you can add me, I also have been on MFP for a while but only started using the community support a month or so and it does make a difference especially when you do not have a workout buddy.

My short term goals are simple: do at least one house chore a day, do not buy what I do not need, feed my body wholesome foods only when I am hungry, engage in a conversation with my teenage son on whatever topic he wants to talk about, do not worry about what I cannot control, remember that I only exist in the present.…

Start by walking. Also you can do a little bit of strengthening exercises like lunges, squats, etc that allows you do have stronger legs and it makes it way easier to run.

I say enjoy your cake and eat it too! No matter what you do you will have people that criticize you. The deal is that you have no power over what people think, say or do and once you are aware of that you just start not caring about what people think, say, or do because it is sterile.

Thanks for the references. Great idea to have it all in one stop.

Think of exercise as something you get to do not something you have to do. For instance, my son has MD and he cannot run, cannot jump, cannot lift weight, cannot hike, cannot ride a bike, etc....even if he wanted to. So my way of seeing things is: I get the privilege to be able to use my legs and exercise. It is about your…

I am 5'1" and 126 lbs. My goal is between 105 and 108 lbs. I want to achieve that without depriving myself so I will have no difficulties maintaining that weight. I concentrate on healthy food (no wheat, no refined sugar, no processed food) and exercise that I know I will still love doing in 10 years. I hike, trail run and…

you can add me. I love to run...I just need to get better at it :-)

it is good to build up strength in your legs with lunges and squats. It will improve your speed and not hurt as much after a run :-)

I see you like to hike. I love to hike, I wanted something more challenging than hiking so I started to trail run which did not feel like running at all...now I love it. I warm up with a high elevation hike then I trail run on. As soon as you take the running outside it becomes more fun and enjoyable.

you have to do what feels right. You do not want to injure yourself. I started at 3.5 for the walk and 5 for the run. After 4 weeks I had to increase the run to 5.5 mph. Now I run mostly at 5.5 mph and speed up for 5 minutes at 6 mph. At the end of my workout I do 2 minutes at 6.5 mph. Start slow and see how it feels, you…

C25K is great but more importantly pair it with strength training for your legs. If your legs are strong you will be more performant, recover faster and ultimately enjoy running as a daily activity. Do not pay attention to others in the gym or outside. Whether they have an opinion about you or not it is not like it is in…
