If you are an emotional eater, then I agree with a string of several above, that sitting down and asking why you are eating, what is eating at you, how is this (item of food - one thing at a time) going to change the why or the what. Feelings hide behind emotional binges, invite them into a frank discussion. Lots of folks…

You have lots of answers already. My experience is this: sugar, any sugar. has lots of carbs. For me, my body can't handle the high carbs and so I lose weight slowly even on a limit of 80 grams of carbs per day (set by my nutritionist). I would agree that fruit sugar is better than refined (white) sugar, but it is still…

I'm so sorry, what a bummer! Glad you wrote -- talking (writing) is good. We're in this together.

I too have underlying medical/nutritional issues. I have had little success if I consider only weight -- I've had to accept that I won't lose weight quickly, ever. I struggle with my maximum of 80 grams of carbs per day -- but my body really doesn't do carbs of any kind well. I do my workouts. I continue to plod along. I…

Tera's Whey protein powders are great. Several flavors and just shake in water. Also Greek yogurt.

I'm a former Diet Coke guzzler. Reflux changed that but I still have one occasionally if I'm really craving sweets.

For nutritional reasons I can't eat most prepackaged foods and most fast foods (even healthy ones) are out for me. I cook ahead and slice and package servings. I buy whole wheat tortillas (6-8 inch). I have cut up veggies prepped ahead of time; sometimes a veggie cassorole or homemade soup that I can heat up. I do use some…

Amen! That is the grossest thing about a gym - any gym.

Biggest Loser starts tonight in US on NBC (Jan. 3): we could compare/contrast if shows are not the same. I would like to be in and I'll message you my weight.

I get up early to work out - it's the only way that works for me. I also cook ahead so meal prep times are shortened. There have been so many good suggestions ahead of me, but I agree that if it's important and if you want it you can find the time.

Is it too late to join? I'd like to be part of this.

Thanks for this thread. I've been on MFP since September and would love to be friends with more 50+ folks. This is an amazing place for all the newcomers. Lots of good ideas. I especially like the receipe feature when calculates the micro and macro nutrition elements per serving - it's great AND you can share with MFP…

I cook on the weekends and usually put smaller portions in containers for lunches. I have microwaveable dishes at work so I don't have to heat in plastic. I also use low carb wraps to make sandwiches with lean deli meats (but I carry the ingredients seperately and make the wrap at work to keep it from getting soggy. Raw…

Thanks so much. I really appreciate this! Friend me if you wish!

When we were young, my younger sister and my brother highly resembled my mom; my older sister and I took more after my dad (although for me that was a bit of a stretch, we both have blue eyes). Now with some age, we all look more like my mom except that our skin tones haven't changed. Bro and lil sis are olive…

Trader Joe's has AWESOME dried mango with no sugar added. Because is it dried it is highly dense in carbs (mostly from its own natural sugar). The hardest thing is stopping after one serving!! Enjoy.

I think it depends on what is "everyday" for each individual. MFP can't know what is normal and every day for everybody - that would be totally ridiculous. I log cleaning pretty much anything beyond the counters, because that's the only thing I do every day. I also log shopping but, as someone else mentioned, I don't log…

I agree that once I stopped eating processed and highly refined foods it became much easier to know when I am getting full. Now, most of the time, I am quite able to stop when I am satisifed and let the remaining food go to waste instead of to waist.

I usually respond to something someone says or to someone who's been very successful with weightloss or overall fitness. I tell them to friend me if they wish. Most people I keep as friends but I have let a few go because they were not people who were helpful to me.

A different 4-mi WATP for me.

I will log in and log my foods as best I can. I won't stress about it and I won't work out. I need to be accountable to me -- and as others have said, for me it is a very slippery slope. I will enjoy the holiday and my friends, have no doubt about that! Merry Christmas to all who celebrate the day!

Oh, I should have said that. I was very young when I had my gall bladdar out, but I am every so glad that I did. (Mine was done so long ago that I have an 8" scar. They went in with hands then, not itty bitty instruments; in that way you are lucky!!!

Good for you for logging calories and reporting in. Friend me if you wish.

If you are watching more than calories, you will find that some veggies (yes, even veggies) have an amazing number of carbs in them. The carbs in broccoli astounds me.

Not this morning - up during night. Hoping to get workout in tonight.

Excellent! Good for you.

Just did 4miles WATP. I'll update the calories later,

Welcome back Jessi. Deaths can be hard. I lost my dad in July, but really didn't backslide until after the burial in September. I recommitted a couple of months ago and am now back to my starting (on MFP) weight. Add me as a friend if you'd like for support.
