Does anyone know if they are available for sale individually like the Luna or Pure Protein bars? You've seen those for sale in open boxes in the grocery stores or drug stores. Love to try one!

Interested!!! Tell me about them. I haven't seen them here in my state (Maine). Taste? flavors? crunch/chewy/soft? filled? Would they be in Whole Foods/Trader Joes? Thanks in advance!

Hey Group posters for this topic. Got a notice from MyFitnessPal that something happened with the some of the responses - somehow they didn't post properly and were deleted. If you see your post/comment/share disappeared, I apologize for this unfortunate happening. I would hope you would re-enter your post - I posted as…

I am totally intrigued with the Reactive Hypoglycaemicia condition post WLS. I have never heard of this and my MD/surgeon/nurse/support groups have never discussed it (pre/post surgery). I have had periodic shaking, rapid heart beat and dizzy spells once or twice a month. My PCP has run an EKG, blood tests (no sugar test)…

Do you have ALL of the dumping symptoms except the vomiting? Reason I ask, about 5 months out of surgery, I started getting 'dumping' like symptoms after ALL foods, but no vomiting. But I had one symptom that didn't tie in - total lack of appetite. Being that close to the surgery, I called the MD. He ordered an endoscope…

Thanks for sharing with me, and EVERYONE, the variety of 'things' that keeps you on track! From what you've shared for me/us, the keys to staying positive during the long winter involve commitment and expectations. I love the idea of a personal trainer. If someone is waiting/expecting you, there's more of commitment…

I'm sure your surgeon told you to call if you had any questions or pain. Since you don't know what that pain was - you should call the surgeon so he can chart it, just in case it becomes regular. Personally, several months after my RNY, I started to get a regular gnawing pain just below my xiphoid bone - that ache caused…

Wow, that IS a good question - I guess I am not sure it was a decision I made. When I reached 150lb loss, my surgeon told me to maintain 1200 calories a day, which I have with some days less than that. Most of the calories were protein calories. I noticed my weight loss began to slow down - despite exercising. At my next…

I really don't know what that is you are describing, PaulaKro. Any yeast infection I've had is an angry red rash spread out along the surface of the skin between/underneath the folds of the hanging skin. It can have some itch and smell to it, but most of the time its very sore and angry looking. Powder and/or Vaseline is…

My PCP (not WL surgeon) said that he can submit all the yeast infection treatments I have had pre-RNY and see if the insurance company will accept it as a reason for a panniculectomy now. However, he can't promise the insurance company will accept anything from the past. I have had NO yeast infections since my surgery.…

I started this group 2 years ago when I was looking for support and motivation for my Jan'12 RNY! So many people joined and we all were so gun-ho for each other. Since…

It's true that the RNY peeps need a more rigid regimen of vitamins. I will celebrate that 2 year anniversary on 1/20. Currently I take daily generic multi vit and Vit C gummies. I also take 2 calcium chews: 1-> late aft and 1-> evening (should not be taken same time as multi vits). I used to take Vit B complex sub lingual…

From reading your post, I'm convinced you are bound and determined to get healthy and you'll be successful (and happy). I shared so much of what you posted - especially the 'seat belt' experience (I was so embarrassed)!. Next month, I will celebrate my 2 year RNY anniversary! My simple advice is to use those experiences…

I will be two years out of RNY in Jan. and my favorite snack is Jello sugar & fat free cook'n'serve chocolate pudding made with skim milk. One box makes 4->1/4c servings with each serving only 35cal. Remember, I'm now on maintenance- and there is virtually no nutritional value to this 'snack'...but it's so chocolatey…

Most of the people who answered your question have spoken about their 'physical' prep. My 'wish' is mental prep. As I approach 200 pounds lost, I wish I had pictures of me before my surgery - I'm talking my past 30 years. I had been overweight most of my life, and in that 30 years, I have destroyed most of the photographs…

You're doing great! Success is such a motivating word! Protein, water and exercise are some of the key ingredients to continuing down that road to your goal. We are here to support your journey. Best of luck! :drinker: Christine

Rest assured, Sarah x This is a NO JUDGEMENT ZONE. We have all walked in your shoes, some many more miles/years than you. I hate the phrase 'been there. done that' but there are many friends here who share in your feelings. Our group focus is support. The Bariatric Surgery choice is not an easy fix. It is a long hard…

Hard work pays off now and in the end. Isn't it great to feel so proud of yourself? Keep it going, it can be as simple as the choices you (we) make! :drinker: Christine

I am right there with all of you in my sleep issues. I fall asleep quick and sleep hard from 10pm until 3 or 4am, then make myself try to sleep until I give up and arise at 5am, albeit refreshed but too early just the same. The only thing I notice that's different, is if I exercise or have a physically demanding day. When…

I didn't go 'crazy' during my last two weeks of liquid! But I rationalized that I could HAVE liquid! So my last few days included ice cream parlor chocolate 'frappes' (ice cream shakes). I knew I would probably NEVER have my most favorite ice cream drink again, so I decided that I would indulge. They were probably over 500…

Bubu_, I'm very happy to read all the replies, so far that can prove to you how different we all are in our weight loss journey. I, as well, would have been disappointed had my surgeon said he "was surprised I didn't lose more." Granted I'd already lost 50lbs before my surgery in January '12. Instead, when I weighed in 6…

Yes, thanks so much for the information. So far, I've not had one skin yeast infection and I'm approaching 2 years since my RNY. Part of my 'luck' is rubbing Palmers Cocoa Butter Skin Therapy Oil all over my belly and hanging abdominal skin twice a week since the surgery. My surgeon suggested this to reduce the…

I agree that it is totally normal yet I have developed a strategy to deal with it. When ANY friend or relative suggests eating out, ordering in, stopping for ice cream or any other high sugar/high calorie food, I go right along with it saying 'Sure!!! Would anyone mind if I share a bite or spoonful from your dish/plate?'…

How did you get your insurance to pay for it? My RNY surgeon says insurance is very picky on what they will pay for. If you used 'yeast' as a reason, did your PCP need to submit documented evidence? I have only begun thinking about getting it done, but discouraged as to hard it will be to get it approved. Thanks, Christine

I went to a bra specialty store and was fitted for the effect I wanted. The women measured me and I tried on several things. I picked the control top camisole and the knee length control top spanx . The cami, which tucks in the breast on the sides of my bra, also extends down over the spanx bottoms. I wear this combo with…

Great idea to keep the nutritionist informed. I saw mine once a week before the surgery and again after (once I was back on my feet). My nutritionist was invaluable to me - always great ideas on how to tweak what wasn't working and how to make it better. At times, she was more important than the surgeon. Use her/him,…

I hate those cliche phrases... but these two really fit ~ CONGRATS, 'today is the first day of the rest of your life' or 'suffer now, and live the rest of your life a champion.' You have joined an elite group of people who, with hard work, will enjoy the 'fruitful harvest'! Here's to you :drinker:
