  • I'm in too! My 40th birthday is August 31st and I'd LOVE to see the 150s by then! I'm also leaving for Vegas that day! SW: 262 CW: 165 GW: 159 Ultimate Goal Weight: 140 Weigh in Dates: 8/1 8/8 8/15 8/22 8/31 Total weight lost:
  • I did WW for a year. Lost 80ish pounds and decided to switch in January of this year when my husband started doing WW online. I didn't want to pay for both of us. Now he's switched to MFP as well, so we're both losing for free! :)
  • I agree with the foam rolling and doing it again as soon as possible. It totally sounds counter-intuitive, but it works. Work the same muscles again after a day or so and it works the soreness right out of them!
  • Shelgirl001 - 42? bugs - 35?
  • It's true! I get cold so much easier and chairs aren't nearly as comfortable as they used to be! My husband has lost quite a bit lately as well and he has complained that he doesn't have as much padding as well. Metal folding chairs are particularly uncomfortable....

  • I've heard Body Glide will do wonders too. I plan on buying some to use when running soon. I don't get it as bad anymore, but when it's hot and humid, my thighs still stick to each other a bit.

  • I plan my cheat meals too. I knew I was going to a neighborhood party yesterday evening, so I saved my weekly cheat meal for then. I let myself eat lots of chips and dips and even chocolate-dipped strawberries and marshmallows. I'm sure I was over my calorie goal for the day, but I was up at 7am this morning to do my…
  • I ate a lot of fruit in the beginning and it didn't seem to hinder my weight loss at all, but as I get closer to goal, I've noticed that any sugar hurts my weightloss. I don't know if that's normal or not, but I'm trying to cut down on fruit to see if that helps the scale start moving again.
  • I totally agree that other people will notice it first. I'm so used to seeing myself much bigger that I don't see myself objectively in the mirror at all. I'll see a picture and be totally shocked that I look that thin! In the mirror, I still see myself as 260 pounds....
  • I'm between 5'4" and 5'5" and am at 164 right now. My initial goal was to get into the healthy BMI range, which would be under 150. I may reevaluate when I get there, but I've never been as small as I am right now, so I can't imagine what 150 will look like....
  • It's true! I am the same way! This summer hasn't been too unbearable for me (even with temps in the 100s and high 90s) and I'm FREEZING in air conditioned places (church, restaurants, movie theatres, etc.)!
  • Brandy, I'm doing the exact same thing right now. I wanted to be at my goal weight by my 40th birthday (end of August), but it's just not happening. I feel like I'm doing all the right things and nothing is coming off. Summer is hard for me because the kids are home and I have more snack foods around the house for them. My…
  • I stir it in my oatmeal in the morning, instead of using real peanut butter. It adds the protein without all the fat. I think it still gives it a nice peanutty flavor....
  • I started at 260 and I would say that I was probably eating about 1600 calories in the beginning too. I'm down to 1300 + some exercise calories now. I did workout from the beginning of my weightloss journey, but nowhere near the level at which I'm working now. I tried to walk and/or do water aerobics at least three times…
  • That's a really good idea.....
  • I'm planning to root for both too. But if/when the Colts play the Broncos, I'm going to have to stick with my hometown team.... THE COLTS! :)
  • One of the things that helped me get my breathing under control is to concentrate on breathing OUT, not in. Focus on getting all the air in your lungs out with every breath. Your body will automatically take in the next breath, so you don't need to focus on the intake. And I totally agree with you... running is a mental…
  • Oatmeal for breakfast every single morning. And coffee....
  • Does your gym provide a basic orientation to the equipment? I would start with that. Let a "professional" show you proper form and help you determine a plan.
  • That was my initial thought too. For 46 g of carbs, there must be something other than chicken in those fillets. And that's a LOT of salt too!
  • I agree. Your arms will shrink proportionately with the rest of your body as you lose body fat. My arms still have a bit of flabby skin on them, but underneath there is definitely muscle. I'm almost to the point where I will voluntarily wear a sleeveless shirt.... and that's really saying something!
  • I was 38 when I started my journey in January 2011. I'm down almost 100 pounds now from 262 to about 164. I've got 19 pounds to go to my first goal. It's been a long journey, but definitely doable! Just keep at it. You'll notice right away how much more energy you have when you start eating better! Don't give up because if…
  • I do Turbo Kick all the time. I weigh 168 and burn about 500-550 per hour. MFP has "kickboxing" as an exercise, but it usually overestimates my calorie burn by quite a bit.

  • So what you're saying is that since I've been fat for almost 40 years, I'll have all this loose skin until I'm 80??? I sure hope not!!
  • I did the shred about a year ago. Yesterday I had a sick kid home from school so I couldn't make it to my kickboxing class, so I pulled the DVD out again. Started out with Level 1 and decided it was a bit too easy, so I did Level 2 as well. Let's just say that I'm hurting a bit today! All those lunges and squats are…
  • Hot drinks definitely help keep me from snacking in the evenings. I have a cup of decaf every night after I put my kids to bed.
  • Instant oatmeal only takes 1 1/2 minutes to cook in the microwave. I have that with a banana or frozen blueberries mixed in.
  • I agree! Before/After pics definitely help! I have lost 95 pounds and I still have days where I look in the mirror and see the old me. I'm not sure those days will ever completely go away. I'm about 16 pounds away from normal BMI and I can't wait to get there! Just focus on how much better you feel about yourself and how…
  • Losing weight is 80% nutrition. You can't exercise away a bad diet. So, if you're going to only do one or the other, watching your food is more important. However, I exercise so that I can eat...
  • Definitely a victory!!! Great job!
