I didn't read through all the comments (so sorry if someone already said this) but do you have room to jump rope inside? Or in a garage, right outside your house, etc.? You work up a good sweat and jump ropes are cheap. Google jump rope workouts ... I know I saw someone post one on here the other day, too, so you might try…

Also, I see that you're doing Jillian DVDs, which is a great workout. I do them in a pinch, but I've decided that I sort of hate working out to a DVD in my house. Maybe you need to try working out in a group setting? Good luck! You'll find something you dig. If you are having anxiety about what you're currently doing, it's…

As others have said, you HAVE to find something you like doing. Doesn't matter what it is as long as you're moving. I used to hit the gym and log hours (not all at one time) on the elliptical, and I hated it.It took so little for me to decide not to go. I took up kickboxing about 5 months ago and I LOVE it. I also recently…

Sam, your results are AMAZING! 9% drop in body fat? That's huge. Along with all the other successes - I am so impressed and super encouraged by your results. Well done!! :drinker: And good luck with NROL for Abs.

That is AWESOME! :) I did workout 5B on Tuesday. Man, I love this program! I am already seeing a big visible difference in my arms (though still LOTS of room for improvement :) ) and I just feel soooo much stronger. The other day my boyfriend (who lifts with me at the gym) made a comment about how strong I was. Made me…

I don't eat meat anymore, but my BF would love this - thanks for sharing the recipe!

All of the above. Also, avocados are another calorie-dense (and delicious) food. ETA: Go with whole grains on the rice, breads, etc., if you're going to use them. I try to use them sparingly and don't really use them to bump up my calories. Nuts, seeds, PB, avocado, though - those are in regular rotation in my diet! Olive…

I do - friend request sent! I think a lot of these get missed in the sea of intro posts. I think it's fantastic that you're trying to lose the weight on your own first and would be happy to offer support. It's always nice to have extra motivation!

Wow - you look stunning! And what a beautiful family you have. Well done on the loss! :drinker:

Can't stop giggling ... you win. ;)

I think your estimate is probably a little high (which is a good thing, I'd rather overestimate than under), but how the chicken is cooked would make a difference. My best guess would be 140 for the tortilla, roughly 200 for the chicken, and 30ish for the carrots/salad, so that's 400. I would say err on the side of caution…

Are you eating enough? It sounds a little counterintuitive, but I recently read in the New Rules of Lifting for Women book that not eating enough for your activity levels can have you losing sleep at night. Are you just having trouble falling asleep or do you not stay asleep throughout the night? If it's the former, it…

I am halfway done with Stage 1 and I STILL hate the prone jackknifes. I can do them a heck of a lot better than I did during my first embarrassing attempt, but they are still really tough for me. From what I understand, the most important thing is not getting your bum high in the air but making sure you roll back to the…

WOW!!! What a huge difference - you did great!

Seconded. I LOVE my Polar FT4. So easy to set up and use, and you don't notice the chest strap at all. I never work out without it.
-
Yep! I have some areas that look MUCH better and some that have been slower to show a change. Unfortunately, you don't lose weight/fat uniformly from all areas. Keep on keeping on, though - you will start to see a difference there in time!
-
I would absolutely say you're not sedentary. 3 hours a day doing physical activity is significant - I would at least go for lightly active. That will mean an increase in your calories. Try eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, too - that might keep you more satisfied?
-
I was going to suggest this - I don't know if they have one at all gyms, but they had one at my physical therapist back when I was in PT and you can get your heart rate going with that arm bike. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery - so sorry for what your husband is going through!

These look good - thanks for sharing!

^^^This. I do the put it in water and see if it floats test (and if it does, that means it's no good), but you already cooked it ... six months is way too long for an egg. Toss it. My friend once ate expired eggs (cooked!) and got very, very ill. He recovered, obviously, but felt like he was knocking at death's door for…

I’ve been peeking at this thread for a while and thought I’d finally pop in and say hello. I will be doing S1 A3 tomorrow. I am only two weeks in, but I am really loving this program. And it is so exciting to see all the progress you ladies are experiencing! Jojojo – that walk sounds AMAZING! What a great (and challenging)…

Yay for your first day! I am doing Stage 1 Workout 3A tomorrow. So only four weeks in but I am LOVING this program. I feel so much stronger already. The first workout was not too tough for me, because I kinda of underestimated where I needed to be with the starting weights. But I definitely felt it the next day. I…

Bring hardier fruits that don't bruise as easily or go bad quickly - avoid bananas, but keep a cache of apples and oranges. They tend to hold up for a lot longer and are staples when we camp.Nuts are fantastic for camping; just watch your serving sizes. I would suggest bringing lentils or rice, as they cook easily over a…
