Absolutely your husband should be watching his baby! Give them a chance to bond and enjoy spending time together. Give you some time off... it's a necessity, I think!

Hi, just dropping in to say that a couple of years ago I was completely sedentary. I worked in a job where I sat all day, drove everywhere I went in the car and didn't exercise at all. I started by being dropped 15 min away from work and walking there are back. This was hard work to start with! Then I went for 15-20 min…

Yes! This has happened to me repeatedly (sometimes after only losing a few pounds). I start to look and feel better and I relax my logging/ exercise and then give up logging and slowly the pounds creep on again. As for how to keep going - I'll watch the replies with interest to see how!

The TV, but in my brain, "Evil Eye" by Franz Ferdinand. I can't get their songs out of head since I saw them live a couple of weeks ago. SO GOOD!

I just go to ASDA and buy their lowest calorie own brand pizza then add more chopped veg on top, sometimes a bit more meat like sliced turkey breast and a touch more cheese. Easy, quick dinner and reasonably low cal.

Yup, you are freaking out. Time to breathe, relax and get back to some kind of balance. I'm sure you realise that you're going over the top in terms of exercise and undereating, but for me I think the main battlefield is what's going on in your mind. Do some soul-searching to try and work out what's going on in your head…

Great post and very true! As long as it's not a regular thing, the occasional 'oops' meal isn't the end of the world. Persistence is key to success in weight loss, I think.
-
That's a great healthy choice - I'd say you obviously needed the protein (especially after working out). Log it and move in - in the long term persistence is the key to success!

There is something super-addictive about soft (or crusty) white bread and sweet, crunchy cereals. As I young person, I could easily eat my way through several white bread rolls and even now I could eat half a loaf of ciabatta (warm with loads of butter...). My answer is just don't. Also, as mentioned, swapping refined…

I don't know, 'cos I'm not near my goal yet, but with my goal at 1kg (2 pounds) a week, I still generally only manage to lose about 500-800grams (1 pound or a bit more). I did try buying into the 'eat more to lose more' thing and it totally didn't work for me. I'd say if you're fine as you are, then stay as you are! Or…

Hey, I'm sorry people haven't been nice. My post was intended to be lighthearted and friendly so I hope it was taken in the spirit it was given. Keep up the good work in whatever way works for you and best of luck with it all!

Well done! :) I'm pleased that I can look at my (young, skinny) co-worker stuffing her face with chocolate bars and not be interested in eating them. I did eat a bit of my other co-worker's iced bun, though... It's a work in progress...

GREAT thread, gorgeous ladies! I'm currently a size above where I want to be which is good old size 12(UK) (I think size 8 US?). Another 6-7 kg (14ish pounds) should do it I think. I was an hourglass shaped size 12 when I settled into my adult body in my early 20s and I'm quite comfortable with how I look there. I have no…

I think it's easy for us to 'round down' in our minds and try to reduce the amount of weight we've regained. I've fluctuated by a few kgs over the past couple of years, but I keep an eye on it and eventually do something about it if I get up too far. I'm on my way back down to my lowest recent weight now... one day I'll…

I'd say a couple of things a) I've never weighed food and I've lost 7-8 kg (around 14-16 pounds) BUT I am generous with my estimates of sizes and calorie counts and I under estimate exercise. b) try new Food, now in Delicious flavour! No wonder you're grumpy if you're on two shakes a day! It's not sustainable (and I'll go…

Ooh, this hurts my heart! So your kids are learning 'it's okay for spouses to treat each other disrespectfully' and 'wives shouldn't push back when husbands say hurtful things'? I'd say it would be MUCH better for them to see safe and respectful ways of discussing and negotating differences. It's not like the only two…

Just buy some food, woman! :) (or eat something out of a can? or the freezer? If there's anything there...)

Cereal is the devil! It's like white bread - I could eat buckets of it so I generally avoid it. I eat Alpen porridge every morning - with milk it's around 200 calories. I find porridge (or oatmeal in American) filling and I like having something hot on a cold morning. It only takes a minute in the microwave. If you want to…

Good for you! (and lucky you having a cat - we miss our cat terribly. We moved country and left her with my mother in law).

Yup, as said above, one step at a time. Log everything you eat. Increase you much you move (doesn't need to be a full on gym workout - could be just a walk around your neighbourhood). Stop any guilty thinking in its tracks - focus on your choices, one at a time. Focus on slow and steady loss, not going crazy in either the…

These are great inspirational stories, thanks for sharing guys! I started on this path over two years ago. My mum had cancer and was ill for a few years. As she was getting sicker and sicker I was in a bad place, miserable in my job, miserable about her being ill, wanting to travel and not able to, comfort eating was…

Hi there, I'm not expert, but my thinking on seeing your food diary is just that you're eating way too many calories! I'm 5'4 too and sedentary (office job) and I'm on 1200 cal a day. That means snacks of around 100 cal, breakfast of 250ish, lunch of 300-400, dinner of 400+ plus some exercise to give me a bit of leeway.…

I Googled TOPS - I got lots of places trying to sell me clothes and "Total Operations Processing System, or TOPS, is a computer system for managing the locomotives and rolling stock (railroad cars) owned by a rail system.". I guess you don't mean either of those things? Also, I get hangry if I have I don't eat for too many…

I guess it goes to show that everyone's different. I found that I just didn't lose weight after several weeks on the 'lose 1 pound a week thing'. It has to be set to lose 2 pounds or I don't lose a bit. Part of that is psychological - when I felt like I was cruising, I wasn't as commited to resisting temptation. Also, I…

Totally depends what you like doing on holiday! In terms of English speaking places... If you want warmer weather, in the Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand is great for stunning landscapes, beaches, forests, mountains etc. Australia is warmer, dryer and has diverse landscapes from deserts to tropical forests (and crazy…

I'd love a cat to get in the way! We left our beloved cat with my mother-in-law when we emigrated and we miss her!

I was 24 and I've changed careers several times since then. I was a bit later than my friends as I changed my mind several times about what to study at Uni so I didn't graduate 'till a couple of years later. By real job, I mean full time career type thing, not part time stuff while studying. (Or short term full time while…

Don't cheat! What's with this 'starve then binge' thing? Don't restrict everything you love during the week - as mentioned above, replace things with other similar things or smaller portions. Make sure you eat heaps of lean protein and drink lots of water. Learn what are filling, low calorie foods (I swear by…

And why is there just a woman in the second pic? It's so much more acceptable to be overweight if you're male!

20 pounds lost, great work! Keep at it (I will if you will...)
