Hi. I am 57. I lost 58lbs in about 16 months and am now maintaining. Just keep doing the right things and above all be patient - you're in this for the long haul. Those 40lbs will go and you will feel marvellous.

Don't understand why you'd call anywhere in England north! From Shetland.

Today I hit my goal. I have lost 57lbs, have a whole wardrobe of new clothes, masses of energy, far less pain and loads more confidence.

I am 5ft 1, therefore several inches below average. I cannot therefore eat an average calorie intake without gaining weight. I must eat proportionately to my height, to lose, gain or maintain. When I exercise, I burn fewer calories for the same time, speed, distance as someone taller than me. When people say things like…

I am now 56. Started the campaign summer 2011 and have lost 56lbs, with only one more to lose to reach my goal. I have enjoyed eating a variety of foods, mainly homemade, have controlled portion size and exercised regularly - walking and gym mostly, with a little running more recently. At only 5ft 1 I have had to learn (…

Nothing. Never understood why people automatically feel the need to eat just because they are watching a film.

Well done. It's a great feeling (I just got there too). Also aimimg for about 130lbs.

I am 56, menopausal, short and never been a sporty exercising sort of person! I am very sedentary; am quite happy sitiing with a book for hours. I have lost 53lbs and am 4lbs from my target. You can do it, if I can. It was slow but partly that was deliberate. I love food adn can honestly say I have rarely felt hungry. I…

I usually listen to music when walking but last night I didn't bother. It was so quiet - and part of the silence was my thighs NOT rubbing together and the waterproof trousers NOT making that swsh swsh noise!

Had roast chicken, new potatoes, carrots and ratatouille, followed by crackers and Blue Stilton cheese.

Hi, I am Anne, 56 years old, and I live on the Shetland Islands, furthest north part of the UK. About 15 months ago the local council shut down the school I worked in (I'm an English teacher) and moved me to another school where I am not particularly happy. I decided it was time to get at least some of my life under…

I have tried some of the salads - bought to eat on the ferry from Aberdeen to the Shetland Isles. I found them really good, filling and much healthier and tastier than anything served on board!

I am not religious at all so I do not believe anything is a matter of faith in a celestial being or any other manifestation of worshipee. However I do believe in forgiveness. As you say it's mainly for the forgiven because the person who has hurt him/her, in all likelihood, does not regret his/her actions, appear repentant…

I lost over 50lbs and went from 34F to 30G. I went in and got fitted though. I think that's the best way to find out.

Hello, I am 56 and have lost over 50lbs. it has taken me over a year, but that's ok. it was what I reckoned when I started. As I am only 5ft 1 I have been on 1200 calories since I started on here and of course the deficit has gone down and down as I lost weight! I exercise between 4 and 6 times a week, mostly walking but…

Yes, I cook from scratch most of the time, and have done for years. At the moment, I love the River Cottage Everyday Veg book and am also enjoying the Hairy Bikers Dieting book. I also bake my own bread - and recently baked some bagels. Cooking and adapting my own meals is a big part of this weightloss/lifestyle challenge…

I am 5ft 1 and my goal is 9st 4lbs. I have had similar comments earlier, but now am only 5lbs away from goal and nobody is saying that any more. I think people genuinely can't imagine it. I mean, WE can't imagine it, so how hard must it be for people who aren't in our skin?

This week I have walked for one hour on Wednesday, two hours on Friday and over 3 today so I have more than hit my target. Feeling great! Well done everyone!

Incorporating foods we like into our new lifestyle is vital, I think. So, I agree, eat the soup or at least some of it. Even if you go over a bit on calories, you have "banked" some in the last month, so you will be fine. Food is not just fuel.
