  • It's sort of pointless to post a quote without giving any explanation about why you think your quote is relevant to anything in this thread, particularly a quote that isn't self-evident. Is your contention that you cannot exercise on a low carb diet? That's nonsense. That your CNS shuts down on a low carb diet? I'd love to…
  • :noway:
  • You've got 2.5 inches on me but to give you some context, I have a pretty large frame and I'm aiming for 215 at the moment before I reassess where I want to be. I think 275 is very high, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Keep going until you're happy with where you're at, then focus on maintaining all your…
  • Personally I would be more worried about a doctor that believes in starvation mode than a doctor who thinks a VLCD may be appropriate for an obese patient.
  • Wait, so who is inch? And dare I ask how he got that name? But in answer to your question, it sounds like you're describing a recomp and that's definitely one option if you don't want to do bulk and cut cycles. And psu beat me to it.
  • It's not a matter of kindness or lack thereof. The choice of whether to eat the donut or not is pretty binary. You do it or you don't. And if you do, it's not the end of the world. That's all people are saying. We have a box of french pastries in our break room right now, fresh from a local bakery this morning. I could go…
  • But... cheeseburgers are delicious?
  • Agree on all points. Physically you'd probably be fine at 600 calories, at least for a while, assuming you follow a strict diet and supplement as needed to ensure proper nutrition. But what's physically possible is only half the battle. You also need to find a diet and exercise routine that is sustainable and that helps…
  • This won't be the last time you're exposed to calorically dense foods. If you have one, just log it and move on. If you don't want to have one because it doesn't fit your goals, then don't and pat yourself on the back for being strong.
  • You're welcome to add me, as I keep carbs low most days - at least for right now. That said, I'll just throw out there that you should really assess why carbs are your weakness and how eliminating/greatly reducing those foods is going to affect you. If they're your weakness because you really enjoy them, you may want to…
  • I can understand the trademark issue but the FCC banning it is a bit much if you ask me. I've never understood how cable television can air so much violence and sexual violence (I seem to recall an episode of L&O:SVU starting with a dead guy, naked, under the dining room table, handcuffed, with a banana up... well, you get…
  • Tea on an empty stomach makes me queasy as well, and it doesn't matter if it's hot tea or iced tea. I've never lost it as a result of drinking tea but it definitely makes me feel ill. That said, a small amount of food (like 100 calories of nuts, a biscotti, etc.) is all it takes to make the feeling go away.
  • I didn't know eyelash curling was a thing... but ouch. On the plus side, at least you were drunk.
  • Light and fluffy scrambled eggs just doesn't sound right to me. If anything, I like them a bit runny. But either way, it's good to try and log things in advance when eating at restaurants, particularly if you suspect they are preparing it in a non-conventional fashion.
  • Are you making sure your feet are secured when you're trying to do them? I always thought it was harder to do them when you have to keep your feet pressed on the floor, rather than having someone or something hold your feet down.
  • Nothing a good pair of pants wouldn't fix.
  • I could probably go sober until October... well, maybe.
  • There's always caffeine.
  • Last time I did that, I drew the Ace of Spades for 25 burpees. It was not a fun morning.
  • Ultimately it's only 21 days, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I don't know what if anything you'll gain from cutting sugar out, but if you think avoiding certain sugars for 3 weeks will help then I'd say go for it, because it can't really hurt in the long run. The physical side of weight loss is pretty…
  • I have nothing to add except that's hilarious and
  • No newbie is confident when they first walk into the weights section, and it doesn't matter whether you weigh 300 pounds or 120 pounds when you start lifting - you just have to suck it up and dive in. But you aren't too fat to lift weights. For that matter, some of the strongest men in the world are also pretty fat. This.
  • It's just the name of a weight lifting program. You can google it to find the specifics of the program like what exercises you're supposed to do on what days.
  • A lot of it depends on what equipment you have available to you and how much space you have available. Your routine is going to look a bit different if you have a power rack and barbell setup vs. if you just have some light dumb bells. If the former, you can look at SL5x5, Starting Strength, New Rules of Lifting for Women…
  • I don't really get it - if you enjoy carbonated beverages, why not try a diet soda or carbonated water? Not every food/drink you consume has to be rich in micronutrients, and I don't see anything unhealthy about consuming something because you enjoy it, particularly a diet soda/carbonated water that has no calories and is…
  • Feel guilty... for what exactly? Seems to me you would feel guilty for having done something wrong, but what exactly is wrong with losing weight. Yes it would be nice if we could spot reduce, but the inability to do so shouldn't make you feel guilty. I guess I don't get it, but guilty is not what comes to mind when I think…
  • As others have said, I'd contemplate why you're cutting carbs. If you're trying to intelligently put together a weight loss plan, you should have a reason for everything you include in it. So if you're planning to go low carb, I'd start with asking why? What are you hoping to gain from it? Have you tried eating a moderate…

  • While there are plenty of people making light of the diagnosis, there's a good chance that diagnosis is legit. It may seem unrelated at first glance, but a muscle tightness or imbalance (weak hips can also lead to knee pain) can alter your form when running or performing certain exercises and that altered form can lead to…
  • Sounds like a fluke to me. I doubt the two are related.
