  • Is there any kind of artificial sweetener in the powder? Splenda or aspartame will make me puff right up. Stevia doesnt bug me, though. Since its more natural.
  • I thought you might appreciate this: http://jezebel.com/5921867/what-do-you-do-when-your-10+year+old-girl-says-shes-fat?popular=true Posted today.
  • To address the pictures - you do NOT look bigger now. You look great! I like the way weight lifting makes me feel - I love being stronger. And not bulky at all. it has made my arms sleeker. And, although it pretty much won't ever happen - IF (big "if"), you bulk up, then just reduce weights. Simple as that. But you won't.…
  • Yes! I was amazed that when I asked my mom to come to a zumba class with me - she did! Now she goes once a week! Sometimes people are afraid to try new physical activity on their own, so if you bring it up, she might wanna join. Make sure you tell her she can go at her own pace or that you won't kill her :-) And don't say…
  • I've always felt that way - so I decided to start working out "like a guy." I weight train with serious, heavy barbells and take in a lot of protein. It's been almost 2 months and I haven't lost pounds, but inches and I'm toning up. Not as fast as a guy, for sure, but time will tell... I think a big part of it for me is…
  • Yes, definitely. Kickboxing is even listed as "Kickboxing (including Turbo Jam)," Turbo Jam being the home video version of Turbo Kick. :-)
  • thanks for the responses. I took a few days off from it and will try to wear it tomorrow after I give ti a good cleaning. I got it to get a general tdee for myself, so I might wear it a few times a week instead of everyday to keep getting a general average.
  • I'm a vegan and I'm aiming for 100 grams of protein a day. This is less that the recommended 30%, but I eat a lot of veggies, which have a bunch of amino acids, so it can even out in my system. If you juice, green juices can help add amino acids - not a full chain which is "protein," but it will help with your energy and…
  • Yeah, I'm trying to ignore it. I haven't been spiking at all - I don't go above 2200. But there were days I was under. I'm off to the grocery store to get some things to have around so it doesn't happen again this weekend! Also - I don't eat much sodium. Mostly I only eat what I cook, no packaged foods. And I specifically…
  • It could be all the quorn. I have recently read some creepy things about the stuff, and some people (scientists) even say the protein is not exactly accessible for your body. You might try using some seitan-based stuff. Not sure if you're in the states, but we have "field roast" which is awesome. It's not frozen - it's…
  • It would be great to be able to search the forums, since if you search here, you are searching ALL MFP stuff. So I'd love that. Yes to a starter kit. In general, it would be nice to have forums like the MFP ones - exercise, food, whatever - but knowing there was an EM2WL option. That way when talking about, say, CLX, I…
  • The nice thing about a BMF is that you can get an average. I'd have to gauge this calculator based on every day (and it's a guess) and then average. I tried to do it and it came out WAY high for me. Said my BMR was 1800 (it's more like 1550), burn was 3,000+. And I didn't even say ANY vigorous activity. Scooby seems petty…
  • I'm thinking about doing stronglifts after Chalean Extreme - halfway through with CLX. If you do it after bodypump you can probably skip or shorten the warm-up sets for stronglifts since your muscles are already primed. You spend a lot of time int he gym as it is!
  • They're good for you, sure, but they're also fun. They can hold something like 20 times their volume in water. Soak them in water and they form a gel. Google chia pudding for recipes. You can blend any chia pudding recipe if you don't like the tapioca aspect. That also makes it set up fast. This is my go-to breakfast of…
  • I wonder if it your workouts. A lot of the people having success here are heavy weightlifting. And I know you said you don't have time for that. Just a guess. It's my TOM so I'm feeling heavy and awful. No advice from me today. :-)
  • I made it for today without a banana, then added a drizzle of maple syrup in the morning... mmmmm You can make it in a pint mason jar which makes it easy for grab-and-go in the morning.
  • I really like being in a yoga CLASS. You probably have a few studios somewhat near by - I live in LA, and we're lousy with them, but every time I travel, I have no problem finding others. Often you can find a class through a community college or at a church as well. Studios will usually do a starter deal for classes -…
  • I sent you over a question with my friend request, but then I saw your answer on one of these boards. So you do have a bmf? I just got mine and have only been wearing it for a day. But I was just trying to see that your TDEE must be pretty accurate then? My other question is - How do you feel? I'm not asking because I…
  • Of course you can ask more :-) You will need more weights, but if you've been doing TA, then you can probably buy what I did: a set of adjustable weights from Target that go up to 12.5 lbs. The first month is two exercises at once. For example, you lunge, then do a fly, bring fly down, come out of the lunge. So even if you…
  • I just bought my adjustable weights from target a week and a half ago... and now they are on sale? Typical... I did a lot of investigating before buying the weights I did. I have the adjustable up to 12.5 set from target (Pro-Form), and a set of up to 25. As soon as I no longer need the lighter set, I'll sell them. But…
  • I'm a vegan and I aim for 100 grams of protein a day, even though this is a bit lest than 30%. I hit it, or somewhere in the 90's most days, but it takes work. I try to check protein after every meal. Otherwise it'll be the end of the day and it'll be too late. Protein powder helps a bunch. I do maybe one a day or so. Just…
  • It's nerves? That's tricky. I thought we were mostly talking about muscle spasms, etc. I don't know much about pinched nerves and such. I assume you've been to a chiropractor? I was in a little accident and the insurance covered it. Can't say it did much for me, but I really didn't get much impact. My mother got a bunch of…
  • I tried it. I got through a week and a half, just to the 2nd workout. BORED TO TEARS. I hated doing the workout and felt just blah the whole time. I like how I get to lift heavier and heavier on CLX, whereas Tracy doesn't want you to lift more than 3 lbs EVER. It might work for some, but I'm only gonna get results from a…
  • Thanks! That is really helpful. I just didn't want to put my faith (plus or minus 10%) in a device that may or may not work. But great. I have trouble trusting the online calculators. So hopefully I can get some steady numbers from this and see what I'm really burning.
  • Can you explain how it is possible that it could track a TDEE and not a burn during a workout? Wouldn't that be involved in the tdee? I'm planning on picking one up from a craigslist guy tomorrow. But if it doesn't really tell you what you burn in the day, what's the point?
  • And I know you took measurements, but you're holding onto water to repair those muscles. So it'll take a bit for that to even out.
  • If you only started two weeks ago, you are probably retaining water in a good, muscle-building way. You are working muscles that aren't used to being worked, and they need water to rebuild. I won't go into the science, because it isn't super clear to me. But there's a post on here about not looking at the scale. This is…
  • Lifting heavy means lifting heavy for YOU. And it is good to build up a base first. I did a few weeks of light before I started adding. It helped me learn form and not stress my back right away. You'll know when it's time to add weight because it'll feel too easy.
  • I'm only now just starting to see some slooooow results. And it's been maybe 6 or 7 weeks.
