feydruss - Sorry to hear about your back...is it a recurring injury from the past? As for the Halloween candy - yes, it is everywhere, and very tempting. I find that, as long as I am logging faithfully (and as long as I leave it to the end of the day) I CAN have just a few mini chocolates. I see it as my reward for doing…

CourtneyLeigh83 - Welcome to the pack! Wow - I really enjoyed reading your post! Your exercise regimen looks fantastic - sounds like you do it not just for the weight loss / health benefits, but because you genuinely enjoy it! How can you go wrong? I love how you have used your daughter's karate classes to commit yourself…

feydruss - Glad to hear that your back is feeling better! Jaytee32 - Sounds like you've got a dedicated plan to keep exercising even with full-time work. What a challenge!! (I am not looking forward to it...) P.S. I believe both you ladies are from Alberta...Lovely province! My sister lives there :)

I use it as a rice substitute. Great thrown into soups / stews (though beware...it soaks up a lot of water!!). I also use it as the base for any dish you'd eat on rice (i.e. indian food). The limits are just your imagination!!

I have definitely been there!! Guess it is a good thing they are so darned cute...

Guess it depends on the type of exercise. I track 30DS as "circuit training - general" since it is a combo of cardio and strength training with weights. Perhaps if you list some titles, people who use those DVDs could say what they do? Hope you find your answer!

Has your baby ever changed his/her pattern and totally thrown off your plans? Of course they have!!! Mine decided that he was going to wake up (and STAY AWAKE...) about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs before usual...there goes my plan of waking up early and working out... And when I was feeding him this morning, he bit me...OUCH!!

I am not a very fit person, so I knew I had to start small if it was going to stick. I started off just trying to walk for 20 minutes 3 x a week. Once that felt too easy, I progressed to every day...Now I am doing the 30DS video, and it is going well! Too often in the past, I have gone too aggressive with the exercise to…

stritte14 - Welcome to the group! Wow - I am impressed at the amount of exercise (particularly classes outside the home!!) that you are able to do despite your situation...You should be very proud of yourself!!! As for all the "mom activity" stuff - I also don't log it, but I put my lifestyle down as "lightly active" to…
-
CindyC72 - I really relate to what you wrote!! I too get bored with just walking or using my at-home stationary bike. My little guy is 7 1/2 months, so he doesn't even point out cars...I haven't been able to "walk for walking's sake" - the only thing that has worked for me is to make it an errand. I go grocery shopping…

Sugar is my craving as well. You will have to decide what works best for you - I know some that just stay away from it, and as long as they do that they lose the craving. For me, I have found that as long as I am tracking honestly, and treat myself with a little bit each day (as stated in the entry above) then it works. I…

Welcome and congrats on your new baby!!! I think you will find this site very useful. I started about a month and a half ago, when the pregnancy weight just wasn't going away (despite nursing). Since using the site, I've dropped 9 lbs, all with slow, gradual changes to eating / activity. Obviously, I am a mom too (my…

I am part of a group called "The Post-Partum Pack". It is (and always will be) OPEN!!! The original target audience of the group was moms with kids under 3, but all moms are welcome. There is a new task / poll each week, and it is basically a way to connect with other moms. I am on mat leave, but many of our moms are…

MrsNoir - Welcome to the group! I think, based on your use of the word, that a pram is a stroller? This is the word for it in North America, and I think there is an entry for this :) Thanks for sharing! (p.s. I didn't know what SAHM was either at first...:) McCallsmommy - Looking forward to hearing how it goes! arlygyrl -…

It is best to talk to your doctor (I am no expert) - but I do think taking it easy is a good thing, especially so early. You can do two things to make sure that you are getting enough cals: - add "breastfeeding" into your food diary - you can find an option that will minus 500 cals from what you've taken in, so it adjusts…
-
pmur - Yes, I do think there is an entry that gives credit for the stroller! If not (or if you don't agree with what it says), you could get a heart rate monitor and get a more tailored measure of your calories burned. I don't have one myself, but I've seen a number of MFP members discussing using them, and they love it!…

Well said! I definitely try to follow this statement.
-
McCallsmommy - First of all, can I just say that I love your profile pic! What a great photo:) I am NOT a morning person, and I am still getting up every few hours to nurse (my 7 1/2 month old regressed once his teeth broke through...). I tried doing my workout during his nap, but he doesn't usually sleep for long. For the…

Tracking calories can be a good way to lose weight, but it is not a complete solution. Take a look at the kinds of things you are eating, perhaps there are some gradual changes you can make that will allow you to see results? Also - are you taking measurements? Sometimes these tell you more than the scale. Keep tracking…
-
feydruss - Thanks for the applause :) As Robin will tell you, I am a busy body high school teacher who is currently on mat. leave. I guess this is my way of channeling some of that energy in a way that will keep me (and hopefully all of you!) motivated to lose! Your home gym sounds fantastic!!! Yes, I know all about…

No apology necessary!!! Here is the link to the next thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/369658-post-partum-pack-october-17 See you there! carolina

I buy it pre-ground, and have some in my yoghurt...Yum!
-
McCallsmommy - Welcome! If you'd like to join, just add the tagline: “The POST-PARTUM PACK – It took us 9 months to pack on the pounds…Watch us take them off!” to your signature and you are in :) Don't feel bad about not being at pre-preg weight yet...I had my little guy in March and I'm not there either! Although I have…

Welcome to the group, Sarah! It must be a huge challenge with such a full household...I have a tough enough time with one! Good for you!!
-
elz22 - Welcome to the group! You have had tremendous success already...inspiring! jmc111 - I thought breastfeeding would help me lose a lot of weight, but it hasn't been my experience either. With a three month old, I imagine you aren't getting a ton of sleep...kudos to you for being on MFP and taking the initiative! When…
-
pmur - I too have never had a set of toned abs...Even at my thinnest, I always had a little tummy. I too am looking for ways to tone up, but I've been cautious because of the pregnancy. Your abdominal muscles do separate, and I've been told to be cautious to make sure that the gap is closing before being too hard core when…
-
MaureenJ79 and lovecola06 - It is definitely not too late to join! This is an open, informal group - we are always accepting new members :) MaureenJ79 - Thanks for the advice! I am currently breastfeeding a 7 month old. I was hoping that bfeeding would help me lose a lot of weight, but it wasn't really working out that way…

Wow! Amazing work! Makes me want to look into getting the dvd!
-
Welcome! I too have tried a number of things, but usually give up / lose my way after a short while...I've been on MFP for a month now, and I've already had success (and its the longest I've stuck with something!!!) The keys for me? Logging in EVERY DAY, tracking honestly (even if / when I mess up), and trying not to…
-
pmur - Glad to hear your little one is doing so well! I can't even imagine how emotionally trying that must have been for you and your family... I get the whole carb/sugar craving thing...and I can't blame it on breastfeeding :) Here is what I've been doing...I bought a few different small-portioned choices of sweets (mini…
