PS> can anybody tell me which Chia seeds are considered better (in effectiveness and in taste), white or dark?? I want to order some online and see if they work for me. Thanks

My boyfriend and I were sitting open mouthed in total shock when we watched that - it goes so much deeper than this too, it's just ridiculous how the ultimate decision makers have no grasp on what is healthy and what is not - or actually they DO but they can't be bothered to fight for it. And the money to them, is better…

Absolutely unbelievable.

Actually, I am exactly the same - people tell me I eat far too late but you're right it frightens off the snack attacks! On the nights I eat ealier (not often), I do get the urge to snack...so nettle tea, fruit tea or a few gulps of non fat milk or a 40cal hot chocolate fill me up and make me feel sleepy which is a good…

Great idea, but unfortunately I am not allowed to do that as it is detrimental to my enamel, such a shame! Another idea is to drink fruit or herb tea...loads of it. I still snack in the evening (or eat dinner late, more like) but I find this minimises my apetite somewhat....

Good substitutes for the colour and flavour that tinned tomato usually gives dishes are (from my experience, because I am not a fan of tinned tomatoes - but I LOVE fresh tomatoes): Ketchup Tomato puree mixed with stock Paprika Pimenton Red peppers - preserved after being roasted especially good, when chopped or blended…

Interesting to know this about Rapeseed/Canola oil - thanks for clarifying this neanderthin (good name), I shall look further into it as I dont want to be doing my body more harm than good....! Misleading articles, information online and in the media in general really can lead to misinformed decisions...this possibly being…

Ok, I seriously have issues with food and an obsession with eating in that case: I like to eat my lunch when at work *privately* (basically with nobody interrupting or disturbing me) I always plan my meals. I count all my calories ad fat grams (apart from on weekends  ) I always think about the next time I am going…

Pardon my naivety but what does NSV stand for? I looked it up and the results I got were ( ) NSV Net Sales Value NSV Nullsoft Streaming Video NSV Noise Shaped Video (Sony) NSV Nationalistische Studentenvereniging (Belgium) NSV No-Scalpel Vasectomy (Chinese puncture technique) NSV Network Services (UNC Greensboro)…

Rapeseed oil, as I have recently discovered, is one of the best: http://www.wharfevalleyfarms.co.uk/why-rapeseed-oil/default.aspx What are the health benefits of Rapeseed Oil? •Contains the lowest saturated fat content of any oil - less than half that of Olive Oil. •Has 10 times more Omega 3 than Olive Oil •Is a good…

I tried the pint of water between sips of wine trick last night - it was great. PLUS, my dinner portion was tiny and I got full very fast. Will keep this one up, for sure :drinker:

Yup. If I wake up to go the bathroom, I often will then go downstairs to the fridge, nibble on a bit of cheese or have a few swigs of skimmed milk or a bite of a cookie or similar....then go back to bed. Midnight snacker. Bad.

I can see how this works with white wine but I think it'd ruin red wine, sadly :(
-
What a brilliant idea, I am going to start using this technique, also means I'll eat less dinner as water leaves me feeling so full. Thank you, you clever thing :)
-
Honestly - you probably dont have to "taste" the pasta, rice, bread, potato whilst you prepare....so only allow yourself to taste the meat and veg, and make sure you use a teaspoon only and try not to taste more than twice. Unless you really have to, to check seasoning etc. I am very similar to you, I pick at the food…

I have to say, I do completely agree with this point of view - if they are good trustworthy & valuable friends, then the intent of sabotaging your success with your weightloss wont even cross their mind. More likely they just want you to let go and enjoy yourself whilst in their company, nothing more nothing less x

....I'd probably have no lips left by the end of the day if I was to use this lip balm! That'd make me crave bacon even more :)

 I know the feeling, plenty of my co-workers eat freshly cooked fries at their desks, every friday guaranteed.

apparently a couple of small capfuls of organic cider vinegar mixed with triple the amount of hot water first thing in the morning and then before every main meal, daily.....is supposed to aid weight loss. i tried it for a while, i didnt notice a real difference to my apetite to be honest but i did feel rather cleansed. i…

Oh no, I am really sorry to hear you're still experiencing chronic pain. It seems you've certainly got a great way of dealing with it: with a sense of humour and postiive outlook - nice. :flowerforyou: Great story, thanks for sharing - and no, alcohol is definitely not the best way to deal with any pain but it does help…

Thanks Jen, luckily it's gone but I've got some deep cold gel on standby for the next time this happens now!
-
Totally! I'll definitely come to you for advice next time :drinker:

My thoughts exactly, "a bit of tuesday fun" - bit sad really. This is meant to be a supportive site, right?

The ONLY reason I posted this post in the first place, was simply to gather some interesting/inspiring recipes from first hand cooks who might be able to help. So thank you to those who took the time out to share a tip or two, if I didnt thank you *directy* I do apologise if that offended you!

I do enjoy the canned ones but these are fresh ones I'm talking about which are a lot bigger and will probably stink out my house when I cook them, but will all be worth it I'm sure!

Nicely found, excited to try this! I initially googled fresh sardine recipes, but I also wanted to get other new and home made ideas from other helpful home cooks, that's simply all (so I appreciate those of you who gave me your suggestions, thank you). The way I see it, if I can help, then I reply to threads. I genuinely…

That sounds great, I've caught them before (well, only the one) whislt on a boat in Turkey and when the captain cooked it, it was stunning, I didnt get the recipe though so thanks for this.

Ok, now THIS is more like it - now we're talking. I'd have never in a million years thought that people do this with fresh sardines. Sounds incredible, I look forward to trying this - will report back with some feedback after giving it a go - thank you
