lose weight, even if you add exercise and eat those calories back, your net calories are still at the level for weight loss.
-
Yes. Most of the exercises I do I have used a heart rate monitor for, so know pretty well how many calories I am burning and add them accordingly. Sometimes I eat them all back, sometimes not. I don't stress about it too much.
-
See a physio. Mine got me through a half marathon with sore knees and hips. The right shoes and doing stretches makes all the difference.
-
Good question. It's like the days where you do everything you can not to go for a run cause you really don't want to do it, finally end up going and end up having a blinder.

I never wear make up anywhere. The only places I've ever worn it was at a wedding (I was a bridesmaid) and at my school formals. The thought of wearing make up to the gym mystifies me.
-
I need to go get re-sized, but I reckon I've lost a cup size or two. I am happy with that. It will make running a lot easier anyway.
-
I didn't, but I wish I had. Even though I have lost 13 kg and two dress sizes, I still find it hard to notice the change in the mirror when everybody else says how good I look now. Having said that, two things happened this past week which made it sink in. First was trying on wedding dresses. I never wanted to go strapless…

I am running my first half on Sunday. My training has been surprisingly easy. I use Jeff Galloway's run/walk method. I highly recommend visiting his site, even if you don't want to do run/walk as he has a training program up on there. I modified it slightly (I don't like to do a run longer than the race during training -…

Obviously it makes it hard for anyone with other nutritional requirements, but I second the seeing a nutritionist thing. I've never felt better since being vegetarian and my nutritionist helped me with exactly what I should be eating. Quorn is a God send.

Bump.
-
Not really. The hair is usually there for a reason. Particularly in the private areas.
-
I don't. I did once not long ago cause I bought my first pair of shorts since I was a kid (legs aren't too fat to wear them now :D), but the hair above my knee is blonde and fine, so there's not much point. If it was dark hair I would. I used to go all winter without shaving my legs, but now that I am a swimming…

Get correct shoes, see a physio, stretch. Do those and you should be fine.

My 5km fun run PB is 32:37. The first time I did a 5km fun run my time was 40:43, which was great for me at the time. I always do run/walk (suffer from fatigue). It's amazing how much you push yourself in a race environment, but just remember not to go out too fast. It's really hard not to. You'll do fine. I have taken off…

Yes, how unreasonable of her to be upset about her mother's choice to smoke and physically showing signs of deterioration as a result. If people want to smoke and inflict harm on themselves, then go for gold, so long as it's away from us non-smokers. The problem I have is when I am out in public and have it blown in my…

I could barely jog 200 metres at a time when I started running 2 years ago. Now I have halved my pace from when I started, have completed many races including 10 and 12k and am currently training for a HM. It has completely changed my life, as painful as the process has been. In short, never give up! If I can do it, you…

I too have plateaued at the moment. I have lost 9 kilos since this time last year, am currently on 1340 calories a day going by mfp's suggestion and do cardio (gym classes and running) 4-6 times a week. I can't really do strength training due to injury, so should I try to just up my calories instead to try and kick start…

Just don't push too hard. It's very easy to injure yourself if you go out too hard or too far. Also try not to get discouraged if you have a bad run. They happen all too often. I find the best runs I do are the ones where I have to literally force myself out the front door because I don't want to go. Like the other night I…
