  • This. Start small & build up time/intensity. You will start to find that exercise makes you feel better/have more energy. But it does take a bit for your body to adjust. You kind of have to just grit your teeth & force through the first few workouts/weeks.
  • Exactly! Good thinking
  • AWESOME! I love that you're wearing the same clothes in all your progress pics. REALLY shows how your body has changed. Congratulations!
  • No pain, no problem. Popping is usually caused by ligaments or tendons shifting around (or so my chiropractor tells me). Maybe film yourself or have someone watch you to make sure you have correct form just to double check? Otherwise, you're probably fine.
  • Honestly, your arm just looks like a normal arm. When they're not flexed, most arms hang down. You could start lifting weights if you want a more firm look. And sacrificing a virgin goat couldn't hurt anything, right?
  • Calorie deficit will determine if weight comes off. The waist/belly is generally the last place to lose fat on most people, so stay patient. 200-400 cal deficit should be fine for slow, sustained loss. If you're not losing, think abt increasing it by 100 cals & see if it makes a difference. Good luck!
  • Exactly this.
  • RICE for injuries: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Depending on the severity (or lack thereof) you might not need to do all of them. Definitely rest & ice (within 48hrs of injury). How are your shoes? Are they old? Are they made for running? If you're serious about running, I would suggest going to a running specialty…
  • Suck your belly in & tuck your pelvis under slightly. Imagine that you're trying to engage a rubber band between your lower ribs & pelvis bones. But make sure you're still breathing! It's hard to hold your pelvis for an entire workout class, especially if your core isn't very strong. Just engage it whenever you think about…

  • As a beginner lifter, I've loved Strong Curves. the program is for women who want to grow a more curvaceous, lovely booty. I mean, who doesn't want that? I would recommend getting the book (especially if you're a reader) if you're new to weight lifting. He explains a lot of how things work & why he's written the program…
  • This. Plus, if you want to get more flexible, stretching a little after the workout when you're nice & warm is the perfect time to get it in. It really only takes 10-15 minutes.

  • Awesome! That is some amazing work you've put in. Congratulations!
  • I naturally have a bigger butt and thighs in relation to my waist, even when I'm not in great shape. When I'm in shape, the difference between the two just gets bigger. When I buy jeans I always get some that have a little spandex, so they have more "give." (I like my jeans tight) I also buy jeans labeled as "curvy." I…

  • Still check your form next time you do the movement. It may have cleared up quickly this time, but if you're using incorrect form every workout, you will eventually develop more extensive issues.
  • I've struggled with depression for years. For me, depression & exercise are completely linked. When I feel depressed, I don't want to exercise, which makes everything feel crappier physically, which makes me feel more depressed... vicious cycle. But it also works the other way! The more I move, the better I feel…
  • LOL. No laughing or enjoying yourself here! This weight loss is serious business and ain't nobody got time for fun! ;) I should probably have a few of those milkshakes myself...
  • Check out Strong Curves by Brett C, as suggested by the first 2 posts. Glute bridges and hip thrusts will work your glutes the most. Squats are good too, but they primarily work your thighs, with glutes being a secondary muscle group worked. They are important, but not a be-all, end-all butt grower (as MANY people will…
  • I don't enter any of my workouts for calorie burns. But I don't do much cardio aside from the occasional weekend hike. I know when I started lifting I was STARVING and EXHAUSTED for three weeks straight. I upped my protien and calories for a bit. Protien to 100g & I think I added 100-200 Cal. After those first weeks it get…
  • Are you getting enough sleep? How is your stress management? Are you earing enough calories and/or protien? Sleep and stress play a bigger role than most people realize.
  • Calisthenics are just body weight exercises. I would suggest doing some searches for your specific questions. Search the message boards or Google. Or list some of your questions in a new post. People can't help if they don't know your questions.
  • Plan a meal or small snack for right after. Smoothies are the best because they're healthy but filling. Better to plan something healthy than to end up binging on crap. Just my philosophy.
  • I'm falling in love with lifting. Got to week 8 of Strong Curves Beginner program & can already tell a difference. My butt has completely changed shape. In a wonderful way. And most of the lower body stuff has been body weight so far! Having to take a break because we're moving from So Cal to Maryland, but I'm SO excited…
  • Sounds like you had a bad chiro. Sometimes there will be tenderness or tightness after an adjustment (especially if your spine has been out of wack your entire life) but never debilitating pain. You should have told the chiro about that after the first adjustment. Numbness probably indicates a pinched nerve. Get…
  • Abs are made in the kitchen. They can be strong, but as long as there's a layer of fat over the top, you'll never see it. CICO & watch sugar/processed food.
  • No, it's not normal. I agree with previous posters. Food can be a contributer. Eating too soon before or eating the "wrong" thing (what is considered wrong depends on the person. People handle different foods in different ways) too soon. Or not eating enough. Experiment with different things have see if any of it helps.
  • Just to be clear, I am not advocating people get off their depression meds and take probiotics instead. *rolls eyes* As I said in my earlier post, your health (both mental and physical) is not solved or destroyed by one single action, supplement, drug or anything else. Probiotics are not going to be the single thing that…
