Good luck to you. This is a great community if you're looking for support!

Although I had been telling myself for years that I needed to lose weight, it was seeing my brother-in-law have some heart trouble and being told by doctors that he had to lose weight that started it for me. This past March, he had some mild heart issues. He weighed in at about 280 (only 5 pounds more than me at the time),…

Phoenix Coyotes, but I also root for the Red Wings.

Lord knows they probably need it! \ It's actually on green screen techniques and film.

Just counting down the 2 hours until lunch (I have to do it early because I'm doing a presentation to some students during my lunch hour).

1. What is your goal? Lose 100 total to get down to 175. 2. How will you know when you get there? My Wii Fit will tell me so! 3. What will you do to celebrate? Change my priorities to MAINTAIN my weight instead of losing weight. (OK, I'll probably also have my favorite pizza to celebrate, then work off the lbs to…

Well said, lessertess. You know, when people have asked me about my weight loss, I've told them "Dieting and exercise", but I think I'll start saying "A lifestyle change". Really, that's what it is. I'm eating things I'd never eat in the past (veggies, turkey burgers), but that's because I've chosen to SUBSTITUTE items,…

Good luck with that! I saw my parents for the first time since this summer, and they didn't know I had lost 55 pounds since then. I kept it a secret as kind of a surprise. They were overjoyed to say the least! Here's hoping you get the same reaction.

Thanks for all the kind words! You know, it's funny. Before, when I was wearing XXL, i just bought short-sleeve polos because you can just throw them on and not worry about it. Yesterday, I bought a couple of L long-sleeve dress shirts because, well, they actually look right on me now. I've always enjoyed dressing nicer,…

..going to the store and finding out you can now purchase large sized shirts instead of the XXL ones that you were purchasing in July! Which, incidentally, is what happened to me this weekend. In fact, I'm starting to think that by the spring, I might even need medium ones.

Don't plug in into the computer until it's completely dry. Put in under a fan for a day to let it dry out.

Spyguys raised a great point. You can do the 10, 20, 30 minute free runs/steps while watching TV, which makes the time go faster. Just remember to keep up the intensity.

Amazing job so far, ladies!

Congrats! You rock. I've got a size 34 pair of shorts waiting for me in my closet when I reach my goal!

The Wii Fit is a great tool. For me, it served as a kick starter. I use it in conjunction with other forms of exercise, but it's great if you are just starting out.

That's the spirit!

I want to be at 205 by January 1st. If I do that, my BMI will be as such that I would no longer be classified as obese. That would make me happy. I would also have lost 70 lbs by then (at 55 right now).

It's OK. Remember, there's no set deadline you have to meet to hit a certain weight, right? I remember way back when, I was interested in doing some weightlifting. I talked to my cousin who was a serious bodybuilder, and he told me that in order to get to where I wanted to be, it would take me a year. My mentality at the…

I did home for the last 4 months, but I'm ready to do the local activity center because of their equipment- it's stuff I don't have, It's not very busy there at all. I had a YMCA membership, but it was $50 a month, and you had to wait for machines because it was so busy. The local activity center is $50 a YEAR.

I try to do at least 45 minutes a day 5 times a week. Over the past week, I've extended that to an hour. I'm thinking within the next few weeks of adding a weightlifting component it, because it's basically been cardio and yoga for the past 4 months.

Finally being able to touch my toes was a big one for me, too.

Thanks for the kudos- That actually reminds me of a 'kinda' funny story. I bagged up my 44-42s to give away to Goodwill. Then I remembered a co-worker who told me her husband was on the heavy side, so I thought I'd give her first crack at them. I called her up and said, "I have some clothes that don't fit me anymore. You…

Those are interesting shoes, to say the least. I was thinking of getting running shoes, but those take the cake!

Yow! When I hit 50 lbs, all I bought were jeans! Yours looks much more fun.

Come to think of it, I was happy when I found reduced fat Pilsbury Cinnamon Buns and Fat-Free Pepperjack Cheese!

I've substituted wheat items for flour products. There is some tasty wheat pasta out there, which satisifies some of my cravings. Turkey sausage is pretty good, too. Wheat torillas are pretty good, too. In fact, I don't think I've come across any 'substitutions' that I thought weren't any good.

I had something cool like that happen to me this summer. I got a great deal on a Ralph Lauren shirt that was supposed to be XXL, but apparently his clothes run small, so it fit me tight (too tight to wear on vacation). I put the shirt aside thinking I was going to return it, but I never did. A few weeks ago, after losing a…

Thanks. The kind words always work wonders! I'm mainly looking for infomation on toning and building muscle. I've had a gut for most of my adult life, and I really want to get rid of it!

I can vouch for it. I lost 55 pounds using it in conjunction with other exercise and dieting. If you would have told me 6 months ago that I'd be doing yoga I would have laughed at you, but I must say that the Wii Fit makes it easy. If mine broke tomorrow, I'd be tracking down a new one within the hour. Like it was…
