What height should I use?

So I've always thought I was 5'5". Turns out I'm actually 5"4 and a half. So should I round up or down in this case when determining my proper weight? One inch seems to make a big difference, especially in men.

I am interested in this also. My height is 5'3" & 3/4" So I did put myself at 5'4" because it was closer to my height. What is others thought on rounding up instead of down?

I don't round up or down. I used to think I was 5"4 but now it turns out I'm 5"4 and a half. I just put 4.5 into the inches section...
  • I am 5'4" and 1/2. For the last couple of years, I have rounded down when I needed an even number. I figured that I am 42 and eventually I will shrink in height. I am interested in hearing what others do our situation.

Can't you just calculate for both and take a weight half way between the two results?

DUH! Why didn't I try that? It worked... thank you!

I too am 5'4 1/2 after thinking for years that I was 5'5. I round DOWN. I've always read for every inch over 5', you should add 5 pounds for the proper weight. So 5'4 is 120, 5'5 is 125, etc.. I feel and look better at 120. I like Stitcherbeth's reasoning, too. Eventually we all shrink!

I tried this in my profile but when I went back in it rounded it down. It did not keep the actual inches of 3.75 - it rounded the inches down to 3.
  • FYI. I just found my profile information for here. I tried to put in 5'4.5" and hit enter. It rounded down to 5'4" even. Also, playing with the BMI and ideal weight calculators from several sources, the difference in my ideal weight and BMI for the half inch is 2 pounds. Not a big difference to sweat over. Good information to know, but I am not worried over 2 pounds difference.

I'm 5 ft 4 and 3/4 inches... I just went with 5'5". I rounded up. It didn't seem to make that big of a difference.
