Yeah, I always log what I eat even when I have a bad day. For some reason it does help a lot.

No, I exercise because it raises my TDEE (and it's fun), but because of the method I am using to get a deficit, I don't eat my calories back. I used to, but I stopped losing weight when i did!

sup :)

Large deficits do not prevent weight loss. If this was true no one would ever die of starvation. A very large deficit sustained for months can over time mean a slower rate of weight loss.

Do what works for you.

yep

I have read that a full 'diet break' after a long period of dieting helps people lose more weight over the long term. That means eating at maintenance for a month or so.

this

Pretty much this.

same here haha

I was under the impression that there was some evidence indicating high phosphorus content in diet drinks or sodas may correlate with lower bone density in greater life. See http://www.diseaseproof.com/archives/osteoporosis-diet-soda-depletes-calcium-and-may-increase-heart-attack-risk.html

I do 5:2, and I calculate my total calories week by week rather than day by day. I worked out my daily TDEE, using the average of several online calculators, then extrapolated it to one week's worth of maintenance calories (i.e. daily figure x 7) I aim to have my total calories per week be 4,000 calories lower than this…

Hi all! I have been doing 5:2 properly for three weeks now. My starting weight is 139lb, I would like to lose 14lb to get down to 125lb, that is my ultimate goal weight. I am excited to do this for 3 months as I have found it quite easy so far, I am hoping fervently that it will help me get past this terrible plateau which…

This is literally exactly what the study disproved. Read the evidence.

It definitely sounds like the pill to me too. It happened to me, even though I was exercising and eating exactly the same. I went up two boob sizes! I had to come off it.
-
I would move your cals to 1400 a day, this will make it easier to stick to a restriction day by day. If you're still not losing after another month, and are having any cheat days, I would cut out cheat days and see what happens then. You pretty much have to keep with it for a while to see any difference either way though…

It does slow after a very low calorie diet for a very long time. However weight loss does not stop altogether. Otherwise people wouldn't starve to death. It's difficult to enter starvation mode unless you're eating less than 1000 calories a day for months at a time. I highly doubt that's the case here.
-
Please tell me you're joking and I just missed it.
-
All food is made up of chemicals. Your entire diet is made up of chemicals.
-
You can add me! I log food every day, although I don't log my workouts here I go to the gym at least three times a week usually :)
-
this!

To be fair, water *does* cleanse the body. In the shower.
-
I'd say this is probably true, however it usually takes longer than 2 weeks to notice weight loss anyway, so use MFP and keep at it for a month-6 weeks, then see where that gets you.
-
Medication actually caused me to gain 60lb without a change in eating habits and while exercising more frequently.
-
Hmmm, very interesting post, thanks! Replying to save to read again later.

There is no such thing as 'stubborn' fat. Total calorie intake determines fat loss all over your body, you can't spot reduce weight loss. Track and watch your total calories daily and eat 40/30/30 to start with, then see how you go.
-
I'm doing the exact same as you. Some weeks I just do one fast day instead of two.
-
Thanks for this. I really needed to read it after a horrible weekend!
-
I added you. I log religiously during the week, I often have bad weekends though. I'm working on it!

As a woman who never seems to lose weight, only inches, through intense training, this is v interesting to read!
