  • I'm over 65 (just barely) and I've lost 100 pounds since May 2011. If there's anything I can do let me know. The only advise I can give you is stick with it, measure your food and don't listen to those around you who are pessimistic and tell you you don't need to lose any, they love you just like you are and you won't be…
  • Well it's risky but you might try eating alot for one day. Sometimes it works for me to do about 2000 calories for one day but you will have to reign it in so it doesn't become a habit. Let me know how it goes. I gained 10 pounds over the last 6 weeks but have lost all but 4 of it but it was a struggle getting out of the…
  • Congratulations!! I also joined a year ago and at 100 pounds lost. MFP is great!
  • Sorry but I don't eat breakfast either except on very rare occasions. I chose to eat about 11 am. It's coffee for me and I've lost 100 pounds. If she's not losing it's because she's eating too much the rest of the day. But that's only my opinion.
  • Yes I try to keep mine between 1100 and 1240 (the number MFP recommended) and as you can see I've lost almost 100 pounds but I don't exercise.
  • Makes me realize just how much I was eating all those years to get to 300 pounds.
  • Yes I understand the difference between a 20 year old male who works out and a 65 year old female who doesn't but we are both human and the principle is close to the same. The biggest difference is one who wants to lose weight and one who want to lower their body mass. Eventually even my mass will lower.
  • I eat alot of vegetables minus potatoes and weigh all my meat, usually 3 ounces. I stay away from cheese except cottage cheese which I measure at 1/2 a cup but it's loaded with salt so be careful. I eat mushrooms and broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts or squash almost every day and thank goodness I don't get tired of…
  • I'm not sure what all the numbers mean but mine said for me to use 1240 calories with no exercising. I lowered it to 1100 and try to stay between that and the 1240.
  • I've always heard that muscle weighs more than fat. With all the workouts you're doing that might be the case. Maybe someone who knows more about this could comment. I realize you want to lower your body mass but you certainly don't need to lose any weight.

  • I also have been sitting at about 100 pound loss for a while but since I came back from vacation I'm ready to go again. I weighed this morning after returning yesterday and it appears I'm down 2 more pounds. I was really worried about gaining while I was gone. Everyone wanted to go to Golden Corral and other places. I even…
  • 5'7" and I started at 289. I'm at 195 now and want to lose another 25.
  • well honestly I hardly ever eat breakfast but I'm not sure that's what you meant. I think you meant more like the fact I prefer to stay away from Oriental buffets. First of all it sends my glucose levels into orbit and it's almost impossible to count the calories and we won't even mention the salt and oil. Whew!!
  • Old habits are hard to break. I'm experiencing some of the same stuff. Don't you want a cookie or some ice cream? Mmmmm. We just have to over look it and go on.
  • What a change for having only lost 17 pounds. You look great!
  • Eat more veggies and protein and you won't be hungry as much. I have become accustomed to being a little hungry though.
  • Yes that's a great idea. It won't take long before you realize that piece of chocolate cake wasn't nearly as filling as a plate of veggies would have been.
  • Years ago I went to a Dietician for a few months. The first thing she had me do was write down everything that went into my mouth; sort of like MFP does. It shocked me into cutting way back on my eating. You might try that or go on a cleansing fast for a couple of days. Fruit juice, fruit and veggies for a couple of days…
  • Although I don't agree with school kids selling stuff like candy bars because the school gets very little of it and it's big business, I do agree that it's ludicrous to think that's going to stop the over-weight problem especially in children. Most over weight children have over weight family members. It's a life style…
  • Hope you don't mind. I had to share that on facebook. It made me cry.
  • Would love to view your photos but internet can't find them.
  • I have two suggestions. Measure and weight stuff like meat. I keep a scale for the meat, usually 2 or 3 ozs. at a time and I have a half cup measuring cup for things like veggies and cottage cheese. And secondly be honest about what goes into your mouth. I see people who swear they haven't eaten a thing all day but in…
  • Arkansas now but born in Chattanooga, grew up in east Kansas. Lived in several states in the south and midwest. Last 15 years lived back in east Tennessee in the mountains till last year.
  • It's amazing how much younger and happier we all look in our after pictures. In the before we look really unhappy that our picture is being taken. I rarely let people take mine before but now I don't mind at all. I can only imagine how I'll feel after I lose another 25. You look great.
  • I try to eat between 1100 and 1200 a day and I've lost about 90 so far. It depends on what you eat too. I wouldn't eat 1200 calories of chocolate cake a day ( which would be about one good slice-LOL). I don't exercise at all unless you count walking our dog in the yard and climbing the stairs to our second floor. You may…
  • Welcome and good to have you on here. Friend me if you like.
  • Welcome and thank you for the work you do.
  • Welcome to MFP. We just moved last summer from Tellico Plains, TN.to northeast Arkansas and boy is it flat here. Lots of rice and cotton. If you don't know where Tellico Plains is, it's the west end of the Cherohaula Skyway which runs over the mountains to Robbinsville, NC. I do miss the mountains. I was born in…
  • Remember one thing. The things on the market to help you quit are usually put out by the tobacco companies and I'm not sure they really want you to quit. It's in their best interest to sell you something really expensive and then have you go back to smoking. And look into what's in cigarettes. It's not just the nicotine…
