  • Do you lead a very active lifestyle?? I'm a 6'0" man who weighs about the same as you and I'm eating around 1500 a day to target a 1 lb per week loss. Maybe a few less calories unless your job and daily life are very active.
  • Just wondering if there are more thoughts on Scott Jurek's experience. I don't know his level or protien consumption and I just bought his book. I did notice that this factoid killed the thread. What do you guys think of the the number of vegan athletes out there?? I assume, they are not eating the mass protien diets that…
  • Hi, I've been running for almost a year. At first my goals were modest and I wanted to run a 5k. Now I've done three 5ks and I've found that I have a passion for running. I've also found that I'm actually a decent runner. I run barefoot at least once a week to work on my form and my near term goal is to improve my form and…
  • I've basically been on a diet for the past 20 years. By that I mean I'm always learning more and honing how I eat and exercise. LIke someone already said, it's a lifelong process. I go up and down a little and at this point I'm basically in the best shape of my life.
  • Thanks
  • I arranged for my wife to meet her celeb crush Jason Mraz. She even got a kiss!
  • I love my Windows Phone 7. You should hold off if you can or get a refurb cheap on for now until the new Windows Phone 8 and iPhones are out. Windows phones are sleek and fast. I love the UI and the intergation is great too. You should at least give it an honest look before buying.
  • You win the most obvious statment of the year award.
  • I really hope you get better. If running hurts, the of course you should stop until you fell better. Gotta love our healthcare system. I assume you're not poor enough to qualify for medicaid in your state?? Running form can have a LOT to do with knee pain. If your running and landing on your heel with a straight leg, then…
  • I'm not trying to start a fight, but your statement about getting fat just isn't accurate. If you trying to bulk up, maybe, but for normal everyday living, it's just not true. I know lots of thin and fit vegetarians and vegans (basically myself included, I eat a little fish now and then) that get protien from beans or soy…
  • I make my own black beans and they get good reviews - even from my south american bean eating friends. Basically it's this: 2 medium red onions 1 red pepper 1 or two or more serrano peppers (heat level up to you) 4 cloves minced garlic 1.5 tablespoons ground cumin chipotle powder or chilies to taste a little olive oil 1…
  • Wow! I went to lunch and came back to all these great responses. I see I'm not alone. Running is Awesome!
  • here's the macros for 1 cup of black beans cooked. Calories 227 Sodium 408 mg Total Fat 1 g Potassium 611 mg Saturated 0 g Total Carbs 41 g Polyunsaturated 0 g Dietary Fiber 15 g Monounsaturated 0 g Sugars 0 g Trans 0 g Protein 15 g Cholesterol 0 mg It's a pretty balanced food. There is a lot of carb but also a lot of…
  • I remember having a few instances of major Mr. Grumpy Pants when I was down too. I hope you get better soon!
  • Exactly! It's so unlike me
  • The best advice, get up early and drink a cup of coffee, then you poop before and don't have to run with that extra weight inside
  • You need to expand your horizons a litlle and look at reality. Get out of the republican echo chamber. Answer pelase... 1. Name the freedoms you've lost under obama 2. Tell me how much more you pay in taxes under obama 3. Quantify for me how much more debt we're under from obama that's not a hangover from GWB's recession…
  • Do you know what your talking about?? McD's did this and she applauded them for it. Why do kids need caramel sauce for apples. You realize this is a site for encouraging health and fitness, not consuming junk calories. You just don't like the Obamas. We get it.
  • So then we really just have a diffence of where the line in the sand is drawn.
  • A better idea is actually a price cap on soda. Max price is 25 cents so free refills could no longer be built into the price  . I'm running for mayor.
  • All of those out there who say what you eat is just a personal choice, do you not realize the big picture impacts of obesity or do you just think personal freedom is more important than the overall cost to society?
  • Why are we getting fatter as a nation?? When we got two worker households, we seem to have sold our food culture out to big business. There goal is to make money, not make us healthy. So, we get tons of cheap empty calories that make people want to come back for more. Look at newbie's diaries on here and the stuff people…
  • And we have no problem taxing cigarettes like crazy in most states. Hmmm double standard maybe??
  • No free coke is fascism but the Patriot act is okay with you I assume? I think we should tax what people put into their mouths actually. People don't seem to be able ot control themselves and my healthcare premiums are paying for it.
  • Yep! But lets all put our heads back in the sand and pretend fat is healthy.
  • Govt. pays for a huge amount of the healthcare bill in this country. Is Govt. not allowed to implment policies that might reduce that healthcare bill? That's the issue here. This isn't about fatty's desire to drink free soda. It's about this national economy becoming burdened by healthcare costs. Get out of your tiny woe…
  • Agree with this. I'd ask the trainer what he thought was going on. Pretty clueless. You could have hurt yourself when you passed out.
  • Oh wow. That's a nasty workout. Did you tell the trainer you were getting tired? That sounds like a lot of cardio to begin with. I'm surprised the trainer couldn't sense your level of exhaustion coming on.
  • That shoe is minimal and maximum at the same time! Nearly a 1" think heel! My Merrells are 4mm heel and toe. The lack of drop is chaning your gate and your landing on your forefoot. Bend your knees, take shorter strides and let your calves relax.
