Losing a pound a day

Hi everyone! I have a question for you.
Since I started this little shin dig, I have lost a pound a day. I went from 177 to 169 just from sticking to my calorie "budget."
When I set my goals, I went with the recommended choice of a pound a week, so why the heck am I losing so much weight?
Not that I'm complaining! I just want to make sure I'm safe.
Thanks in advance...

are you eating your exercise calories too?
I find, if I don't eat my exercise calories, I can lose anything between 1-3lbs per day.
Just a thought :flowerforyou:0 -
I would think as long as you're eating your recommended calories, eating right, and exercising then I would go with it. I too in the beginning saw around a pound a day gone or at least everyother day. But by the end of the month my weight loss averaged out to be about 4 pounds a month. Our bodies fluctuate so much that even though I weigh everyday...I don't get too worked up over numbers until the end of the month to see how it all worked out.0

When you 1st start out you lose a LOT of water retention you didnt realize you had. You had likely been consuming mass amounts of sodium, and drinking no water.
When you reverse this, you body cleanses out all the garbage (this includes the digestive tracts)
So usually the 1st week or 2 you will lose a lot, then settle in.

I'm no expert but I'd say you are shedding water weight, if you are just starting your journey.
I lost 8 lbs the first week. I slowed down after that and lost 2 more lbs the next week. It's an awesome way to start out though isn't it? I had lost 10 lbs in 15 days and my doctor was like, Lynn what did you do? LOL.
Keep doing what you are doing and those pounds melt off, just more slowly0 -
 That awesome. I'm trying to figure out why I'm having a hard time losing anything. I keep my calories to 1200 to 1400 per day and do 1hr of cardio (min 600 cal) 4 nights a week. Any suggestions. A pound every couple of days for me would be nice.0

It's mostly from waste and water.
But you're also young and have a decent amount of excess that needs to come off (like me ). Those two things in combination with each other can make for a quick 5-10lbs drop right off the bat. It will slow down, but don't let that discourage you because the slower weight loss usually means that it is actual fat that is being lost rather than excess fluids.
I lost 5.5lbs my first week. But I'm at 1.5-2lbs on average now. :flowerforyou:
It's all good.
By the way, I love your avatar.0 -
I did the VERY same thing when I first started, I think you are fine. Just do not get discouraged when it slows down to a normal pace - and it most likely will. I know I would still love to see that 7 then 5 pounds gone a week, but that would be unhealthy - I have to keep reminding myself of that.0

Yea just like everyone said, that will happen your first couple weeks.I lost 9 lbs my first week, and 1-3 lbs every week since then. Enjoy it!0
