• I just ordered from truenutrition.com I'll have to let you know how I like it You can customize your protein powder. They have a bunch of different kinds of pure protein powder, with options to add supplemental vitamins, carbs, even flax oil powder. I did a blend of pea protein, brown rice protein and soy. But they even…
• I'm at the beginning of month 2 on CLX. When I first started, I went to target and bought these: http://www.target.com/p/reebok-adjustable-pair-weights-black-silver-25lb/-/A-13653199 They go up to 12.5 pounds each. As someone with little natural upper-bod strength and a newbie to heavy lifting, these were perfect. Then a…
• Thanks, guys. I was really having my doubts. I didn't think I was gonna gain so much as have no progress. I felt like I had "done this" before. But I had never really kept it up. I always gave up and tried a drastic diet. Sticking it out is working so far. Let's hope this keeps up. If it does, I may post a real picture in…
• Even if you already have, you can probably shrink them. First just wash in HOT water and AIR DRY. See how they fit. If they're still too big, then next time wash in hot water and dry on high heat. When they're fresh out of the washer and/or dryer, you may wanna tug at the bottoms to make sure they don't shrink up too high.
• Thanks foe the reassurance, guys. We can get so used to the kind of diets that come with punishment for doing wrong. 500 cals over on 1200 is huge! But 500 over 2000 is less of a big deal.
• I have been doing Chalean Extreme - a heavy lifting program that has a DVD - because I like following along and not having to think about anything but getting through each set. I bought adjustable weights from target. They were $69 and could adjust from 2.5 pounds all the way up to 12.5 pounds. You can adjust in 2.5 pound…
• Of course I won't let it happen all the time. That wouldn't be a diet, now would it? I'm usually dead-on with my cut, but I wasn't able to go home for dinner, then had a drink at a show. I decided not to even bother counting them up when I got home. So, I guess cutting a little extra today is a waste of time - not so much…
• I think the idea is that if you're exercising consistently (at whatever level/ timeline, just consistently), then the cut should be consistently above bmr. Therefore if you keep netting below on workout days, you probably are more active that what you used to get your numbers.
• I'm nearly a month into this and Chalean Extreme (lifting). My waist has gone down an inch and my hips up a little bit. So maybe this is common? I'm not terribly worried about it. I think I'm adding muscle on my legs/ hips. Eventually that muscle has to conquer the fat, right? :-)
• They make weighted gloves that a lot of people use for kickboxing. Something like that would probably help keep you challenged.
•
I am drinking plenty of water but my allergies have been crazy with all this wind!!! According to my BMF, I'm averaging about 6 hours of sleep a night. I do a lot of tossing and turning so that's contributing, I'm sure, to my exhaustion.
Seasonal allergies can be draining. You might be tired from that!…
• I hate taking thing, too! I will often wait until I feel the allergies coming ont o pop a pill, since some days aren't so bad. And there's always the Neti pot if you're a brave soul. The allergy thing finally came to light for me after months of getting everything else tested. I was tired, sluggish, even depressed. They…
• I'm not one of the "experts" here, but how tall are you? 1880 seems okay-ish. How many calories have you been eating? Wild question: Any seasonal allergies? I have been through times where I am EXHAUSTED and sluggish and all things you've mentioned and it turned out I was being hit with allergies. Adding some Claritin…
• Thanks. I'm not sure I can handle more equipment, but it's good to know they will strengthen. I'll look into gloves. :)
• If you can get the boot wet, maybe you could find some water aerobics or water Zumba. Then you could avoid putting weight on it.
• I have had knee problems in the past too. i have to watch my jumping - which is hard because I get so into it. I have found it gets better as my legs get stronger. Not sure about any science behind that, but it's the case for me. I think 30 DS has strength, so it'll probably just get better as you go. But you might need 2…
• I wonder if you're thinking of Turbo Fire? CE is a weights program with HEAVY weights. Whatever heavy is for you. To the OP: I'm just not sure the other cardio in necessary. Maybe sleep in during the CE cardio days and use the gym days to do your own HIIT workouts at the gym? Then you'll get enough sleep to repair those…
• Which is a typical mosconception many women have about their own bodies. 90% of people in general think that they are building muscle by lifting weights, when what they're actually doing is training their existing muscle to respond to stimulus efficiently. This makes them stronger, but doesn't in fact build...anything.…
• Are you running in the morning? You might try running after work or just before it gets dark (since that's happening later these days). I find if I run earlier in the day, I'm hungry all day. Whereas if I run later, I just have time for dinner and then bed. (Maybe a snack before bed - running makes me hungry too) You could…
• I have the same question! By 9 or 10 or so I am starving. And I can't sleep unless I eat something. It's not just sweets or something, too. I want a sandwich or more of what I had for dinner or something. I've been working out with weights (Finally, I know) for a little less than a month. Before that, all yoga and…
• Haha, thanks both of you. I definitely drink green smoothies and green juice. I haven't really been paying attention to fat, just protein. Are you saying have a "normal" amount of fat? Or that as a vegan I should have even more fat than a non-vegan. I will also try to up my water. I think that might be a big part of it,…
• http://kblog.lunchboxbunch.com/2010/06/vegan-chive-ricotta-nut-cheese-spread.html Scroll down for more flavor options. Also, google "chia pudding."
• If the plan is to juice once a week or so, I'd recommend a cold-press style juicer. I have the Omega VRT. It doesn't heat the juice, so it stays fresh longer and doesn't destroy enzymes. Fresh juice is best, but if you don't have that time, this is the next best thing. It also leaves a bit of pulp in there so you get a bit…
• When you go for a walk, do you get halfway and then turn around an retrace your steps? Or do you make a loop? If you make a loop, you may be on uneven pavement, which is stressing one side more than the other. You may also have on leg shorter. A trip to a running store can fit you with good shoes and even an insert on just…
• SALT!!! You may have excreted electrolytes in your sweat. Many of us are "salty sweaters." Next time you run, check the sweaty areas on your clothes. Sometimes you can even see white, kinda crusty bits of salt. Not cute, but good to know. When i was marathon training, I'd eat a salt packet a couple times on looooong runs.…
• For me - I always get lower back pain when I start running again. It usually goes away after a couple of weeks. I think it's just soreness from using those muscles in a new way. I also have a very pronounced curve to my spine (in at waist, then back out), which puts more pressure on that lower back area. That being said,…
• When I was training for a marathon, they told us to weigh ourselves before and after a run. If we weighed less afterward, that meant we hadn't drunk enough water. So if you're looking for a healthy way to channel your obsession (if there is such a thing), then if you weigh less after, drink more water! And don't be…
• Have you looked into the Brazil Butt Lift? I've been doing it for 2 weeks and already notice my legs getting stronger. Supposedly it works the derriere as well, but the leg work is impressive. The Bum Bum workout is 30 minutes of hell, but it actually kind of flies by. I think you can get it from a beachbody coach - I got…
• I like your theory. I really like sculpt. It is pretty much ALL arms, a little abs, and no real butt or thigh work. In case you were worried. It's a nice break from all the lower body and will keep you balanced. I am amazed at how out of shape my arms are. But I'm working on it!
