Get the hang of meeting calories first, then you should be able to see which macros you really need to adjust. You may have to come up with creative ways to meet macros within your calorie goals, but in the meantime you'll still start losing weight.

I usually combine one serving of almonds with one serving of raisins. Much more satisfying. I'm usually good for about 2 hours after before feeling hungry again.

If you have lost weight since you upped your calories, or if your exercise has been upped to a higher level, it might be time for a re-calculate. If you've lost weight, you might not need those calories anymore. My professional nutritionist (AASDN certified nutrition specialist) is one of the 'they' who tout the benefits…

If it's been two months, go ahead and give yourself a cheat day and don't worry about it. One day over your calories because of drinking in two months is not going to wreck your weight loss journey. Plus, the not feeling deprived will keep your mind in the game. If you find it hard to let go (as I often do if I've already…

I think that you and I are very similar. I'm 31, one child, food-lover, hungry all the time. Nine weeks ago, I was 155lbs. Today, I weighed in at 148. Nine weeks ago, I started working with a nutritionist, and on day one she starts talking about counting calories. My reaction was not positive - I've tried this before, and…

I've been eating from a big bag of Daily Chef whole almonds - bought it on the cheap at Sam's Club. Each serving is 27g and has 150 calories. I usually pair them with some raisins for an afternoon snack. You should be good with any brand though - just make sure they're not salted. Calories and all should be roughly the…

When many women have to return to their full-time jobs at 5-6 weeks post partum, why is it such a bad idea to get a little R&R after 10 weeks? At that point mom is likely getting little-to-no sleep as well. I was eternally grateful for my parents and in-laws any time they wanted to help us recharge. It definitely goes a…

(1) As someone else suggested, take measurements and re-do them every 6 weeks or so... you may be making more progress than you think! (2) Are you sure you are tracking all of your calories? Just glancing at the past week, it seems as though there are many days when you are less than 1200 calories. Eating so little can…

How. Freaking. Awesome. I would never wear a shirt again. ;-)

You can also try chickpea four as a substitute for white/wheat flour. More fiber and protein and gluten-free. Bob's Red Mill is the brand I usually buy.

In my experience, weight drops quickly at first but then tapers off as I have less and less to lose. You're hoping for 4-5lbs down per week, and everything I've heard says that 1-2 is a healthier rate of weight loss. I would give yourself more time for all 50lbs. But definitely you could lose your first 25lbs by then and…

Just wait. My son turned three on June 24 still in diapers and with no interest in the potty whatsoever. The following week, he suddenly started using the potty on his own. Follow your boy's lead and he'll let you know when he's ready for it.

One good thing about weight loss being a journey is that there is time to learn from mistakes and move on down the road. Perhaps this experience will help you think twice the next time you think you want to go off track. Think about this: What was the reason behind you really wanting those cookies? Was it a physical,…

See I've always gone by the 'first pet and street you grew up on' version. Following this, my name is Roxy Longmount. Perfect.

Check out the Meal Makeover Moms! They have a website, podcast, and cookbook (No Whine with Dinner) and their focus is to take bad-for-you recipes and remake them into healthy recipes to feed a family with children (even desserts!!). They are genius!!

I love the South Beach Diet cookbooks - they have a 30-min or less version and a superquick version. I love many of the recipes, and they have lots of salad/sandwich-type recipes for lunches but I mostly end up using my dinner leftovers. Best of all, every recipe includes nutritional information and an indicator of GI…

Recently, I felt overwhelmed by trying to fit in exercise as well. One day, I sat down with a weekly planner and thought out how I could fit a bit of exercise in: 30min strength training, 150min cardio, and 30min stretching per week to start. I consulted with my family on their needs, considered my full-time work schedule,…

Your choices look pretty good, but you really don't eat anything for breakfast! Research has shown that eating breakfast within the first hour after waking will give your metabolism a boost that lasts the entire day. Even if it's just something as small as a banana with your coffee, having breakfast every day is a small…

Woah - chill out! Did you eat or drink anything today? Yea, that would probably do it. Weigh in at the same time of day every time - ideally in the morning, after taking care of business, and in the nude. And only weigh in once per week so that small fluctuations are not confused with actual weight gain/loss.

Your metabolism is probably slowing down because your calories are too low. If you are exercising so much, you need to fuel that body! Eat at least 1200 calories per day, about 240 calories/meal with your first meal being within the first hour after waking. Then, eat every 3-4 hours after that. This will fire up your…

My trainer says that no woman should eat less than 1200 calories per day to keep the metabolism going and avoid going into 'conservation mode'. Any lower than that, and your metabolism will slow down and prevent weight loss. To increase the metabolism and improve weight loss, she recommends eating within the first hour…

Running Mate has a program called "Fastest 5K" that is very helpful for improving time.

That hour-glass figure is really starting to shine through. Woohoo!!

It's OK, mama. That's the problem with the internet - things like tone of voice and sarcasm get lost. But thanks for clarifying the **real** issue you're having! I do often eat the leftovers off of my 2-year-old's plate. My strategy is one of the following: either put less on his plate and refill as needed, give myself a…

My advice to you is to eliminate food from your children's diet that you would not eat yourself. It's important to teach kids from a young age how to make good nutritional decisions, so that when they become adults they are not lost in the never-ending weight battles of our generation. That can be hard to do, true. But my…

Throw some shredded cheddar on a hot skillet. It will get melty then crispy. Remove once crispy. Then, throw in some canadian bacon, or even turkey bacon is good. Meanwhile, spread some dijon mustard on the smooth side of the toasted cheese. Layer bacon and a tomato slice in your 'sandwich' and enjoy! It's wicked tasty.…

From one working mom to another, I highly recommend finding the South Beach Diet "Quick and Easy" (http://amzn.com/1594862923) and "Superquick" (http://amzn.com/B005B1A3OQ) cookbooks. All of the recipes are delicious, take less than 30 min to prepare 'from scratch' and have notes as to the 'carb-iness' of the recipe. They…

I am feeling it too. Argh, the stiffness!! Although, my chest felt the same way for the first week of Level One, so I am hoping it will start to wear off by the weekend. I need a masseuse!
