  • You can do it! Remember this is a journey and you will learn a lot along the way. I'm a slow loser so I can relate to the scale frustrations. Please remember to look at what you have started doing - like MOVING! and tracking what you eat. Celebrate what you have done! As you gain more experience you will find what…
  • As someone who has received a gentle nudge, it helps! Sometimes it's too easy for "life" to creep in and the importance of logging gets lost. I fell off the wagon the end of last year and told myself I knew how to eat right so logging wasn't critical. WRONG!!! 9 lbs later (up), I was back on this site. I've lost 6 of them…
  • Anyone heard from quigonnjae? Being sick stinks. Glad you're back on track sezz!
  • The gyroboard sounds interesting! I have done well with the exercise this week but havent yet made the time to do the calesthenics I added to my challenge this week. Unlike previous times where I've thought of doing it, you all have helped me stay accountable to myself. Thanks! Keep working your plan and I hope everyone…
  • Desk job here also. I do spend some time standing and doing presentations but, most of my days are spent running from meeting to meeting, managing emails, and putting out fires. I'd like to get to the point where i can fit in daily exercise break but right now I'm working on fitting in my snacks during the day. One step at…
  • One thing to note with the xbox kinnect: you need to be able to stand a fair distance away from the camera bar, or be sure to get the small room adapter.
  • Dairy! Including cheese and butter (which should probably both go in the fats category). I had a recommendation recently to limit my dairy to two a day - that's going to be tough - I love my cereal in the AM and then I'll have to choose between yogurt for snack or a glass of milk later. But, milk is one of my go-tos when…
  • Ok, late on my week 1 results and week 2 goals but here goes: Week 1 results: met my goals and lost 1lb Week 2 goals: continue existing workouts but add 1 day of calisthenics (I have a program I did that I keep saying I want to do again so this challenge is just what I needed to kick me into doing it), continue to eat at…
  • I can't see the photos but I will share I had a similar experience (lost 13 lbs, other folks noticed but I didn't). I struggled with even being in the same size so it was very frustrating. If it helps, a friend of mine goes to the grocery store and lifts up the 5 lb bags of sugar everytime she loses 5 lbs. It helps keep it…
  • Welcome!
  • Have you tried any of the Amy's meals? You have to read the boxes as I think Lean Cuisine does a better job of putting calories and sodium right on the front, but I haven't had an Amy's that I didn't enjoy. But, you do need to read the nutrition panel.
  • I agree w/ kaydensmom. In full disclosure, I watch my sodium intake because of a balance issue (ears). Nowhere near high blood pressure for me but, it's always been an important number. Of course, if you avoid processed foods, it's easy to keep sodium levels low. Of course it matters! There are thousands (millions) of…
  • Thanks, sezz. I've tried to fill my plate w more salads than other choices (watching the toppings!). Because the schedule is so far off, I find I'm eating more in general (as I'm starving by the time we fit get food). Having the snacks i bought muself today available tomorrow should help.
  • The Wii Fit Plus is fun for everyone. I own one and also have a friend who lost 40lbs using it. Note, the coach on Wii, is a little cranky so just be aware if you're sensitive to how hard you're working. It's just as cranky to fit people so, don't take it personally. I also like the Zumba bit i believe its the same for…
  • And, I'm Melanie. From Saint Petersburg, FL!
  • This challenge has been harder than I thought it would be this week. I am traveling and at a conference. So, I wanted to make sure to maintain my recent commitments (eat 4 times a day, withIn an hour of waking up, and get three solid workouts in. I think the workouts are do-able but am having a hard time with the food.…
  • Is there a trigger at work that causes you to eat more? If its access to good food, can you bring anything in? Or, is it a particular time of day?Maybe you can schedule a little walk around the building or stairs? Third, are you drinking enough water? Water is great to fill up, but also help flush things out. Hope that…
  • Welcome luvinmytwins! No worries about having good ideas, as long as you participate! It's all about getting it DOne. Good ideas re: challenge everyone.
  • Someone will have to explain that one to me (boxing on the Wii). I never felt like I was really doing anything other than waving my arms around like an idiot. But, maybe it's just me! :)
  • I agree it may not be your shoes that are causing your knee pain. BUT if you are looking for new shoes, head to the nearest running store. Even if you are not a runner, they will do a free gait analysis and can recommend shoes that will work for you and what you want to do. You may also want to consider a chiropractor as…
  • Just Dance is fun. You can probably pick up version one or two at GameStop for less than buying new, if you're not sure.
  • I'm in. We can do it!
  • Feel better soon! A friend turned me on to these tofu noodles (don't turn ur nose up just yet!) called shirataki noodles. The brand I prefer is Wildwood Pasta Slim. I buy them at Whole Foods but my local Publix also carries them (different brand). The Pasta Slims don't have an off-putting odor and seem to require less…
  • I second the gait evaluation along with new shoes. I was wearing a "great" brand of shoes and got to the point where I could barely walk. I knew I had flat feet (#1 cause of shin splints from what I've read) but thought good shoes would be enough. I rested, bought new shoes and orthotics based on gait analysis, started…
  • Great post! Exercise is an investment in yourself. Nice to know I'm not the only one who doesn't love it but its a much better stress reliever than a bag of chips!
  • 6 months to go for me but also looking to connect w friends in early 40's. Please add if you'd like.
  • Welcome! The first step is to recommit to yourself, which it sounds like you've done. Don't beat yourself up about the slide, focus instead that you have decided to do what's right for you TODAY! Way to go!
  • Exciting! It's fun to shop in your own closet. :) Way to go!
  • Yea! Great job!
