I agree with everyone here who is stating that activity level and size cause a variance in what is necessary for individuals. However, I recently went to a nutritionist for some advice, and she gave me advice that is totally opposite of what mfp suggests. She said that people who are larger have messed up metabolisms so we…

What's the matter with you? I'm severely allergic to kittens. Even talking about them makes my throat start itching! Are you trying to kill me?

My favorite breakfast is Eggo lowfat nutrigrain waffles with peanut butter and a sliced apple sprinkled with cinnamon on top. Oatmeal made with skim milk and a chopped apple with walnuts and a banana added in is good also. If I don't have walnuts, I'll mix in peanut butter. I also eat scramble eggwhites. Cheerios with skim…

Some people are intimidated by anyone they perceive as "different". Maybe they are also intimidated by the confidence it takes to put a permanent work of art on your body. I can't seem to decide what color to paint the living room. I can't imagine choosing a design for my body. I have contemplated getting a yellow rose…

I agree with those who are telling you to give yourself a break. I also think that you should log in what you ate today. I have found that most of the time, my "bad" days are salvageable, or at least not as bad as I thought. I bet when you complete today, the note at the bottom will still say that 5 weeks from now you will…

They think they are complimenting you, maybe even that they are telling you what you want to hear. Just thank them, and continue your healthy lifestyle.

You ARE a pretty woman. Don't let a person with nothing better to do than hang out in a bar and behave like a jerk get into your head. Speaking of getting into people's heads..... I'm just curious... Were you with friends? I ask, because then, even if you didn't have a come back at the time, you could've made a practice of…

Good for you for sticking up for yourself. AND for not smacking her. I would have probably been so shocked I wouldn't know what to say until I got to the car, and then kicked myself for not saying it.

That IS great! What might not be a "big deal" for some people can be great progress for others. I was able to genuflect for the first time in years this past Sunday! Okay, I had a hard time getting up, BUT my knee made it all the way down! Getting up will get better. Celebrate ALL your successes! :drinker:

I say "Good for you!" a lot. It adds variety to comments, so I'm not always saying "Way to Go", "Great!" , etc. I mean it as a pat on the back no matter what. I'd be the last person to decide someone "should be doing that anyway". Why? Because the goal you see on my ticker is merely my MINI goal. I know. WTF(rench toast)!…

In winter I make the bed so as to retain the body heat from during the night. I don't really know if it works, but it's an incentive. In the summer I do not. I do not want to retain body heat in the summer.

Made with skim milk and an apple, banana, and a serving of walnuts. Peanut butter instead of walnuts is also good.

I love Jesus and I completely give Him the credit for being able to do what I haven't been able to do before. I also credit HIm for inspiring a friend to recommend this site, which has been incredibly helpful. I have every hope that He will give me the strength to continue. I also understand that the operators of this site…

Yes. It IS frustrating. Print out your diary. If you think your doctor is a jerk and will say "I don't have time to look at that...", then look at reports and print out reports for net calories for the last 90 days (well, sixty some days) as well so he or she can just look at a bar graph and get the idea at a glance. DARE…

@MrsEb79 I have been treated for hypothyroidism for years. Last year I had female troubles (just email me if you want details. Most people reading this really don't...) and the gyno suggested I get another blood test. Long story short, my doctor didn't want to up my medication because it was "only a little out of range".…

I refuse to feel shame with my husband. From the day he became my husband I let him see any and all of me. He loves me. He tells me I'm beautiful. I own a mirror. I know better. But he sees with his heart, and not just his eyes, and I love him all the more for it!

My husband and I LOVE this recipe! Teriyaki Salmon Filet Salmon Teriyaki Preparation Time: 2-3 hours Microwave Time: 3 to 8 minutes 2 fresh salmon filets (skin on one side) 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce 2 teaspoons ginger 2 clove garlic, minced 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 teaspoons lemon juice Combine the teriyaki…

Sometimes, there just isn't any substitute for butter. I make my mom's french toast recipe with half as much butter, and accept that while it will never taste like hers, it's healthier than hers and ALMOST as good, so I kind of get the best of both worlds. On other things, though, I use olive oil.

No frosting! A little unsweetened cocoa powder over the top of a chocolate cake gives it a NICE contrast of flavor together, but is bitter if you just stick your finger in and taste it. I suppose powdered sugar would also be a better alternative to frosting. A finger dip of powdered sugar probably isn't as bad as a spoon…
