I'm on this chocolate rice cake (60 calories) half cup of fat free milk (40 calories) kick. It holds me over for whatever meal is coming next. If i'm on the road, I take the rice cake with some water and that does the trick also. I used to always have peanut butter crackers in my purse, but having trouble finding them…

Caffeinated tea is also a diuretic (which is what dehydrates you) If you want to avoid that, herbal tea is pretty much the only way to go, or white tea if you take the tea bag out after about 30 seconds. I don't put anything in my tea so sometimes I count it depending how clear my urine is. (TMI!) I don't count coffee in…

One thing I don't think was mentioned yet is that you should take at least one break day from exercising to give your body time to repair itself. From http://www.momlogic.com/2009/05/weight_loss_mistakes.php 2. TOO MUCH EXERCISE: Exercise is an essential part of maintaining long-term health and weight control. However,…

Hi Doug! First of all, a ton of us have been there. I lost 20 pounds at one point, and gained it all back and then some after I went vegetarian. I too leaned towards the carbs. 7 months later, I'm still vegetarian and I'm just making healthier choices. I'm back on the wagon, lost 10 pounds and I seen no sign of stopping. I…

You might want to talk to your significant other about the issues and do your best to stay positive and make the situation as comfortable as possible for everyone. Teenage angst is totally normal, especially if she feels its unfair she has to take care of her brother's child. Realize you're ranting, but it does kind of…

My dad has this issue but he was running a lot. Are your exercises still pretty intense? Maybe start some strength training to build muscle?

I'm not a yoga expert nor an instructor but I've been doing different types of yoga for years. I lost 20 pounds just doing yoga, but not necessarily the stretching kind. I do a lot of Ana Brett's dvds that involve a lot of aerobic/fat loss driven ones that really make you work. You do hold difficult poses and it also…

I have been skinny most of my life, like underweight kind of skinny, so when I looked up my bwi a few months ago and it told me I was obese, my jaw hit the floor!!! I have recently moved it into the overweight section, but it's definitely horrifying to see. It's not the same as being morbidly obese, but the health risks…

thanks so much for everyone's helpful responses!

Dipping under 1200 calories, for me, is a sure way to set myself up to fail. It feels great the first few times, but then I just feel starved to death and end up pigging out on some cake or something totally off the wall. Slow and steady will win the race girly!

Doh. Good thing I'm a designer and not a math teacher. :/

I recently was feeling pretty good and went from 1 pound to 1.5 pounds a week, and I immediately regretted it. Almost simultaneousness, life happened and I found it impossible to stay within the calorie range. Going out always ruined it, and I was beginning to feel like a prisoner to my food. Since you're already so…

mmmm. morningstar, etc, has some amazing fake meats. I love the bbq riblets. I used to eat veggie burgers all the time but then I discovered that duh, it's all super processed so I try to eat it as sparingly as possible. They are so satisfying though!!

I really wanted to be beetlejuice, but didn't have time to make my costume this year, so I went flapper, using this old flapper dress i bought for $5 from the thrift store several years ago. At least I could fit into it!!

I don't think women are so much afraid of muscles as they are just more preoccupied with the calories and losing of the actual weight. I think it just gets left by the wayside.
-
only time they have to worry is if they are taking steroids haha!

Couldn't agree more. Sitting around eating nuts all day is going to kill your calorie intake haha. I guess spreadable pb or another nut is more satisfying than popping a few nuts in your mouth.

I don't know - I do a lot of yoga, the crazy Ana Brett kind where pushups, stomach exercises, etc are even involved in addition to the typical yoga benefits. It's listed under cardio, so that's where I record it. But as I'm losing weight, I am getting toned and strengthening myself. I don't really like I have to lift…

There are some lower calorie pb out there. I slap that badboy on one of those cute 70 calorie a slice bread. As a vegetarian, pb and banana sandwiches are like my lifeblood haha. I've lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks, but I've just started, so it could be all that junk/water weight too. Interesting :)

I am really eager for replies also. bump!

with all that exercise and still under your calorie limit? I feel so sad that you feel guilty. Enjoy it!!

I don't think NS works for food lovers. As soon as you make weight, you're back to eating the way you normally did. I tried it a few years back and thought it tasted horrible.

so happy for you! way to go. Definitely inspiring.

No need to apologize! No offence taken. These "True Vegetarians" you call it are actually called Vegans. They don't eat any animal by products at all and are the most extreme form. I admire their commitment but I think I love food way too much to give up some of those things! With that being said, if someone said it didn't…

Actually I explained it politely and offered her more help than you did. So... I'm not quite sure what to say.

Hahahaha! My husband's grandparents look at us like we're aliens because we don't eat meat. It's just sooo not their lifestyle.
-
It's important to most vegetarians (I know it's important to me) to have that separation. We really go out of our way not to eat any animal life. For people to call themselves vegetarians when they do in fact eat some form of animals is sort of a slap to the face to everything we've done to further the safety of all…

I hate going to the gym and sometimes I don't feel like leaving the house if it's super icky. I do a ton of yoga, both the stretching kind and the more aerobic kind. These are about $15ish. I know you said no money, but this has lasted me seriously, for years and it never gets old.…

Oooh, very good tip - thanks. Bookmarked!
