  • I wouldn't recommend doing the exercise before you figure out what it is - too many exercises you can hurt yourself accidentally if you don't use the correct form (particularly strength exercises). I'd recommend Googling the exercise (exercise <body part> <type of activity>) and find an exercise site that shows the…
  • ^^^^ It really is about the calories, but it is hard to stay under the calorie count if you are eating "bad" carbs (i.e. junk food, etc). I have reduced my carb limits from what MFP recommends, but only a little - and I don't stress too much if I go over, as long as I know I am eating balanced. I was on a low carb diet,…
  • Correction to my post. Pound is also mass - lb-force is the weight/force measurement (1lb = 1lb-force at 1G). Double checked, and gram is mass - not weight. Metric measure for weight/force is Newtons. Not much difference between weight and mass for us poor earthlings stuck on the surface though :)
  • Welcome, and hello. I'm not an Aussie myself, but I am married to one. We're still living here in the US, but thinking about moving to Australia.
  • The problem with converting grams to ounces/cups is they are apples and oranges. Grams is mass, ounces/lbs is weight, ounces/cups is volume. The denser the food, the more grams it will take to fill a cup. Having said that, the numbers that have been listed before are still useful as rules of thumb. If you can't…
  • It varies a lot for me. This week, I weighed myself twice since I had a health screening today. Last time I weighed myself before this week was 3 weeks ago. As other people have said, it really varies by person. Daily (if you are consistent about when you weigh - first thing in the morning or last thing at night would seem…
  • You can definitely sit around and only eat the 1320 calories, and you will lose the weight, but you would be missing out on a lot of the benefits from the exercise. Laura mentioned one of the big advantages: higher metabolism, because muscle burns more calories just sitting there than fat does. Exercise also helps you lose…
  • You can check through some of the stickied/recommended posts as there are better, more in-depth explanations, but I'll try to give a quick explanation. In your case, MFP is NOT telling you to eat 1320 calories per day to lose the 1.5 pounds per week. What it is telling you is to have a net total of 1320 calories per day to…
