  • Ah, yes, I forgot about the see-thru-your-pee thing. :) I don't watch Oprah, but happened to see that particular show. I pay attention to that. Again, I can only speak for coffee, but I am an avid coffee drinker. I drink like 8 cups per day and I can say for sure that my pee ain't clear unless I top that up with another 8…

  • It sounds... healthier! ;-)
  • I know coffee doesn't. It increases your urination so it actually depletes you of water. I suspect tea is the same.

  • I will continue my love/hate relationship with shoveling the snow. Strength training and stair climbing. I'm in the process of sprucing up the basement to be a pleasant area for working out. Hopefully I'll spend a lot of time there.
  • Yeah, this isn't my real name either. :)
  • I doubt we could share logs if we wanted to. I wouldn't want you knowing how many days I missed my mark, now would I? =) There are lots of great posts here with ideas and recipies and links to other helpful sites. I've only been at it a couple of weeks myself and I've found this site to be a great help and inspiration. So,…
  • This is the very reason I shifted from another site to here because it didn't account for extra calories burned thru exercise. Skinnier_Me has it right on the money. Consider: Even the sites that don't account for calories burned figure out your 'natural calorie burn' based on how active you during the day.
  • Welcome and good luck!
  • That's an awesome amount of exercise. One thing I see pointed out in places is that building muscle will add it's own weight even as you lose the fat. Muscle is denser than fat, though, so the inches will still be dropping. I will let someone more expert comment on eating your extra calories, but in my opinion, you should…
  • Thanks, CM. I just picked up a digital scale a couple of days ago. All the time I thought I I was hitting the mark on my goals I think I was blowing right by them. I figure going back now to correct them will just be depressing. :)
  • Cheating once in a while could even be a good thing. Another poster was describing his thoughts here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1057-pulling-the-trigger I 'shock' my system every weekend with beer calories. :)
  • If anyone does not have a kitchen scale, I would recommend it. I found it to be a real eye-opener compared to my best guesses and estimates. 100 grams is 100 grams is 100 grams.
  • I think the day I turned 30, something body mechanism clicked and for the past 14 years I have watched it all accumulate around my midsection. I seem to have followed the typical male weight increase until now I am the obligatory 30lbs overweight. I have turned to a healthier diet over the years, so what I'm eating is not…
  • I think 'playing guitar' is listed under cardio somewhere, so I assume playing a piano must burn something, too. :)
  • Generally you should be able to find something pretty close. I've only been at this a couple of weeks and started on another site until I found this one. (I prefer MFP because it incorporates calories burned into my daily intake.) As a comparison, I did find I had to adjust my search terms a bit compared to the other site.…
  • Ah ha! I found it - sort of. You enter the words "weight training" under Cardio. It seems to be the only thing so far that calculates calories. Interestingly, 10 minutes of carrying boxes is almost equal to 30 minutes of "weight training". I would say this area needs some beefing up on this otherwise great site.
  • This seems like a major oversight. When entered under either "Strength" or "Cardio" it does not calculate any calories and does not show up on the food page as calories burned. If you enter "push" in the Cardio field, you get results that include "pushing a stroller", which gives x calories burned per y minutes. "push up"…
