It WILL get easier! I completed my first 5k last April and used the C25K app on my phone. I found it was daunting watching that time go by sooooo slowly until I could walk. So I tried to focus on making it a certain distance before my timer dinged. So, for instance, I'd start jogging and try to make it to the park bench…

I like fruit at night. It's low in calories and light enough not to keep me awake. Also, if you think you might not be TRULY hungry, try brushing your teeth. :)

Born and raised in Middletown, moved away when I got married, got lucky enough to be stationed there (husband's Air Force) at Wright-Patterson AFB for 4 yrs. Now we're in Albuquerque, NM, and I miss HOME!!! :(

Try drinking it through a bottle that has a straw. I find I drink way more water when I drink it through a straw rather than just sipping it from a glass. I'm also a sucker for flavored waters...especially Vitamin Water Zero. Yum!! And you can always add some Crystal Light to it, but remember that has calories in it.

I lost 25 lbs with WW! Loved it, but then I stopped losing weight so I switched to MFP. I still eat their frozen meals though. :o) Good luck!!

A protein shake after my workout really helps with muscle soreness. Since I've started drinking them after lifting, I have only had minor soreness, but nothing like before I was drinking them.

When I had strep, it took me 10 days to feel human again. I say you need to drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest...but I'm no doctor. I sure wouldn't worry about working out until you feel up to it. Strep is no joke! Feel better soon!

I lost 25 lbs on Weight Watchers and then I plateaued and felt like I wasn't eating enough so I pretty much just gave up. I liked the program and I LOVE their frozen meals/desserts. In fact, I still eat them even though I'm not on the program anymore.

Hip Hop Abs is amazing for beginners! I loved it! Also, any of The Biggest Loser workout are fairly easy and most of them have different levels, all with modified movements for beginners.

There are plenty of decent choices at McDonald's! For 480 calories you can have a regular hamburger and small order of fries and a Diet Coke or Coke Zero. The honey mustard snack wrap is only 250 calories and their grilled chicken bacon ranch salad is only 290 if you ask for it with the light italian dressing instead of…

I stopped eating their sandwiches because it's just too much bread and I don't stay full very long after eating. However, I do like their salads and I get chicken breast cut up on top of it and it keeps me fuller longer than the sandwiches.

My kids are in 2nd grade & kindergarten and their gym class is very structured. They do things at the beginning such as pushups, running, planks, situps, etc. and then the 2nd of half of their gym time is spent doing a fun game where they run around (tag, kickball, etc). I just wish they had gym DAILY instead of only twice…

Yes! The scale can go up as much as 5 lbs for me. :o( I try to stay away from the scale during that time.

Thanks! I totally agree. I used to think, "Oh...it's salad...I can eat as much as I want!" No wonder I got to where I was! I was loading up on salad along with the fettucini! Yikes!

I always feel stuffed right after and then 45-60 minutes later, I'm starving. I always chalked it up to bread being a fast-digesting carb? I have no idea why, but I stopped eating there and started eating lunch with more protein and I am not nearly as hungry!

This happens to me ALL the time at the grocery store. I guess I tend to shop early in the morning when little old ladies shop and I am always being asked to grab something off the top shelf.

Did you guys know Olive Garden has a low-fat dressing for their salad too? You can get the low-fat version and ask for it on the side. Much healthier than the drenched salad they normally bring. The breadsticks & alfredo sauce are my weaknesses there, so I just try to stay away!! :oP

So glad I found this thread!!! I am 5'11" and my goal is to get to 170 and be toned. I currently weigh 193 since packing on 4 lbs over the holidays. Short term, I'd like to get to 180 by my birthday in March.
