redmanis - Thanks for the book suggestion! I will look for it! I have only been at this motherhood thing for a short time (my first and only child is 8 1/2 months old), and I have found a number of things challenging. 1) Fatigue... I was always a great sleeper - I'd fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, and would…

I think your HRM is the way to go! MFP can only estimate...it doesn't know how hard you were actually pushing, but your HRM does! For those of us without an HRM, MFP gives us something to go by - it is better than nothing. Sounds like a great workout you had there!!

Welcome to the group!! It is interesting that you ask this...it fits really well with an earlier task we had - to find an "MFP partner" who would commit to checking up on you, commenting on all of your status updates, etc. It is so important to feel as if you have that support! I hope you will find this group a source of…

imolly83 - Welcome to the group!! I am not the most confident cook (my hubby is way better...) but as the one at home, the task has fallen to me. I have found that my slow cooker has been a saviour!! Every sunday night, after the baby goes to bed, I prep a meal for the slow cooker (chop veggies, pre-saute anything that…

I am a daily "weigher"...I know this is contrary to what most people do, but it works for me. I actually wrote a blog about it recently - feel free to check it out if you want to know more about why I have chosen this route! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/carolina_r As for the timing thing, who knows? It seems that, no…

Welcome to our newest members! Great to have you with us! Don't worry - it is not necessary to befriend everyone in the group - the idea is to meet on the group forum without adding tons of friends (unless you want to!!!!!) That is the great thing about MFP - you can make it want you want it to be. Hope you find this group…
-
tpt42087 - I say stick to your first weigh in (since the challenge was set up for us to weigh ourselves in the morning, when you wake up and before you eat breakfast). Don't worry too much about the number - You are doing great!! BTW - I took a peek at the spreadsheet...though a number of groups have yet to add all their…

SmangeDiggs - I hope this new "group" feature on MFP will make it easier for the group to stay connected!! Glad to have you back! I am excited to see a number of new members joining us - a special welcome to all of you! If you are new to the group, feel free to introduce yourself (either on this thread, or you can follow…

Great to have you in the group, mrsyam!!!

Alright, ladies - I have created a group, and you should all have received an invitation to it! We can continue this week's topic here on this thread, but next week's topic will be posted on the group forum.

I am already on it!!! I started making the group, but then got interrupted by the baby...but it should happen by this weekend :) Thanks for the reminder!

The great thing about this site is that you can adapt it to your needs. You can start with "lightly active" - but if you feel you are not seeing any results after a few weeks, then you can change it! As for exercise goals, as far as I can tell, this does not make any difference in the number of calories you are assigned,…

I've stayed under my calories, but exercise has been a tough one. My 8 month old son is cutting his fourth tooth, and he has been VERY cranky...which means he wakes me up numerous times in the night. When I'm so tired, and I'm dealing with a fussy baby all day long, I find it really hard to stay motivated and stick with my…

Mccallsmommy and Robincsmall - Thank you for sharing this! I believe my husband would qualify as a ginger (pale skin, freckles, red beard, can't go out without sunscreen...though the hair on his head has gone more brown with age...does this count?). One of my best friends is also a ginger...I have seen the way they both…

Wow! So many ways you eat it! You could write a cook book on cottage cheese :) I will definitely try some!
-
Yes - but I've found some reduced sodium versions :)

Here is the next thread...sorry for the delay! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/388114-post-partum-pack-november-8

Sorry ladies - things have been a bit hectic - new thread is coming soon!!!!
-
No apologies necessary! This is a "no commitment required" kind of group - we are all busy moms, remember? So we totally get it!!
-
I totally understand! Every time I think I've figured out my little guy's schedule...he changes on me! Makes it hard to stick to my workouts. I haven't had a lot of success the past few days - here is hoping I can do better this week!

This is what I do, and it is working so far. I can't cut out the sweets completely, but I have found that if I have some early in the day, I end up craving it again later. However, if I hold off until the end of the day, and make good choices so that I have the calories available, I treat myself to some chocolate or ice…

So relieved...I DID see the loss reflected in today's weigh-in! Phew! But, now for another week of stress...I'm still going to do my daily weigh-ins, and monitor the "situation" to make sure that Friday's weigh-in continues the trend. Wish me luck for tomorrow - afternoon at the spa and b-day party afterwards - I will be…

I understand how you feel! I am a daily "weigher" as well - but I have continued to do so. I like to judge my success by the periodic dips - I HAVE dipped below 156 this week. In my regular routine, I would have logged it and felt good about it, and kept at it until the next "dip". Because we have to record tomorrow, I…

Welcome! You've come to the right place! I have found taking things slow and not putting too much pressure on myself has worked. Small changes in lifestyle have resulted in weight loss, and my milk production has been unaffected. You can add BF in your food diary - just type in breastfeeding, and you will get a bunch of…

You are right on time, shedoos - it is today!

It is my birthday tomorrow...35!!! I will work really hard to keep activity up and eating under control...I really hope to see at least one lb gone on friday - don't want to let you gals down!

I am a mom too, and my husband never has to watch what he eats. I also have a big time sweet tooth, and not a very athletic disposition...Here is what has worked for me: - I started using the site to JUST LOG - I made no changes to what I ate, exercise, etc. I just let myself see what I was doing each day. - Then I took…

Agreed. Though you probably don't absorb everything in the vitamin supplement, and I'm not sure what levels are too high, too much of some vitamins and minerals can be toxic and cause illness! My father-in-law ended up in the hospital...they couldn't figure out why he was so nauseous, until a clever nurse figured it out -…

INSPIRING! Congrats on your success!

robincsmall - That cheesecake sounds too good to be true! I love cheesecake... goodntentions - Good luck with your running program - looking forward to hearing how it goes! bluestarlight19 - There is nothing like feeling hungry to ruin any good intentions. I hope your new snack routine works. I find that sometimes I get…
