  • Thanks spunkychelsea! Good to hear...I will check out that group :)
  • Welcome!! My main advice - log in every day! Log your food, take things slow, try to change your lifestyle one bit at a time, and don't beat yourself up when you find yourself wandering off the path. Just keep logging and stick with it!
  • Great idea!!!!
  • I think everyone's experience is slightly different - but you will likely find that if you keep track of your food and increase your activity, you should see some success. I started MFP just as my little guy was starting solids. I used the food diary to add some extra calories (300) to my diet, and found that I was able to…
  • Welcome and good luck!!! You've got quite the little brood :) So great to see that your husband is supportive - you can do it!
  • Good for you!!! Getting out there with two little ones must be tough! I have a hard enough time exercising with one :) Great NSV, too!
  • Welcome, ladies!!!
  • RAS10710 - Welcome to the group!!! I think many of the moms on here can relate to your story. The changes that happen with our bodies due to pregnancy can be tough to deal with, but this site CAN help! My son was around 6 months old when I started MFP. He just turned 10 months, and I'm happy to say that I am now below…
  • Well, ladies...I can honestly say it was more "indulge" than "control" for me this time around...Oh well, I logged it (a little scary to be in the red by over 1000 cals...YIKES!) and I will be back to it on Monday. To all those celebrating - Hope you all had a great holiday!!!
  • Watch out!!! My guy is crawling now, and boy is it a lifestyle changer!!!!!
  • I have tried several approaches, and the "controlled indulgence" seems to work best for me. Let me explain: - A few weeks ago, I let myself indulge without worry (my mom cooked a Portuguese holiday feast...) and it totally derailed me for TWO WEEKS!!! It took a lot of effort to get back on track. - For thanksgiving, I used…
  • I found it hard at first, but now I do manage the 8 cups. Here's how I did it: - I define a "cup" as around a cup measurement wise, not a huge glass! - I avoid all drinks except water (and the occasional tea). I prefer to eat my calories :) - I have made it a routine - 2 cups with each meal, one with each snack, two after…
  • Interesting question :) No - you won't be kicked out...even WHEN your body becomes BETTER than pre-partum, you can still be with us!
  • Wow...I can really relate with all of these struggles!! It is nice to know that others have the same challenges.
  • THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!!!! Thanks for sharing...it just made my day!
  • For me, I had to work in my cravings into each day. Just a bit, at the end of the day, and only if I had calorie space. I also stock the kitchen with lots of healthy, easy to grab snacks. If it is easy, it is more likely you'll go for it. I agree with your approach - take it easy for the first little bit and give yourself…
  • Yes, I've been slacking too...my mom came up, and we were planning a huge holiday feast for friends...and all my resolve went out the window! NEED to get back on track!
  • I was given the same 1200 calorie recommendation...but also felt it was too low. I manually increased it to 1400, then also added breastfeeding into my food diary to increase it even more. I have been losing 1 to 1.5 pounds per week, and have now reached pre-pregnancy weight. Try it - you can change the settings, and if…
  • Feydruss - you are in such a tough spot right now, being essentially "grounded" from exercise...but still having twins to take care of! Is there anything that we could do to help you stay on track? For me, the "no junk" weekdays thing a few of us are doing is working quite well, as is pre-logging so that I feel like I have…
  • Commitment... That is always my problem. I start out all excited to "CHANGE MY LIFE" - I buy the great cookbook...or the amazing DVD I heard about...or the great deal on the gym membership...or the yoga mat and blocks...or the weight watchers subscription...or the fitness tracking software...and on and on it goes... ...but…
  • Second day of level 2...Much better today! I felt more focused and aware of the movements...and I definitely felt like it was tougher than level 1. I had the same slipping issue...I had to move out onto the hardwood for things like skaters and the plank cardio moves. Much better there!
  • I did level 2 today as well...NOT my favourite... I found it harder to get into, tougher to feel like I was using good form, and hence didn't feel as if it was as good of a workout. Hoping that more familiarity with it will improve my experience with it!
  • Great job conquering your sugar cravings!!! It has been my struggle as well :)
  • I was so busy, I didn't even get a chance to look for it :) But - I did do the workout as well. I'm ready to start level 2 today...Good luck everyone!
  • Good for you!!! So hard to workout when all you want to do is sleep...well done! I just finished. Can't believe we are almost onto level two!!! I have a weigh in tomorrow for another challenge...here's hoping for a loss!!!!
  • I don't - I'm finding I can only squeeze it in after baby is in bed, and then I just want to spend a little time on MFP checking in with friends, drink some water, and go to bed! However - I think it is a good idea! Have you thought about reversing the order and doing your cardio first? I've noticed that the workout goes…
  • Welcome! You've come to the right place!! MFP has made a lot of difference for me. Some tips that have helped me stick with it: - add some friends and keep your diary open to them - makes you think twice about eating too much of that "whatever you crave" - take it slow...get used to logging your food, then tackle one bad…
  • Agreed! I think it is healthy to take a day off...allow your muscles to recover and repair. Jillian stresses this in her Ripped in 30 (a more recent DVD)...so GO FOR IT! Good that you are modifying the moves that cause pain. I was having knee issues, and did the same...and now my knees are feeling better and I'm back to…
  • Just took some measurements...and it is definitely working!!! I can FEEL it too...there just seems like less there... I hope to follow your lead, Orvett, and be able to post pics one day!
  • Definitely Anita!!! However, I am starting to do some "Natalie-esque" moves...i.e. my squats are getting deeper, butt kicks are Natalie style...but most things are Anita all the way! It isn't even a choice - I simply don't have the fitness level or strength to do what Natalie does!
