I run, but I have trouble staying motivated too. It's such a solitary activity and I'm a pretty social person. I can force myself to run when I'm training for a race, but otherwise, I'm much better at being committed to a group exercise class. My favorites are turbokick and piyo. I make plans to meet friends there and then…

For me, sugar is an addiction. The more I eat, the more I crave. Therefore, I need to cut out sugar as well to cut the cravings. After the cravings disappear, I can slowly add in some good carbs and fruit, but the best thing for me to jump start my weightloss is to cut the sugar.

Heart rate monitors aren't meant to measure caloric burn when you're not exercising. It will not be accurate.

Agreed! I weigh 170 and an hour of HIIT exercise only gets me about 600 calories at the most. And strength training doesn't burn anything close to that. Even when I weighed 260 pounds, I'm not sure I would have burned 2000 calories in three hours. Buy a HRM and get an accurate reading. Netting -800 calories per day is not…

I work out at our local YMCA and they would definitely NOT tolerate language like that on t-shirts. They are very focused on the whole family and there are children everywhere in the building. I'm pretty sure there's a sign in the wellness center saying that profanity is not allowed. Have you said anything to the staff…

You need more for breakfast for sure, especially if you work out in the morning. Get some protein in your body early in the day! My favorite breakfast is oatmeal with full fat peanut butter and a banana!

Spend $75 and buy a heart rate monitor. Neither the treadmill nor the calculator here is very accurate when compared to my hrm.

I'm doing my first half in just over two weeks on Feb 24th at Disney World!!! I'm hoping to finish around 2:30, but since it's a Disney race, I'm planning to relax and enjoy the experience too. I've been training since last summer.

I did C25K when I was about 240 and I agree with everyone who says that good shoes are the key! Go to a running store and get your gait analyzed. Invest in really good shoes. You will NOT regret it. Also, never run two days in a row. Alternate with non-impact exercise. When my knees started hurting, I did water aerobics…

Olive Garden has a low fat salad dressing that tastes almost identical to their regular dressing. Get it on the side and then go crazy with the unlimited salad. I usually get a bowl of the minestrone soup and limit myself to only one breadstick, if any.

I stopped the pill and it took one full month for all the hormones to get out of my system. I got pregnant the second month with both girls. Good luck!

One tablespoon natural peanut butter and half a banana!

I did this last Friday. Had the salad with no cheese and low fat Ranch (on the side), the steak kabobs and asked for veggies instead of rice. They brought me the kabobs on rice anyway, but i refrained from eating it. Their rice isn't that good anyway. Have a great meal though!

Me too!!!!

Too much salt? Water weight? Muscle inflammation? Since you're a man, you can't blame it on TOM, but I can easily gain 5 pounds in about two days before that....

I've lost 100 pounds and have gone down from a size 22 to a size 10/12, but there is NO WAY I look like I'm in my 20s. Nor do I look good in a bikini. I think I look pretty good in clothes, but gravity has not been kind to my body.... Hang in there! You can do it! And I agree....get some clothes from Goodwill or a thrift…

I'm 40 years old and my acne is worse now than when I was a teenager. I've read that it can happen with weight loss though, due to hormones and toxins being released from fat cells. I keep hoping it will get better.

5'5" SW 262 - size 22/24 CW 162 - size 12 (some 10s) GW 145 - hopefully a size 8, but I'm a pear for sure, so you never know. I'm wearing a medium top now and am hoping I won't lose much more from the top half of my body (except my bat wings)

Response should be "You'd be smart if you weren't so stupid."

I'm doing my first 10K tomorrow and my first half in February. All the advice is very helpful, as I'm finding myself very nervous tonight. :)

Standard before/after pic of 100 pounds lost to remind me of how far I've come.... not done yet, but having bouts of lost motivation.

I remember when I felt my pelvic/hip bone for the first time! It scared me too! All of a sudden I had this hard thing sticking out when I was lying on my back! :)

I started my healthy lifestyle back in January 2011 and it took a year before my hubby joined me. He's been tracking calories since January 2012 and is now down 60 pounds. He really isn't working out or exercising, but he definitely has more energy than before. :)

I never noticed the cravings or the bloating when I was fat and on birth control. But now that I've lost a bunch and no longer taking hormones, I notice the cravings (for EVERYTHING) and the bloating. I gain 3-5 lbs and then it takes me a week afterward to get rid of it. I will finally see a great number on the scale and…

50 is a big deal! Of course, this is coming from the woman who has been sitting at 98 & 99 for months....just waiting to turn triple digits! Hoping this will be the week!

Their low fat salad dressing tastes IDENTICAL to their regular dressing. You have to ask for it, but it's great!

After a heavy strength workout, I always drink a protein shake to replenish. And definitely plan to take a day off between strength workouts. Your muscles need a day to repair the microtears you made while lifting!

Soda for sure. I used to be a diet Coke addict, but since giving it up over a year ago, I can't stand the stuff. In fact, I don't like any carbonated beverage at all!
