it works great in a bread machine on "dough" setting, or like any other pizza dough recipe- it has to rise for about 1.5 hours after kneading, and then it's perfect! :)

My pizza had about 1.7 oz of cheese on it, and my husband's had 4 oz. You can usually get goat cheese at a regular store, but the quality really varies. i only use a local goat cheese, because the goats are happy and the cheese is DELICIOUS. don't give up if you don't like the first goat cheese you try! the stuff at trader…

Yes! haha... "slender", pardon me. I am definitely the family cook, and it's so hard getting him the calories he needs per day (3800) and staying within my own limit (1200)... but we're managing. somewhat. :)

What a gorgeous picture!! I LOVE wild mushies!!! I especially love Maitaki aka Hen of the Woods. It's like a grey rosepetal version of the Chicken of the woods :) So so so delicious. I think it might be my favorite food.

Well, if we all did that... I think things would be ok. :)

yeah, mono-cropping sucks, and it's totally bad for the environment. So is shipping soybeans halfway across the world. I try to eat as locally and seasonally as possible, from small, sustainable, organic farms, etc. but... like i said. It isn't about being perfect. It's about making decisions that I personally feel are the…

Being a vegan/vegetarian doesn't mean that I'm free of hypocrisy, or don't recognize the inherent contradictions posed by simply LIVING on this planet. It means that I'm making a conscious choice to do LESS damage. It isn't about being perfect and judgmental, it's about being mindful and compassionate. I don't understand…

oh NO!!! It's the "poor defenseless broccoli" argument! I wondered how long it'd take to show up! Six pages... not bad...

I'm a veggie (see ALL my above posts, haha) but nevertheless I LOVED 'The Omnivore's Dilemma'. Michael Pollan is a genius. I wish everyone in America was assigned that book in high school. So well written, so witty and articulate and informative...

I definitely don't' eat salad every meal! You know, lots of veggies on mfp have open diaries (like me)-- and our diets are so varied! You should look around. We eat EVERYTHING. except meat. haha

Re: leather-- I think in a lot of cases, synthetic material is more detrimental to the environment than leather material. But I never forget that it's from a creature, one that's dead-- leather (from ethical companies, anyway) isn't a primary industry, it's secondary. The leather industry doesn't cause mass environmental…

IF I ate meat, it would be under these conditions... but with the added component of it being NECESSARY to my survival. Otherwise, i don't like it, & i feel better without it. And the animal is still killed- even if it's humane, it's still taking a life for a life. I really hope this doesn't start the "what about the poor…

uh... there are a LOT of plant-based and synthetic fabrics besides cotton. In fact, i bet most of your clothes are vegan. Just sayin'.

i was vegan but i never really thought that humans "shouldn't" eat meat- i think if civilization as we knew it collapsed, i'd probably eat fish and deer (native to the area of the world that i live in)... but if it isn't necessary, i'm certainly not going to force myself to do it. it just sounds... like a last-ditch…

p.s. i was vegan through both of my pregnancies & nursing, felt AMAZING the whole time, and had two gorgeous fat babies. Just to brag a little :)

I was raised vegetarian-ish, but tried meats throughout my childhood. As an adult, i'm vegetarian because i think it's healthier overall for me, i think that factory farming is profoundly inhumane, and i think that raising meat in quantity is just too ecologically devastating for me to feel justified in putting my money…

still looking!! thanks to everyone who's responded to the op! i LOVE collecting veggie contacts!

does anyone want to share their favorite vegetarian burger recipe? I know lots of verrry delicious burger recipes, but they're all so so so high calorie. I am also going to share a mung bean waffle recipe soon... it's absolutely amazing.

I'm sure you'll get much lengthier responses, but here are the first three things that come to mind: one, are you weighing yourself at the same time each day (preferably first thing in the morning)? because you can vary a lot during the day. and second, are you exercising? Because it is true that muscle weighs more than…

I love planning my day in advance, too! usually I plan breakfast and lunch the night before, enter it all, and then know how many calories I cn count on when I get home for dinner :)
-
HAH, i don't think this was meant to be a joke, but it made me snort out loud. But it IS a clever idea. dessert plate v dinner plate = big difference
-
I've got 1/3 a sandwich that I already "counted" on a plate next to the computer that's been there for about an hour... i keep thinking, guuh i have to finish this... but... maybe i wont. :)

Thanks :) the big version shows the baby literally drooling on his momma's bewb. I'm a BIG fan of breastfeeding :) and... guuh.. i tried not to, but the biology teacher in me HAS to tell you... it's not a monkey, it's a great ape: an orangutan :D please forgive me.

and gimme lean or similar product is available at most health food stores, and safeway, top foods, and fred meyer all seem to carry them as well (though i prefer to shop locally when possible). :)

ok i've posted this in like two other forums but it is SO GOOD I've eaten it like eight times in three weeks. also i don't want to lose this thread and this is the only recipe coming to mind right now... I've been getting pints of sungold tomatoes, fresh fennel bulb, and green beans with my CSA, so I flash fry/steam one…

Yes of course! I also meant to say, I have class from 8-4 so that's basically... two meals plus snacks, right? SO!!! I bought this:…
