Can't seem to keep down a vitamin.
I hate talking vitamins. They are huge. I've been getting these equate women's multi vitamin and I can't seem to keep them down. No matter what I eat and drink it with, it makes me so sick that I actually have to vomit some of it - and whatever I've eaten - back up. Anyone else having this issue? Did switching brands help?

Soy lowers testosterone levels?
So I've been vegetarian about 2 years, and the husband has been vegetarian for 1. He came down with an illness and we found out that his testosterone levels are "very" low. It's just a small piece of the puzzle, however. In a panic, we started eating meat again (of which course destroyed my stomach - haha) I had to go back…

Pesctarians. vs. Vegetarians
This thread is mostly for vegetarians/vegans, but anyone is welcome to join in. I've been vegetarian for about 2 years now for purely animal rights reasons. I was one of those people who was really annoyed when fish eaters would call themselves vegetarian - if for nothing else that it confused the terminology. When I go to…

What's the one thing you couldn't live with out?
So I'm watching my (Okay, my husband's) football team lose horribly while I'm cooking up some soup for lunch next week, and it occured to me I had enough calories today to pound a Rogue Mocha Porter. And it's so yummy. I knew that when I lost weight, it was still really important to me to continue eating the foods I…

A great fall/winter soup
I'm not one to normally try stuff when I don't know when it is - but I have to admit, I tasted this while it's simmering and it's pretty great so far. I had some white beans I wanted to use up and this fit the bill for our daily lunches. I stuck very closely to the recipe except I added garlic, dry beans instead of canned,…

Breakfast. Do or don't?
So my entire life, I've always been told that you should absolutely eat breakfast in the morning. In fact, it's the most important meal of the day. However, every time I attempt to eat breakfast, be it a bowl of cereal, or some oatmeal, I am starving the entire day. I can't eat enough. It just makes me 10x more hungry! I…

What height should I use?
So I've always thought I was 5'5". Turns out I'm actually 5"4 and a half. So should I round up or down in this case when determining my proper weight? One inch seems to make a big difference, especially in men.

20 pounds lost
I've had a pretty strange journey. Gaining weight but not realizing I was getting fat, going from 120 to 183 at my heaviest. For the longest time I had no idea until I hit 160 that I was a fatty. Married life made me care less, but then I realized if I wanted to be healthy and actually have a baby at some point, I need to…

Brittle Nails!
Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed my nails are super brittle. After first I thought it was because i was biting my nails or maybe using detergents that were hurting them, but today I noticed my toe nails are also splitting and cracking at the tips. Possible nutritional issue? Anything I can do to try to help by…

Calorie loss per week changes as your weight goes down
So I lost 18 pounds. I was feeling awesome. Weeks went by. I had a few days where I said screw it and went way over. But 2 weeks later I hadn't lost any real weight. Just a few fractions. I wanted to know how close I was to a healthy bmi, when I stumbled back to my goals. I noticed that my 1 pound loss a week was suddenly…

Hi everyone! Been on MFP for a while now and found fellow vegetarians and newly weds. Soooooo, I figured I could also find some fellow yoga practitioners. Yesterday, I drank like 10 cups of water. My pee was running clear by dinner time. (And still, I kept drinking) However, when I woke up this morning, my pee was radioactive yellow. What gives? Some notes: My dinner was pretty high in sodium and I also went over my daily allotment. I've noticed my pee go all radioactive on…

some vegetarian i am. confessions of a guilty dieter.
Let me fill you in. I finally went vegetarian after many, many months of serious contemplation. Some of the **** I've seen is bad. Animals being skinned alive, cows being butchered in slaughterhouses. It finally took its toll, and after being a meat eateer most of my life, I made the switch cold turkey back in March. Since…

Hard Yoga = Circuit training?
Okay, so here is my issue. And I thank everyone in advance for reading this and offering some light on the subject. My main workouts are brisk walks and yoga. Here is where it gets interesting. I do a million different types of yoga. And by million I mean 4 main ones. One is of course Hatha, no problem there. The second is…

How totally discouraging
So I went to Chili's last night - first time eating out in like 3 weeks. According to Chili's website, I was able to count my calories and actually came in under my calorie goal. So when I got on the scale this morning and gained 1.3 pounds, I was totally floored! I realize there is always room for error when you're being…

Quick & Healthy Snacks for the Vegetarian
When I first became vegetarian, it was easy to gain weight because I was more motivated to eat the carbs. Pasta, pasta, pasta! I love to cook, but sometimes eating your gourmet meals make you feel a little guilty and bloated :) This is an awesome site for those (vegetarian or not) without a ton of time and need healthy…

Boring Lunches
Hi everyone! I'm having an issue with my lunches. They are just so boring! Every day is the same. Tuna fish sandwich or some type of lunchmeat with cheese, chips, and a piece of fruit. What else can I make that is low maintenance (maybe something I can make the night before) and that is something I can look forward to? I'm…

Losing a pound a day
Hi everyone! I have a question for you. Since I started this little shin dig, I have lost a pound a day. I went from 177 to 169 just from sticking to my calorie "budget." When I set my goals, I went with the recommended choice of a pound a week, so why the heck am I losing so much weight? Not that I'm complaining! I just…

what am I doing in this body?!
I've known for a few years I was getting a bit fat. I've become a little insecure, and would start dieting/exercising programs, and then after a week, go back to my usual ways. I recently got married, and the fact my husband found me attractive still did not make me really want to lose weight. Then it happened. Right after…
