  • Mmmmm so excited to try some of these!
  • It's frustrating trying to find an accurate count so I finally started saving things as a custom "my foods" if I eat it frequently. For instance, I have 1oz of Atlantic farm raised salmon saved as per the USDA nutritional database. Now, whenever I cook anything with salmon I just choose that and adjust the servings to…
  • Warning: I'm about to get gross with this answer. Fat is important for pooping, and it's probably wise to make sure you're getting enough to avoid potential problems later. Just like you want to get enough fiber to help things along, you also need to get enough fat. It helps with constipation via lubrication. As others…
  • Yeah I was also counting on it being roughly 2 TBSP after looking at some online conversions for table salt, flour, etc. Was just wondering if someone actually had the scoop for that brand. No biggie though, I can just estimate until I buy a new one :)
  • I recently finished and would be happy to answer any questions you might have along the way! The biggest challenge I had was forcing myself to slow down. I had it in my head that anything slower than 6mph was too slow and tried for a few months on my own to run 5k's consistently without much success. I finally decided to…
  • Run a 5k without walking and at a pace that I'm happy with! For now, at least... I WILL be faster by next month!
  • I like this thought process and that's the mindset I'm trying to adopt. I will count calories throughout my weight loss, and also for a while after when I switch to maintenance mode. But ultimately I want to be able to just live this new lifestyle and not have food be such the priority it is now.
  • I do strength and cardio the same day without issue. I've definitely experienced the ouch ouch, I can't walk problem before but that's just because I've started a new exercise or lifted heavier and my body wasn't used to it. Sure it looks funny when you try to stand up after sitting for a while, but it goes away after a…
  • I weigh myself every day, but only track it on MFP once a week and that's the one that counts. I realize that things will fluctuate day-to-day so I also don't freak out if I'm a pound heavier today than I was yesterday. I just make sure the number goes down week-to-week.
  • I'm actually working on changing my relationship with food, which I hope will help me maintain my weight once I reach my goal. Sadly I've gotten pretty good at this weight loss thing b/c I'm a classic yo-yo dieter. I lose the weight by being extremely disciplined with what I eat and cutting out all my favorites, and I'm…
  • I too read that you will actually lose muscle doing this because your body is in freak out conservation mode. That said, it's also true that working out in the morning gets your metabolism in gear for the rest of the day. When I workout in the morning, I have a snack like Greek yogurt, a substantial granola bar (none of…
  • I didn't know this was even an option, so I just set mine to friends only because it would be great to feel accountable. I love the idea of my friends encouraging me when things get rough. How do you actually see other peoples' diaries though??
