She's not asking for your permission. She's asking for nutritional advice. If you have a problem with that, why don't you just ignore the post instead of trying to make her feel bad? You don't know what a person has going on in real life, and your snarky remark might really hurt a person. Just because you can't see her…

You're fine. Going over once in a while is no big deal, especially looking at how well you're doing in general and how much progress you keep making!

Well, I'm not sure how to help with motivation, but I can offer some safety advice in terms of lighting. I do my morning walk/run with a bicycle light in my hand and a red bike light clipped to the back of my belt. That makes me feel better enough that I've been able to keep going out in the morning ... although this…

1.4 pounds is really not much at all. I wish I was that close to my goal ... You're doing just fine. Just as an example ... According to the Wii Fit, my weight last night at 10 pm was three pounds heavier than my weight at 5:30 this morning. Weight fluctuates. It's trends that matter. Just keep with the program, and doing…

It happens. I'm under a whole lot of stress right now, and I know that stress-eating is one of my things. Now and then (such as the first half of this week), I give in. Last night, my wife and I had dinner with some friends who make the most amazing homemade pizza. Yeah ... blew my numbers yesterday. It might be a bad…

You know my ex-wife? I'm sorry ...

Rude people exist. Online, rudeness tends to be magnified. My suggestion is that you just realize that and take what you want from comments, ignore the rest. There may be some merit in a rudely-worded post, and it's up to you to figure out what you do and don't want to take away. Of coruse, that's just my opinion.Take it,…

First of all, you should feel free to be honest -- you're trying to watch what you eat, and want to track calories, etc.. I don't think that most people would be upset by that. If they would, then perhaps asking your boyfriend bring it up beforehand would help ease into it. Second, it is true that one day won't wreck you.…

Read the nutrition information on the side of the container. 1 T has 200 calories, which is the same as 2 T of my peanut butter. It does have less sodium, and in that 2:1 ratio has less fat. It has less protein, though. Healthier? No. But if you want to eat some now and then, that's okay. Just make sure to integrate it…

Bear in mind, lots of people lost weight long before there were weight-loss sites at all. It's a tool. It may or may not be for everyone, and the important thing should be trends, not methods. It sounds like you're doing well, whether it's as fast as others is of no importance. MFP isn't going to pay you, it's not a cult,…

To an extent, you have to bear in mind that muscle weighs more than fat. If you're gaining muscle and losing fat, then you're going to look better, feel better, and be healthier. But you might not lose a lot of weight right off. Don't be a slave to the scale. It only means so much. The number on the scale isn't necessarily…

I ballroom dance with my wife (waltz, foxtrot, swing, rhumba, and cha-cha). I also have two toddlers, so I dance in ways that have no name whatsoever ... Why I love it? I don't know ... it's fun.

Well, I'd think that the lemon pepper garlic chicken would be adding enough flavor, but maybe that's me ... To a salad, for one thing, I like lots of stuff. My salad usually has at least two greens (either different lettuces or spinach, kale, etc.), tomatoes, cucumber, celery, carrots, radishes, salad turnips, etc..…

Yes, I use a Wii Fit to supplement my walking/biking/etc.. Mostly, I spend the time on things that have me spending some real cardio time -- Free Ride on Island Cycling (usually I go to see if I can set a new distance record, other times I go for the balloons), Free Step, Boxing, or Free Run. I also do some of the yoga and…

My first answer was going to be: Of course. The web site is a tool, and if you don't put the information in, then you're not going to get anything useful back. I will qualify that a little bit, though ... If it is going to demoralize you, then don't. If you can see it and move on, great. If you can't, then try to forget…

These are my best stories. Not all of them ... My boss from work passed me on the road as I was singing the witch's final song from "Into the Woods." Gesticulations are unavoidable with that one ... he had some questions when I arrived. Meeting some friends of mine for dinner, I was still singing "Total Eclipse of the…

I've been there, and it sucks. I'm sorry, and I hope that you can keep on hanging on until things get better. Reaching out and asking for help is always a great thing, so kudos to you on that. I used to live with an awful run of depression and anxiety disorder ... I'll spare you the details, but an online forum proved VERY…

Depending on the severity of the allergy, yes, I might pack my child a special snack to be on the safe side. On the other hand, it's not that much to ask. Please, choose one of the many possible snack options in the world that doesn't contain macadamia nuts. I'm not allergic, but could go years without eating a macadamia…

I'm a morning person, so my best success for getting a lot in will be if I get up early. This morning, for example, I got up, went for a 4-mile run/walk, and got home before my wife and kids were up. That's me. I like to do a little something in the evening to wind down the day, but often don't just because I'm tired.…

It depends on what else you eat and how much of it you eat, how much you exercise, etc.. If I ate pasta every night, I'd be packing it on ... but it's all a question of balance. Watch the calories and carbs, get the fiber, protein, etc., and you'll be fine.

Excellent! I'm using kind of the shirt-standard, too. There's a favorite sweater and some shirts of mine that I'd like to be able to wear again. My stash is in the basement, waiting ... Anyway, you should be very proud of what you're doing ... halfway there means you're a lot closer than you were at the beginning, and it's…

The activity level is there to figure your routine work, so that you don't have to try to figure out how far you walked in school, for example. When you do other exercise, though, that is different. You'll see that that's tracked. You set a goal, and it compares your actual exercise to that.

I don't know. I still eat my share of stuff for taste, just less of it. Maybe it's because I've been trained to think like an economist, but I've learned that having a taste of ice cream is really no less satisfying than the giant sundae. I'll eat the stuff, but keep it to about 100-150 calories. No, that's not a lot, but…

I'm a big fan of carrots. Oatmeal will also serve you well, and I've heard good things about jerky. I have enough trouble keeping my sodium remotely under control that I'm not touching the stuff, but if that's not your problem, go for it. I find that celery also really helps with giving me that full feeling without adding…

I skipped breakfast yesterday. Nothing deliberate, just didn't think of it. The end result was that I felt sufficiently famished that I went through a drive-thru. Waste of money, blew my sodium for the day (by a lot) and had to eat a lot less of my supper, which was actual food, to make up for the gosh-awful calorie…

Plain, you're looking at roughly 600 calories, assuming it's a 5 oz. burger. I have no idea about Tam's in particular, but that should be a good estimate. Here is some general information: http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/nutrition-calories/food/generic/burgers-grilled-hamburger/ With so many locations and being in…

Bear in mind that if your calorie deficit is too great, then your body is going to kick into conservation mode, which means you'll slow down your metabolism and lose energy while storing more fat. The formula isn't quite as simple as fewer calories = pounds lost. Too few is bad, too.

"Strapping" is good. I like "robust," "dauntless," and "resolute." Of course, it occurs to me that those are all ship names. Huh ... Anyway ... I think that "robust" might go best with the mustache, but I'm at a complete loss to exaplain why that feels so. I'm not sure if any of those is exactly what you want. None is in…

Pain is usually an indication that your body thinks you should stop. If you really couldn't handle jumping, then stopping was the right move. Ease back into it some other time. It won't help you in any way to injure yourself. There's nothing wrong with an 8-minute workout now and picking up some more later; especially not…

I allow myself a glass of juice (real juice, not fake stuff) and a glass of milk. Used strategically, I've eliminated Pepsi and tea (by which I mean, sweet tea) almost entirely. What you want to do is keep it in your log and think your way through it. If I have that glass of pineapple juice with breakfast, that's calories…
